MIGRATION LOG

Entry One

The snow has finally been removed, but unfortunately it was done by rains. The rains have now frozen as the temperature has dropped severely.

The Outriders have returned from their long range patrol and are in a wagon being tended for frostbite and other maladies. They are also eating stew as they had gone without food for three days as the weather has caused a scarcity in game. The Ubar is still out, having rode on further in order to see more of what lies ahead of Tuchuk.

All is mostly ready to migrate when the order comes. Bosk are being gathered for the teams and BERAT has been sounding a great deal. The herds have all come together and all signs point to moving very soon.

Temperatures are still extremely cold and was accompanied by very light snow flurries. Accumulation was negligable.

It seems all is ready to move awaiting the word to do so. The Tuchuk standard, sleen cages, and commissary wagons seems to be all that is left to load up.

The herds have formed up to the North of camp and have ceased grazing.

The Ubar has not yet returned and patrols bring no word of his whereabouts. For RAGNAR, this is not unusual when he decides to go have a look around.

We still await word that the herds have begun to move.  All repairs are made.  The wagon that will bear the standard has been brought forward.

There has still been no word from the patrols on the whereabouts of the Ubar.

The Ubar has returned and is recovering from the extended patrol by the main brazier in his wagon.

The herds have begin to move slowly North.

Caution is urged as injuries do occur during movement of the camp.

Finish packing everything.... as the wagons will move in three days if all goes as expected.

Temperatures remain cold, but have eased up from the vicious bitter cold it has been. No snow is expected in the immediate future but that can change rapidly being so close to the Thassa.

(((NOTE..... We move sunday night if all goes as expected. Saturday night I hope to see everyone up in Skylar's room, Mistledale accepting her gracious invitation to join in their fun.)))

The wagons are well underway.  The going is slow as the frozen ground and ice proves to be a problem for the livestock.

The wagons continued on through the night.  Snow and wind were a problem for a short time, and a small break in traveling was taken to clear the bosk's eyes and hooves of accumulated snow/ice.  Relatively few problems occurred.  A Stranger, surveying the caravan was taken into custody after suspicious behavior, his weapons removed.  Save that, all is well so far, though the frozen ground is a continued nuisance, making travel, at times, hazardous.

The wagons stopped short of the river to rest the stock and make any necessary repairs to the wagons prior to the crossing.  The herds crossed the river during the day.  Only a few of the older bosk were lost to the extreme cold of the river.  The river is rain swollen and running freely in the middle....icy on the edges...scouts have been sent out to look for the best place to cross the wagons.

The wagons moved this night... though a few stragglers took their time in coming out of Turia, they are all now accounted for and with the wagons... as the night progressed, a mild snow started to fall, but the order given out to all was to keep the wagons moving through the night and through to the following morning...

The wagons continue to move North, a brief stop was made earlier in the day to allow the teams of bosk to rest and eat, and for the wagons to get something warm to eat, but after a couple of ahn, the wagons started to move once more... It's still cloudy and every once in awhile light snow or freezing rain starts to fall, but nothing of any significance to hinder the wagons in any way... The wagons will continue to move on through the night and morning...

The wagons are making great progress.  The snow has given way to rain as the temperatures are slowly warming.  The River of Tears is still a couple days away....Scouts have returned with reports of of the herds.....they have not yet crossed the river......the Outriders have stopped their progress in order to guive them time to graze and rest before attempting the crossing.
