Defying the odds

The public opinion of the many will not always be the correct opinion. In this home, it is always about the heart of the individual. If your heart is in it and your heart leads you to this home as yours, then you will have a family like no other.  Never feel like you are an outcast because all it takes is one person, and sometimes that one person that believes in you, is you.  If you decide from deep within that you want to be a part of a family, of this family, then you can be and this family will be yours and back you in all things.  This family will also put you in your place when you mess up, but we will still be your family.  Be true to yourself, and your family.  Be responsible for yourself and your family.  Walk with honor and you will walk among the honored.  If no one believes this, then I say let me tell you a story of a Tuchuk...

Sometime ago, a warrior walked among the Tuchuk, an outcast that was watched and not trusted.  The Ubar granted this man sanctuary knowing that doing so could in fact endanger his own life.  This warrior was an Assassin that had denounced the caste and challenged any of the caste to take his head if they could.  Three attempted, needless to say the caste hunted him no further.  Now many in Tuchuk feared that the warrior was simply using a ruse and was there on a contract for the Ubar himself.  Many whispered that if any man could ever get close enough to the Ubar, this man may be able to match the Ubar for skill.  This is where the heart of the Ubar comes in and let me tell you, his heart is bigger than any you will meet on Gor, and not just because he is a big Torvie.  Nothing could be further from the rumors, and the Ubar even tested it.  The Ubar was wounded at one time, barely able to move and after a bath to help ease the muscles, succumbed to his own loss of strength.  There was a shout throughout camp that the Ubar was incapacitated and no one had seen the Outcast warrior.  Fearing for the Ubar's life, many showed up, only to find the Ubar being helped and carried to the med wagon by that same warrior.  If there was any time to strike and deal a fateful blow, it would have been then.  But even this act, did not earn trust as when it came to vote for membership, oh one would not believe the opposition from some in council, the odds were not in favor of the warrior.

That man, was voted into camp with conditions, as a member of Tuchuk.  That warrior stood where none stood, opposed all that came in the way of the Tuchuk way of life, accepted his own responsibilities and mistakes, faced anything thrown in his path.  Even when turmoil tore the camp apart, that man stood his ground with Tuchuk.  He was scarred all the scars a Tuchuk could earn, given commands that many envied and did not falter in his loyalty to the Ubar nor Tuchuk.  Those that opposed him have long gone, their passing judgment proven wrong.

Now Tuchuk would not question their life in this man's hand, and if it meant that this man give his last dying breath in defense of all of his home, even those that may oppose him he will do so without reservation, because the Ubar gave this man a chance and no matter any other's feelings, he will do the same for Tuchuk.

So do not succumb to the fears of public opinion if you know in fact that your heart is true.  Follow the path of honor, follow the truth of your heart, place faith in the Ubar and believe in yourself and you will defy the odds.  Change starts with you, as they did me so many seasons ago.
