I took Ubar to the hospital today around 11 am. He was having severe pain in his lower right abdomen and around to his lower right back. After hours and hours in the ER (literally till 6 pm) they decided that there could be a problem and admitted him.
When they got him up to the floor, his BP had dropped to 61 over 43. They freaked. I freaked. They decided that there was a serious problem and started pumping drugs into him to raise his pressure, then moved him to ICU.
His doctor babe came to see him, and she decided that they needed a surgeon on standby because it probably is his appendix about to explode on him. The surgeon wasn't thrilled with the surgical area of the hospital we take him to because it has been newly built and they are still working the kinks out of the surgical arena, etc. He wanted him moved to the hospital an hour away. Doctor babe agreed and at 10 pm tonight, they were moving him to the surgical ICU at that hospital, where the surgeon would take his first actual hands on look at Ubar and decide if they were going in tonight or if they were gonna wait and go in tomorrow sometime.
When I had to leave, his BP was up to 112 over 58... He wasn't very coherent and they were waiting on the Mobile ICU to transport him.
For most people, the appendix, caught in time, would be no real big deal. Ubar, however, as most of you know, has a long history of heart failure, a pacemaker, and now suffers from lung issues that keep putting him in the hospital every few monthes. .. His doctor babe asked him point blank, if he kicked off, did he want her to bring him back. .. She expressed the seriousness of his heart and lung factors. He told her I could decide (thanks.... *sigh*).
I had to come home, because, naturally, I can't get out of work tomorrow. (Let's all sing.. woobie loves her boss)... and he may or may not be in surgery tonight since that depends on what the surgeon decides when he arrives at the other hospital where said surgeon is waiting for him. I tried to call his mother at 8:30 to let her know what is happening and got the answering machine.
I guess I won't know much unless they call me on my cell.. or when I get there tomorrow afternoon sometime after I get off work at 2.
I am scared. I have asked God to handle it all for me. I believe He will. I also know that all your prayers won't hurt to have along. Please don't call the house or the cell.. I want to keep the lines open for the hospital... Just have a chat with the big guy for me ..

You and the Beloved Ubar both have my prayers, i actuaccly have no idea how i saw this post but, none the less you both need the love and prayers of not only your rt family but you camp family as well, and as Shoko may be like that creepy uncle that keeps showing up randomly, She still loves every one of Tuchuk, I pray for his bodily health as i pray for your mental health.

Update:
As of 7 am on my way to work, they had not operated. They were still trying tests and trying to keep his BP stable,etc.
Because he is in Surgical ICU, they have limited visiting, 20 minute blocks 4 times a day. I have bribed the nurse to let me in as soon as I can get there now that I got off work, so I don't have to wait till 8:30 tonight.
I will know more when I get home later.
Thanks to each and every one of you for your prayers, because I know God listens. .. just ask Nexie *soft smile*.. and keep them coming.

As of 6 pm tonight when they threw me out..
He was still in pain and they have not operated. They want his BP and heartrates stable without drugs if at all possible before they do. I guess they are working on that, buying time and hoping there is no appendix eruption until they feel much more confident about opening him up. They won't give him major pain meds until he is relatively stable BP for a couple hours at a time because, well, as those of us who were once aspiring street corner chemists know.. morphine, delaudin, etc.. they make you "nod out", BP droppage and all that sort of thing.
I was only supposed to get to stay one half hour, but when they came in to tell me time was up. .He flat told them.. you took my food, you took my water (His only nourishment is in IV so as not to irritate the appendix), you don't let me have a shower, and you took my freakin' pants! .. you will NOT take my woobie before I am ready for her to be gone. *LOL* They left me be for 3 hours..
We both think it is ironic that he has been on meds for years to keep his BP down because it is high, and now they have him on drugs to raise it. I also don't like the doubts he has about being in the "butcher hospital" as he calls it. I don't like that he thinks he might not make it out.
He said to tell you all that he loves you, that he thanks you for your prayers, and to carry on.

He says.. if he has something to be totally pissed about it will make him fight more.. .. I am sure someone can manage to pull something off.. LOL.. please ... if you do.. post it here.. I will be printing this thread out to take to him tomorrow before I go.

Please know that you both are in my thoughts, in my heart, and most definitely in my prayers. May God, in His infinite mercy, place His healing hands upon Ragnar and assist the surgeons and team in the operating room. May He also bless you, woobie, with an extra measure of his love during this most trying time.
As for your boss at work .....I think it stinks that he/ she will not give you the time off you need to be with your Man, but we will ask God to bless him/ her too.....to soften their heart and have a little compassion.

i know that when health is involved many dont know the right words to say, My grandmother used to have me say this prayer when i was sick, and i still to this day do it even though its been a year since shes been able to remind me

My sister....my friend....my heart....my crawdad catcher....I was shocked to hear that Rags was once again in the big place. (I thank dakota for pointing me to the board.) We all know how he loves being there. My hope is that you can both feel my prayers fall around you like the softness of a cool autumn breeze. I kinda held off responding to this post, because I honestly, just figured I would pray my little heart out and hope to the billions of deities out there, that he would come home safe, but if he needs something to be pissed off about....I can do that too. I'm having a boy, and he will not play football, and he'll be a Raiders fan...and he won't go to Notre Dame either. He's gonna be part of the chess club, be sensitive to women's feelings, and hate his Momma. -nodslots- Well maybe not the last part, but surely some of that may just tick him off enough...Plus if he doesn't fookin live to see his Grandchild, I will raise him from the dead just to torture him over and over and over again. End of story.

I wish you the most bestest, most quickest, and most easiest recovery that there ever was. and you are in my thoughts and prayers.. Especially wobbie for having to go thru all of this too. Sometimes is harder being on her side of these things than on Rag's.

Ubar and woobie....I walked around the outside of Camp, acting like I was something special, and was really hurt when those who seem to be guarding the parameter, just laughed at me. I stomped my foot and told them I was taking over for you, Ubar, during your...um....run in the big house and they continued to laugh. I can't wait for them to take a break. I'm thinking the saddles they mount upon will not be as comfortable on the back of their rides as they were when they dismounted...*shitfacedgrin*....I'm not sure who could be so devious.....I was thinking it was prolly...lure. I'll try again for that camp thing tomorrow. Ponders my choices.

well my trip to PK was sort of stinted because word got to me that Sati escaped, so I just decided to go raiding of all the wagon camps in the plains, and well, ummm... I got lots of booty, and there are a few dead men and woman lying about... and well... umm... ~glances about a bit and then smirks~ I came home and bury the loot under DRAGONSLAIR for safe keeping... ~EFG~
BTW, there are strange wings on the bosk out in the herd... ~confuzzled look on my innocent face~

There have been few constant things in life. Much ebb and flow, far too much. But of all I have observe having wandered back to Gor a time or 2 is that the One that calls Himself Ragnar seems to have always been there. Not forgetting his girl prism, who from the beginning has been joined at the hip with Him.
Ragnar, You have seen many changes in Your time here. Many many more than I as you have been here. This homestone, this place and Gor needs more like you.
Get better and maybe We will one day sit around a fire and talk.
May the wind be at Your back and the gods smile down on You. Prayers of the kind I send have been and will be sent for Your recovery and return.

Got off the phone with woobie...Rags is in a step down room. No surgery, probably wont do it...he's pretty ticked with the doctor...there might be charges pressed by the doctor on him, so he's feeling somewhat better...there is still pain...he is coherent and grumpy so, thats normal...he loves everyone...and if he doesnt get pissed off enough and strangle the doctor he will try to be home tonight...I think he's fed up with that hospital. So far no further pain medication for the appendix...he's crashed a few times, thinking it might have been the drugs, but he's up again...woobie will be home tonight to provide an update on the situation when she gets a chance.
So, for everyone out there holding their breath, let it out and breathe. He's grumpy, he's mean, I heard his voice, Im pretty sure he has a few choice words to say to the staff at that hospital, but again, he wanted everyone to know he loves all of you and to thank you for the prayers and words of endearment. Both he and woobie are just tired and I would imagine stressed, but otherwise, fine.

Hi everyone. I am sorry I didn't post last night. I was just spent, tired, and had 4 am work today as I do again tomorrow.
As my most favoritest shark in the whole world told ya, Ubar is indeed in a stepdown room.
He did his best to let me bust him out tonight but they wouldn't buy it, and the way his insurance works, if he left without their blessings, he might be refused treatment again for the same thing. So he is there for at least one more night. They still have not treated the pain, they don't want to operate unless they are given no alternative, but they are all happy as larks that his BP is stable.. they feel they have done their job. Gee... since he has been refusing dosages of the same meds they gave him in the ER just before his big crash attempt, I would say ... hmmmmm... maybe Ubar's commonsense had something to do with that victory... LOL but I am a girl, what do I know.
Actually, I think all your prayers is what is working, God listens and answers..
I haven't had time to call each of you that have left numbers, but know that I am so very grateful for each one that has reached out as family... You all will never know how much you and your thoughts and prayers mean.
Oh... and it's safe to call now.. LOL... He has a phone in his room, which he did not have in the ICU, so I have a way to call and find out what is going on without being camped on the phone waiting on them to call me.

There might be charges pending from the doctor??? yeah... he's feeling better. What is Lady Doc saying about all this? Considering she's a GOOD one... I'd imagine she's ready to spit nails right about now. Hell, I'd be suing for malpractice since this idiot doc hasn't done anything, won't do anything, and made his condition worse.... I'd consult with Lady Doc about it... but that's just me.

Considering that pain management is one of the most basic goals of medical practice, I'd say You have a very good point, Sis. While overmedicating might mask symptoms that they need to assess a patient's condition, no medication at all leaves the patient with too low a quality of life to be considered ethical. I'd be talking to a malpractice attorney, after switching physicians of course.
I'll keep right on praying, and start dreaming up extremely nasty ways to teach that doctor the meaning of his Oath.

looked in again this morning to see how you were doing, True and according to woobie it looks like you're still in the hospital in that whatever room---I hope that you can beat this thing whatever it is---I'm not a physician, but thought that once the appendix is inflamed and everything else i sstable, they usually will take it out?----but perhaps the warranty on your parts is tougher than they thought---at any rate, hope they can treat the pain and the confition both and that you recover quickly so that youcan kill me after reading my last post--lol---Iwill check back later on tonight to see if the hospital is stillstanding----Illegitimus Carborundum, True ---RB

And yes....they should take the appendix out if he is stable and it is necessary to, although sometimes they can make the inflamation go down with medications. -somehow had doubts of Rags letting those quacks anywhere near him with meds though...maybe the Lady Doc...hmm....sneaks a look to Arlon and snickers- You must live near me.. that or I've found somewhere else that has quack and hicks and idiots that claim to be Doctors.

Ive been praying like crazy and am glad to hear that woobie still has hair (she didnt pull it all out) and that Rags is much better.......
...... however when i was travelling to Tuchuk i found an abandoned paga wagon in the wilderness and since it said "property of Ragnar" it was full of paga so i had a few thralls bring it back......
