Many Gorean men, in their vanity, will not admit to caring for slaves. Even the thought of it, it seems, would embarrass them. Who would care for a meaningless slut in a collar? Yet, too often, for just such women, luscious and helpless, and in bondage, men are prepared to kill. Indeed, more than one war on Gor has been fought to recover a single slave.

Hrmmm...This is what I have to say True...

One of the few women on Gor that can and does get close to men are the slaves.  Even though the slave is viewed as simply an object or even a beast of burden, it is this slave that tends to know the man, more than physicaly but emotionally.  In her silent servitude, she sees all and tends to know every reaction, facial expression, subtle change and thought process the man may go through.  Surely a FW as well may come to understand, but she isnt really free to feel the intimacy with the man.  By this I mean a man a free man of Gor, may look at his FC as simply a business proposition to carry his bloodline or for home benefits but even during such he must worry at some point about what he says to her.  For a slave, he can feel or assume he doesnt care and simply let loose and be intimate about everything and every thought, for after all, she is just a beast and can be killed, so he is more laxed about what he says to her, because he is in more control over her than a FW.

So, virtually in his ignorance of a slaves importance, or facade of indifference, he does in fact care because there is a more intimate bond with the slave and his comfort zone has been breeched to the point he feels he can be comfortable in his control, thus more laxed with himself, which all in all, brings a caring he probably doesnt know about or see, till the slave is gone or he no longer has that safe comfort zone.

Woe be it the Gorean man that admits such caring of a mere slave, over his own pride or vanity or ego.  A man needs to have that hard shell to deal with life on a daily basis, but what is within that man, is a turmoil, a battle of pride and ego versus emotions.  And generally, in that slave, the emotional caring is brought out...if you look at it from an emotional stand point.

Then you have the "that property is mine damnit.  You touch it, you die".  The whole man thing about "he who has the most toys wins" kinda deal.  He may very well be uncaring of the slave herself or her emotions, but what matters to him the most is the fact he owns the slave and it is his and any violation of that ownership is a breech of his "zone" of control.

Then, there is the whole pet aspect.  A man may feel the need to protect and care for a pet, like a child, to raise it and such, to train and guide.  To control and direct.  Something he desires yet must protect.  But then again, during these instances, the majority of the time, the man is then subject to manipulation emotionally at the whims of a slave.  I have seen this too many times.

It takes a special slave to reach a man's emotional and caring side.  One of those....one in a million things.  Something you can actually smile about and simply....know.  And Gor be damned when a man finds that slave and he becomes opinionated.
