No surprises and then:  Peacocks.!! I know their importance to Royals  in Medieval times but for the Vikings to have them as an actual pet? I don’t see the appeal other than status. I also can’t see it helping around a farm or home or even surviving the harsh winter. It was a surprise indeed.

Another shocker was “house bears”. A cub, maybe, but an actual bear, be it polar, black or brown? I can’t see a full grown one being domesticated nor trained to attack an enemy, as generally suggested.

Falcons are out of my character’s reach and dreams but hawks do have my interest. Perhaps one will enter my RP someday but they are far down on my wish list at the moment. Animals around me need to earn their keep, either alive or by slaughter.
