Title: Camp Torches
Post by: RAGNAR on July 07, 2008, 01:00:26 PM
There has been some controversy regarding the freestanding torches around the main area of camp.

The torches are of a tiki type design. A large thick glass canister holds the oil and a wick extends through a metal plate covering over the  top of the canister.

The canister sits in an iron framed cradle at the top of an iron post roughly 10 feet off the ground. These posts are driven into the ground roughly two to three feet. The total length of the iron posts are roughly twelve feet.

The height of these torches allows better illumination of the area surrounding them.

The amount of oil is visible within the canister. It makes it easier to see if it requires filling. On average the cannister will hold enough oil to burn from before dusk to shortly after dawn.

Do NOT try climbing the poles to fill the torches. A slave may assume the table position as a platform for filling and/or lighting the torches.

Wagon torches or lamps may vary depending upon the wagon and ownership.
