In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

— John McCrae
..you can not grasp it.
 You can  only touch the  fire and be seared by it,  even destroyed  in it's embrace, but never can you hold it, not for a heartbeat.

The Navy Hymn
Eternal Father Strong to Save
Rev William Whiting, Rev. John B Dykes

Eternal Father, Strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bid'st the mighty Ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to thee,
for those in peril on the sea.

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
and calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!

Most Holy spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!

O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee,
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
Never Meddle in the Affairs of a Dragon.  for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

God of Our Fathers
(United States Army Hymn)
Lyrics by Daniel C. Roberts, Music by George W. Warren - 1888

God of our fathers, whose almighty hand
Leads forth in beauty all the starry band
Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies
Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

Thy love divine hath led us in the past,
In this free land by Thee our lot is cast,
Be Thou our Ruler, Guardian, Guide and Stay,
Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way.

From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence,
Be Thy strong arm our ever sure defense;
Thy true religion in our hearts increase,
Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.

Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way,
Lead us from night to never ending day;
Fill all our lives with love and grace divine,
And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.

Never Meddle in the Affairs of a Dragon.  for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

U.S. Marine Corps Hymn (Marine Hymn)

From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
of United States Marine.

Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job--
The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.

Never Meddle in the Affairs of a Dragon.  for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

The Air Force Hymn

Lord, guard and guide those who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky;
Be with them traversing the air
In darkening storms or sunshine fair,

You who support with tender might
The balanced birds in all their flight.
Lord of the tempered winds, be near,
That, having you, they know no fear.

Control their minds with instinct fit,
What time adventuring, they quit
The firm security of land;
Grant steadfast eye and skillful hand.

Aloft in solitudes of space
Uphold them with your saving grace
O God, protect those who fly
Through lonely ways beneath the sky.

Never Meddle in the Affairs of a Dragon.  for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

THE COAST GUARD HYMN

Eternal Father, Lord of Hosts
Watch o'er the ones who guard our coasts
Protect them from the raging seas
And give them light and life and peace.
Grant them from thy great throne above
The shield and shelter of thy love.

Lord, guard and guide the ones who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky
Be with them always in the air,
In darken storms or sunlight fair,
Oh, hear us when we lift our prayer,
For those in peril in the air!

Grant to them Your eternal peace, Oh Lord,
For they have followed your commandment,
That No Greater Love has he, who would give up his life for another.
Never Meddle in the Affairs of a Dragon.  for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

I'm Already Home'
Tim McGraw

You're reading this, my mama's sittin there
Look's like I only got a one way ticket over here
I sure wish I could give you one more kiss
War was just a game we played when we were kids
Well I'm layin down my gun and hanging up my boots
I'm up here with God and we're both watching over you

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my mama always prayed that it would go
And if you're reading this
I'm already home

If you're reading this halfway around the world
I won't be there to see the birth of our little girl
I hope she looks like you
I hope she fights like me
And stands up for the innocent and the weak
I'm layin down my gun and hanging up my boots
Tell dad I don't regret that I followed in his shoes

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my mama always prayed that it would go
And if you're reading this
I'm already home

If you're reading this, there's gonna come a day
When you'll move on and find someone else, and that's ok
Just remember this
I'm in a better place
Where soldiers live in peace and angels sing Amazing Grace

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my mama always prayed that it would go
And if you're reading this

If you're reading this...
I'm already home

Side note.   .some have paid the biggest price...some of us have bled.... some of us will carry the scars as our badges for fighting for the freedoms so many take for granted. and even through all our pain.. all the suffering.. We took an Oath... and we still stand the watch and guard the walls to keep the evil that would attack all that we hold dear at bay.  I had someone ask me.. was it worth it?  the only answer is Yes.  and I would do it all over again.... and even do it now.  for my brothers..... my sisters..... my comrades in arms... thank you.....just don't ever forget

Interesting tidbit. The Marines lost more people per capita than any other branch in WWII. The MERCHANT Marines lost the second most per capita. Thing about it... how do you win a war? Cut off their supply chain. The Merchant Marines man supply ships. My husband is a Merchant Marine, and there was a very real chance he could have been called upon to man supply ships a couple of years ago.

The Merchant Marine song...

 Heave Ho! My Lads! Heave Ho!

VERSE
Give us the oil, give us the gas
Give us the shells, give us the guns.
We'll be the ones to see them thru.
Give us the tanks, give us the planes.
Give us the parts, give us a ship.
Give us a hip hoo-ray!
And we'll be on our way.

CHORUS
Heave Ho! My Lads, Heave Ho!
It's a long, long way to go.
It's a long, long pull with our hatches full,
Braving the wind, braving the sea,
Fighting the treacherous foe;
Heave Ho! My lads, Heave Ho!
Let the sea roll high or low,
We can cross any ocean, sail any river.
Give us the goods and we'll deliver,
Damn the submarine!
We're the men of the Merchant Marine!

there is not a minute that goes by that i think about our men and women out there fighthing for our rights and our country..it makes me sad to look around in an event of somesort..where the Flag is marched down the street or in a arena.. or even in someones yard... as the years goes by you see less and less people that raises there arms up and slutes the Flag and our soliders...I was brought up an army brat my daddy was over in Nam...remember Him talking about D-Day...i dont remember much about His time that he served .. just old photos of him and his friends ((even a pet monkey))...only the people that have served knows how it is really is..the shell bombings.. wondering if you are going to get back to your love ones your childern,family... what the person goes through when they do get to come home.. seeing there friends that do not make it even strangers..i do remember daddy being more jumpy after he did make it home...but i know deep down in my heart that daddy did not tell of the hardships he went through..he wanted to save his family from having to go through it.....so he mainly talk of the good times they had...
i wish that all of our troops gets to come home and war would end....i think there has been enough violance in the world today..

 I also wish that my dad was here with me right now.. so that i could tell him how much that i love him and thank him for what he has done...but i also know that he is in a much better place now.. where there is no war going on nothing but peace....

God Bless Our Troops....
I won't promise to be your friend forever, because I won't live that long. But let me be your friend as long as I live.
