Redskins leapfrogging it...
« on: March 10, 2012, 04:20:55 AM »
right into #2 spot

The Washington Redskins acquired the No. 2 overall pick in April's NFL Draft on Friday from the St. Louis Rams by sending first rounders in 2012, '13 and '14 and a second-round pick this year to the Rams,

They really want RG3 !!

so that is Andrew Luck going to the Colts with first round pick
and RG3 going to the Redskins with 2nd pick.

I will have to stick my neck out here and say that this deal puts the Rams in a better position than the Skins gave themselves.

The Rams already have a pretty fair QB. He just needs help from his offensive line and more potential targets on the recieving end of his throws.

Presto! Now they have that very opportunity.

The questions remaining....

Will the Rams follow through and nail down the elements they need or will they get stupid and throw it all away for the flavor of the week when it comes time to lay their cards on the table?

AND.... are the Skins still viable for Manning and are hedging their bets with RG3, or are they starting to see RG3 as their go to guy and may allow Manning to slip towards the Chiefs or Seahawks?

The more I read and watch on this subject..whoa...I dunno

Miami..Flynn or Manning?
Manning already has a house in Miami..okay
Flynn..younger and would be cheaper..lol

Redskins...loved how this was put "The club mortgaged is future to move up 4 spots
in the draft" to get this guy.
They want a qb they can develope..okay..so your sticking with Rexy while your new qb developes??
Maybe you might up your wins by 1 this season.(5 last season)

Chiefs..Tight with their money...like tightass Mike Brown (Bengals)..
if they really want Manning..they have got to make a serious offer.
Don't cry Matty!!!

Seattle...to dreary for Manning..and I would miss seeing Charlie's porn-star mustache when he
gets to QB..lol

Rams...slew of picks coming their way from the skins...
picks that can majorly impact their team greatly.
choose wisely grasshoppers!

Arizona????

Cardinals... well there you will have two QB's that want to play. Both making good money. Who will be paid the money to sit the bench? Who might even be given their walking papers?

Gotta give Peyton his dues. He is damn good and has shown it. Problem is... how many more years does he want to play... how many will he be able to play... and if he does play, how quickly will his new offense adjust to his style of play?

It is possible Manning may go to the Phins, buuuuuuuut... that team is already planning and prepping to go with what they have plus a couple of picks. Will they come up with the bucks to take Manning and rework their entire offense to his style of play, or will they continue to develope as they are? Possible, but Manning in Dolphin colors.... that would be a stretch for me. You also have to figure out if Miami has the room in its cap to pay the price Manning may come with.

It is probably what it will come down to...whoever is willing to shell out the big bucks...

Kolb is due 7 million this month...
If they get Manning...Kolb can leave that 7 million in the manning pot on his way out the door

Then you are in a dire situation.

Peyton takes the snap, blitz it on...

Bang crunch scream...

Medical staff taking Manning off the field and who is the backup that can deliver... or do they become a replay of the Colts last season?

Granted... injury can take any player at any time. However... no team can hold any hopes of advancing through the season unless they have depth. Again we are back to who can afford Manning, a well as a good backup in his own right.

I see two scenarios for Manning's new home...

First... a current team with a strong offensive line and some good hands on the recievers that can protect Manning and handle what he throws. Augment that with some new talent to develope from the draft and trades. I would guestimate this team would have to have leeway of about 25 to 30 million in their salary cap.

Secondly... a currently young team with a handful of aging veterans to get the younger guys to settle into the program. Be team leaders on the field and off. Younger less experienced players are cheaper as you mentioned before, and allows even more room in their salary cap. This team should already have, or newly aquire a young QB besides Manning to develope under Manning's wing so to speak. Build the team from the ground up under good solid coaching staff and veteran players to a point where each member can fit into all their plays and only individual talent seperates them. This is a team that does not expect a Manning and Co. superbowl this season... pinning all their hopes on Peyton. This is rediculous. This would be a team that would be looking at three to five years of cultivation, improvement, limited player transactions, and rely on the draft to fill their ranks for the future... and free agency to maintain their small but solid veteran player pool.

Or what if...

Colts can't get either one and try to get Manning back?
