Motel is in a semi private setting 15 minutes from both Salem and Alliance Metropolitan areas.
There are both smoking and non smoking rooms available.
One and two bed rooms available.
There are only 20 rooms!!!
I HIGHLY recommend people rooming together and sharing the cost of the room.
Bring your swimsuits as there is a pool for our enjoyment.
Contact the Motel and book your reservations. A credit card security deposit of one night's stay is required to hold the room. Any cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance to avoid loss of deposit.

I don't think I'll be able to make it this year. *sighs* Since I'm not going to be able to go to my cousin's wedding in May, I have compromised and promised that we'll make the treck up to Canada this summer instead when Hubby's actually at home. (Not flyin with an 8mo old all the way to Sask and goin thru Minniapolis airport by myself.. no WAY in hell!) But, by promising that, I don't think I can afford to drive both to Sask, AND to the Gathering. We'll see, but it's looking doubtful at this time. Dangit, and I had a perfect attendance too!

There are twenty available rooms, and it would seem that some 10-12 are taken.
The rooming arrangements are RAGs and woobie; Sah and Mal; Amber and Terran; and Sid, Teggie, and I. I have no idea if others plan to share rooms, but that still leaves several rooms open and a whooole lot of people on the "Tentative" list. I'd reserve now! And I knew Kels is accepting roomies in a room that can hold four, that might be a viable option as well!

not a biggie.. everyone usually chips in a bit to cover all the supplies.. I think it was like $10 last year.. but all the supplies they bought covered two nights..
they had burgers and all the fixins.. chips... a few different salads and such

Eep! Correction: Jay and I will arrive at Kelsey's on SATURDAY. Kels and I got some wires crossed; I said Friday, she thought I said Saturday and made plans for an evening out.
But, hey, this is NOT at all bad. Kiddo is with her daddy, we're packed EARLY (which never happens), and the townhouse is pretty much clean. That means a night of peace, quiet, and quality time for Jay and I. Woo hoo for us! *eyebrow-wigglin' grin*
So I've decided this means we are, as of tonight, irregardless, still officially on vacation, too!

As if something is trying to keep me from getting there, I have been battling all damn day with finances, my truck, and planning. Put the TV's in the truck for a nice trip up, tested the playstation, all is fine finally, then Jill noticed the temp of the truck rising and rising. Then I noted one of my dual 15" fans wasnt spinning. Great. Next 2 hours was on figuring out what was wrong with it and disassembled it to see what was up. Freaking contacts were broke on the inside. So, snatched the radiator fan off my car since it is apart and hooked it up. Works just fine. Now to change the oil in the morning. What else can go wrong. So far, still going to make it up there.

I don't think anybody lives near the Cincinnati area, do they?? I did talk to Roy about it tonight, and he agreed that it's possible, but that it's going to depend on a few factors, like when exactly he gets off the ship. The other problem really is gas money. Eeesh... 3.49 a gallon here. Even tho I'd be taking the car, which gets pretty good gas mileage, it'll still be a bit unless the price drops dramatically between now and then. gah. this is what happens when you don't pay your state taxes all year and have to pay it all at the end. *wrygrin*

Cincy is right on the border of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana and I'm just inside the Indiana border. The 275 loop around the city is literally 15 minutes away from me. if TT were going this year I could hitch a ride with her since she only lives about 30 min from me, but I don't believe she's going this year. :'(
We shall see what happens tho.. but yeah.. if anyone goes thru here, I'd love it if there were room for me to squeeze in! *grin*

I have a step-brother that is in the army and stationed in Korea, him and his girlfriend is getting leave to be able to come state side, so I am gonna go visit with them and other family members

hell if I could..we dun get many in july..maybe a tropical storm or two..but the hurricanes mainly pimp slap up in august and september...lol..two worst months for them..the odd combo of hot and cold air and the lake and gulf getting wonky..but fuck ya gotta make it easier for us southern tip peeps..or hire babysitters..that would be a huge!!! help...book one room for nothing but someone to watch peoples kids who can't afford to leave them..lmao..of course we'd have to pay extra for medical care for the person(s) watching the rugrats..but hey..lmao

FYI, one of the liquor stores here is selling Shmirnoff TRIPLE DISTILLED (ie, the good stuff) Vodka for 8 bucks a bottle for the plastic 750mL. Y'all may want to see if your store has the same sale since vodka is pretty popular at the Gathering too... *grin* According to the sales lady, it's a schmirnoff.. or however the hell you spell it... sale.. not their store exclusively.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to make the whole trip with alcohol so I'll have to pitch in for it when I get there. If we have to buy that extra case of rum one bottle at a time the so be it. I fianlly made my plane reservation a couple days ago, but the flight times aren't what I thought they'd be and I don't have the extra $150 to make it more convenient so here's the deal for everyone on the Mal & Sah happy wagon northbound... I get in Weds night. It's 8 hours to get to lure so I'm not sure if we'll actually be leaving that night at midnight or what...it depends on Mal's ability to stay awake at night. Otherwise, it's going to be a looooooooooooooooooong day of driving on Thursday, but it'll get us in there LATE thursday night. I'm sure we can find enough to talk about to keep Mal and I's eyes open for the drive.
Most important of all, I need to be sure of the list I have of those joining the bandwagon. I need to know for sure everyone going!!!

I'll know by this thursday or friday if I'm able to go or not. It all depends on when Hubby gets home. He's SUPPOSED to fly home on the 8th, which would mean I'd be able to go. But, if they get delayed at any of the ports in the next week, a distinct possibility, then it could be the 9th... which means I'd PROBABLY get to go. But, if they have a MAJOR delay, which has happened more times than I care to think about, then he could get pushed back to the 10th. If that's the case, then I'm not going. Less than 2 days before Amber picks me up is not enough recuperation time for him. The way he's saying it is, let's wait and see how I'm feeling if I get home late.
I am NOT bringing the Kymlet with me. As much as I love her, and I know how much people want to see her, I need a break from her. *chuckles* Besides, Daddy is really looking forward to spending some quality time with her while I'm gone. I'll bring tons of pics tho.

Well, I talked with hubby tonight. Remember when I said that it happens more times than we like to count that they get majorly delayed? Well, it's happened again. The Gareyville LO dock has a really bad habit of being slow, not on top of things, and just in general, a pain in the ass. They've actually spent 4 days there before because their refinery wasn't working properly and so it took that long to fill their tanks. He's not really sure what the problem is this time, since they got there at NOON, and when he talked to me at 7pm, they had JUST connected two of the hoses. They're estimating two days to fill, when it should normally only take 24 hours or so.
So anyway, at this current estimate, IF they get into Ft Lauderdale to dump the tanks right away, he'll be getting home probably late tuesday night. Tha'ts just not enough recuperation time by thursday when Amber, Terran, and Alex would be getting here, for him.
There is always that very slight chance that they will actually get their collective butts in gear and get them out in record time, but I'm not holding my breath. So unless some amazing miracle happens, I'll see y'all next year!
I'm disappointed, yes, but I'm not devestated. I wanted to see everyone, and I wanted a break and a mini vacation, but at the same time, I'll get to spend the weekend with hubby, and thats good too.
Rags, I need ya to pm me ye snail mail so I can send ya this box o' stuff! *chuckles* Y'all can think of me, and have a drink for me, when you see's it.

There is always that very slight chance that they will actually get their collective butts in gear and get them out in record time, but I'm not holding my breath. So unless some amazing miracle happens, I'll see y'all next year!
I'm disappointed, yes, but I'm not devestated. I wanted to see everyone, and I wanted a break and a mini vacation, but at the same time, I'll get to spend the weekend with hubby, and thats good too.

For those who are curious, this is the general gameplan for the Gathering...
Thursday 12th
Get checked in and set up the area.
Hopefully all arriving on Thursday will be in and able to head for the Golden Corral by 7:30 PM or shortly after for dinner. Hang out and eat, then return to Motel and relax.
Friday 13th
Breakfast at the diner (Someone usually beats down doors for this, so no time is needed.)
Return to the porch of Dragonslair to relax and enjoy the company. Runs to Wal Mart etc are usually made and pool is available while awaiting more arrivals.
Some volunteers are drafted to help prepare for the games on Saturday.
Day is pretty much open to enjoy.
7'ish PM... Dinner at Sunny's Chinese Buffet. Most of the cuisine is oriental, but other items are also available for those not wishing, or unable to do oriental seafood etc.
After dinner runs are made and return to Motel.
PARTY TIME!!!
Saturday 14th
Breakfast door banging for chow at the diner.
Volunteers drafted for game preps and cookout preps.
Devon finally gets to relax and enjoy after two years of slaving over a hot grill!!! Raziel and Tegutai will be the main event at grillside this year. Stay tuned for this event. Will Raz spaz or will Teg remove all hair from the waist up? Tune in and see!!!! Cooking will begin late afternoon.
GAMES GAMES GAMES!!! Conducted periodically throughout the day and evening starting around 1'ish.
Fear Factor Maze style well after dark. Heh heh heh....
Party til you drop.
Sunday 15th
Breakfast at the diner.
Sad farewells to those leaving. Huggers and kisses shared, tears, wishes for a safe journey home.
Relax and enjoy.
Finish up cookout leftovers and/or resupply what is needed for dinner.
Teardown and packing of non-essential items.
Monday 16th
Pack up and checkout before breakfast.
Sad farewells exchanged and wishes for a safe trip back home.
Gathering 2007 finished.
Begin planning and looking forward to Gathering 2008!!!
Itinerary is only a rough outline. As past Gatherings dictate... schedule is subject to change.
The weather here thus far has been extremely hot and humid. Pack and dress accordingly please.
Motel towels are small. If you wish a large bathtowel or large pooltowel please remember to pack one.
If you are able to bring a lawnchair(s) please do so. Some will be available in limited quantity.
Pool floaties are permitted. If you wish to bring some please do. We do have a Dollar Store and a Wal Mart if you wish to just get them here.
Once you get checked in, please check in with woobie or Kelsey with your $10.00 for the cookout so we have an accurate headcount and can get an accurate grocery list. This will cover the supplies for Saturday. You are responsible for supplying your own drinks and/or anything specific you wish outside of the planned cookout menu.
Please remember to keep the Porch area clean. Cigarette butts go in the buttcans, drink empties go in the trashcan. Cleanup is easy if we each do our part. Because we tend to ourselves so well we are allowed the liberties at our Gathering most at the motel are not.
Lunch and snacks are up to the individual. For those with dietary needs or medical requirements, the diner is available during business hours.

-reads...glares..sharpens spikes and loads the gun for the supposed wake up call for this odd thing called breakfast-...anything even resembling a wake up knock coming near a room i am in will be met with hostile responces...namely violence of a vicious nature and/or testicular/breast maiming...I do not do mornings nor do I do breakfast nor fo I do knocks on doors which wake up a four yr old child before its time..hence there will be fonging and pain..lol...-lays out spike strips..razor wire and the trained attack ferrets-...other than that I am down with the rest of it..except i dun got no make up i can spare...i dont have alot of it anyways..lmao

As for the wake up knocks....be wary....I wasnt prepared last year because of my job allowing me to sleep late but now, I get up before the sun does and who knows, I might be just waiting on that knock and we will be having something else cooked up on the grill.

We're leaving at 6 am our time Thursday morning. Which means...we should be arriving at 4 pm your time Thursday afternoon. Between 4 or 5 in case of traffic, being pulled over, and what not. Plenty of time for a quick dip, quick showers, and lots of hugs and relaxation before dinner. -smiles-

Started Training when I was 3. Military Family. Never stayed in one place long enough for Me to get a Blackbelt in other styles. If You dont find a school that is the exact same style you have to start at White again. Want Me to count My Yellow and Green Belts?

Bear.... I don't really care, nor do I think anyone else does what color belt you hold your pants up with... nor do we hold a contest of throwing people onto roofs.
Chatters from Maze... and not just from Gor... get together and meet new friends and re-establish older friendships, talk, share, and create lasting memories of good people and fun.
That is what it is all about... and that is what the Gathering will continue to be.

I have been training since I was born. Trained in the art of life and soon to die at some point. I have been a military brat and also served my country because...well...just felt I should. Trained men in the art of combat....hell....in the military and in Camp...whether they learn is up to them...lol.
We just like to have some fun in camp and the gathering. The gathering is the best.
Me personally...well...I got me several black and brown belts....mine are from Sears and Wal Mart.

PS - some of us do know about belts...and yellow and green...are just second and third belts...you practically only need to show up to the testing date and site to get those. I know I started off in yellow a few times and skipped the green once.
