Title: Summer Migration
Post by: RAGNAR on June 06, 2009, 09:31:52 PM
Story Teller
: It has been a busy day. The bosk are being seperated teams from wild. The sleen cages have been loaded onto their wagons. The commissary wagon has been packed up except for necessities. Even the Tuchuk standard has been loaded upon its wagon and is ready to roll.

: Camp seems to be waiting for the column to return from The Point..... resupp;y.... and for the general herd to begin making its way southward. Clans are finishing up their work before the move.

: Freight wagons have had their loads combined, leaving many empty and awaiting the word to resupply. If resupply is unable to begin within the next cew days, it is highly likely Tuchuk will have to make do without.

: RAGNAR had worked in the Clan wagon most of the day. Then before a bath in the river he inspected progress on the preps for migration. Now he paces within his wagon... not wishing to be disturbed... as his thoughts keep going over details of migration, the column at The Point.... the camp's resupply at the Point.... trying to beat the fast approaching rainy season high in the Voltai which will send waters to swell the River of Tears beyond crossing. Will migration have to proceed without supplies? Will there be time? How many may be lost by waiting, and how many by going now? These are a few of the things weighing heavy upon his shoulders.

: There was just an overwhelming feeling of hurry up and wait in Tuchuk. It was almost maddening awaiting the command to do something.... anything.

RAGNAR

The entire inner circle population has loaded up freighters and have set out for The Point in hopes of final resupply before we begin migration.

Low grazed grass and burnt off area from most likely a lightning strike made for extremely dusty conditions on the first leg of the journey. The wagons did cross the river and have halted to allow a minor storm to pass before heading out as soon as it is dry enough come the morrow.

It does slow us down, but it also allows more time for supplies to reach The Point as well. We just cannot allow too much time to be wasted. We are on a deadly tight schedule. If we do not beat the Voltai rains we will have to cross the River of Tears at its highest and most dangerous.

No fires.... dried bosk meat and cheese is available. Tend to the stock and wait out the storm.

End report.

RAGNAR

The column has reached The Point and have been directed to camp between the livery and the wagon repair yard.

Bosk and kaiila are being tended to and has been financially covered by myself for Tuchuk. It is much easier than trying to have everyone tend their own critters all at once with limited access as we have here. Let the livery people handle it all.

The Point is nowhere near as crowded this time. We are the last camp to seek resupply before migration and unfortunately the pickings are very slim. We will have to rely on luck above all luck that caravans arrive to fill all our needs.

I had ridden ahead and was able to take part in an auction of remaining bulk goods from merchants clearing out their warehouse areas to head back north for new goods. Prices were high and I know I paid more than the items are normally worth. But they are needed and that does tend to drive prices up. Thus far I have heard nothing regarding the arrival of medical supplies ordered by my True Raziel. Perhaps they will arrive tomorrow.

The purchases I did manage thus far have been offloaded by our wagons and will have to be loaded come morning.

200......... one gorean weight sacks of suls......... 10 silver  (The last of the bulk suls for sale)

100......... one gorean weight sacks of salt..........  6 silver  (The last of the bulk salt)

300......... 12 count cases of assorted juices........  8 silver and 4 copper  (The last of the big bulk juices.)

Items awaiting delivery, not paid for:

300............. bolts of plain white cloth for body bags...... 1 gold and 2 silver

1,000.......... spools of white thread............................. 5 silver

500............. two talu casks of tharlarion oil.................. 7 dbl wt gold and 1 gold

2................. one gorean weight kegs of nails................ 6 copper

There are no more bulk of the following:

onions
garlic
pepper
sugars
fresh fruits
fresh veggies
salted parsits
ale
mead
paga
wines

**Note... these items may be found in small amount from smaller vendors if you are lucky for individual wagon useage.

I only hope the medical supplies arrive before we must leave. We cannot afford to stay her more than a day plus but less than two. The River of Tears has me extremely worried.

Thunder and rain threatens. So all goods not inside of the domed freighters will have to be bosk hide covered to ward off rain. Secure it all well. We can ill afford to lose even a single item.

Commander Raziel, Sidona, Malefic, and myself have coin to loan to those in need.

Clans must see to their own supplies this time. I will not tend to other people's Clans!

All slaves camp and private may receive two copper with my thanks for their service. Purchase what you need with it.

All Clans may borrow up to twenty silver max. to be repaid come summer migration of next year.

Individuals may borrow up to two silver to be repaid by winter migration.

All medical supplies may be paid for from camp funds. Commander Raziel knows what he ordered. He knows what must be paid.

Tuchuk...... business and work first. Then play. No baths have been paid for this time. If you wish one you must pay for it yourself. I have arranged for fresh tabuk to be delivered to our camp for our fires. Drinks and other extras must be secured on your own.

I expect a hard migration. Plan on it. Prepare for it. If you think you may need it.... find a way to get it. Your life may depend on it.

not meaning to derail this thread, but on one of my infrequent pop ins to camp last week, I thought I saw dilshad (and npc's) unloading a freight wagon in camp full of medical supplies.  Thus far nothing has been posted to indicate what they were.  He made reference to medical symbols on the crates since he can't read

Inventory was delivered, accounted for, taken in and paid.

The items were as follows:

300............. bolts of plain white cloth for body bags...... 1 gold and 2 silver

1,000.......... spools of white thread............................. 5 silver

500............. two talu casks of tharlarion oil.................. 7 dbl wt gold and 1 gold

I have not recieved the nails.

Medical supplies also were delivered but far under what I had originally ordered.  It was less than half of what I ordered and even worse, the value was equivalent for nearly 3 times that amount.

8.............Gorean Weight of Blue Grass sacks
6.............Gorean Weight of Green Powder sacks
2.............Gorean Weight of Sleeping Powder sacks
2.............Gorean Weight of Black Pepper sacks
1.............Gorean Weight of Hemp sacks
5.............Crates of 125 each of Honey
2.............Crates of 125 each of IV solution
1.............Crate of 200 empty Jars
1.............Crate of tweezers/needles/scalpels (200 each set)
1.............Crate of 125 each Frobicain

3 DWT, 1 gold, 8 silvers

Lack of medical supplies concern me but the Clan of Healers will do their best to ration out and make do.

Watch Commander Fujida

All was quiet during the night. RAGNAR returned to the wagons briefly to get something to eat and get some water to drink. He looks like ten pasang of rough road already. He has not slept since Tuchuk was in camp. He seems irritable and extremely angry at the cost of goods this trip. He is not happy about his nails not being delivered and intends to find out why. He soon left and was headed for a predawn bartering and auction in the admin lodge.

A steady rain began to fall and it is giving everything a good soaking. At least it is one of those warm comfortable rains and not the cold rains we receive before the snows.

Just as a thin line of light was spotted on the horizon wagons began making deliveries.

The following has been delivered and paid for;

500.......... one gorean weight sacks of feed grain.............................. 1 gold
10...........  ten count crates of shovels............................................ 2 silver

Subtotal................. 1 gold and 2 silver

20............  wagon tongues............................................................
50............  wagon axels................................................................
10............  heavy duty ten foot diameter rear freighter wheels............. (Auctioned as lot)

Subtotal................ 4 gold and 3 silver

Total............... 5 gold and 5 silver

The grain is still on the delivery wagon under cover to keep it dry. It will have to be loaded onto our wagons and covered as soon as the rain quits. (Midday)

Cassius is still asleep from the knock on the head and the sutures and care rendered by Malefic and Sidona.

An Or of Tuchuks rode back into our area at first light. One was slightly wounded and was tended by his brothers. A coin box was placed in my custody and has been logged in as holding 19 gold, 33 silver, 237 copper and 690 bits. It also contained four severed fingers the Or Commander refered to as "Greedy Fingers". I have placed the box and contents under the control of the Askari guarding the treasure wagon.

RAGNAR

We have left The Point for the last time this season and are heading back home.

The weather is not cooperating and we have experienced stormy weather with rain until just before daybreak when the storm moved on further south.

The mud creates hard travel and the river was higher than usual but no deeper than five feet in depth. It actually helped us by washing away a great deal of accumulated mud from the wheels and axles.

The wagons will not be stopping, but rather will continue straight through and should reach Tuchuk by midday.

All supplies will be unloaded and dispersed to where they are needed. Use the pitch to seal up the cracks between the lumber of the wagon platforms to help discourage water from splashing up into the wagon as well as thwarting moisture in general from getting in the cracks.

Make all possible repairs and make ready for migration as quickly as possible.

It is good to have Cassius back with us though he is still out of sorts and will need to be checked when we have the proper facilities to do so.

Sidona had a rear axle crack on the way home but it was clamped and made it the rest of the way home. This Axel must be replaced prior to migration. Carrigan AKA Girly Girl #3 remained with Sidona until they reached Tuchuk.

It was not easy getting the wagons moving. I finally had to nap and grab a quick bite of dried bosk to eat before mounting up and getting busy.

The ground is soft on top but firm beneath that except in the lower spots. There is still standing water there which has now been churned into sticky first rate mud.

We broke camp and unwound from the center outward once again encircling the perimeter of camp in order to make sure everyone is able to move and none are left behind.

The wagons are halted in the circle with the lead wagons pointed Southerly. All bosk are still harnessed and the wagons will begin to roll at first light and continue onwards until I have decided my ass has been in the saddle long enough. We are racing the weather... but at this point we may already have lost. Time will tell.

I have ridden ahead to check our route and have left Raziel temporarily in command until my return.

Cassius

I relieved Raziel on Watch and continued onward until moving the wagons into rocky ground. No boulders, but some rocks that bear watching out for. Overall the wagons can navigate the area with care with minimal danger or damage. It does keep the wagons from sinking in the mud as the teams and mounts are tended to. There is grass among the rocks and if that runs out slaves can draw scythes and cut grass and bring it to the teams.

Fires are permitted at individual wagons and hot food permitted. Orders were not to overindulge though.

A light rain has caught up with us and will continue on through the morning until midday. When the ground beyond is checked and will support the wagons we will move on.

RAGNAR has still not returned from scouting ahead. I do hope nothing has happened as he is riding alone.

The main herd is just off to our right flank and they seem fine and dandy.

As far as I have been informed, One child was injured by a wagon wheel but survived... one Warrior and his mount was killed by a lightning strike... and one Outrider is missing and being searched for.

At first light scrape the mud from the wheels and axles. Grease the axles and make sure everything is fully operational.

Salem

Migration is going much slower than anticipated. The mud has slowed the move considerably and has already begun to wear down the teams. The Wagons were halted on the flats with mudboards under the wheels to try and keep them from sinking into the earth too badly.

The bosk need to rest. Tend them and look them over carefully. The main herd is just off our right flank. We do have extra team bosk available to replace those in very bad shape. It is expected there will be some. Even BERAT is showing wear and tear though he will continue on.

Check all leather for wear, damage, or stretching. Remove built up mud from wheels and axles. Grease them well or mud may enter where grease should be and rest assured your wagon will break down.

Small private fires.... hot food within reason. Might be a good idea to take in additional protein.

The herd Outriders have been relieved. Please consider offering these Men part of your hot food or drink. Many of these Men have no Woman or slave to tend them. They have been living off dried bosk and water for the last few days.

At first light unhitch the teams from the wagons but leave them in harness. Allow them to graze close by their wagons until midday then hook them back up. while they graze check under the loose leather for signs of wear or sores.

The River of Tears is not much further ahead. Brace yourselves for whatever you may see. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Thus far no reports have been turned in regarding lost stock except for one tarsk on this watch. No dead. One injured. Wapike was kicked in the nuts by a kaiila. At last report his nuts were swollen and he was reported to be laying on a wagon floor pissing all over himself. There should be a Healer's report filed on this sometime soon.

RAGNAR has not yet returned... but this is not so strange given conditions.

Kiah discovered an old wagon jack the hard way. It was salvaged and was being cleaned and will soon be known if it will be made to work again.

I feel I can safely say we all are sick of this mud. We wish for a beautiful sunny day of blue skies and green rich grass. At least we are confident that is what awaits us at the end of this journey.

Shoko-

According to the healers reports we have lost one warrior, his body was sewn into a shroud and will be held untill we are across the RoT.

the child whos leg was crushed is healing decently, he will need further work done on his leg in the future should he regain his mobility, but for now the child is practing his throwing, a wooden quiva he was given hits its mark nine out of ten times.

I have tended Wapike myself this afternoon, we have a seemingly limitless supply of cool mud, and I have given him some, giving specific instructions of the application of it. I gave him a bit of moss paste to try to get the swelling down, but he is to keep the application of the mud as frequent as possisable.

The main herd has crossed the River of Tears with losses. The exact number will not be known for a few days when a proper headcount can be made. As it is, 100 dead bosk have been accounted for and twenty injured. This is only on our side of the river. This does not include those washed downriver or those that made it across but were so spent they were unable to continue.

Nothing is to be wasted. Skin them out, save the horns, cook the meat so all of Tuchuk can eat who wish to.... slaves included. NOTHING is to be wasted.

The mudboards are in use once again and the standing orders are in effect to tend the stock, the wagons, harness and traces, etc.

Gather the tarsk and load them into empty cages on the freight wagons. Separate them so if misfortune strikes we will not lose them all in one fell swoop. The same is to be done with the verr.

There have been injuries and a Healers report will follow.

The river is high. The usual downgrades into the river are now underwater. It is my hope that come the morrow there will be no further rains and the level will drop as much as possible. Even if it does it will prove to be a hard crossing.

I have taken short naps and will eat of the fallen bosk. Hopefully the Healers will not hound me at least. I will eat well when we have reached Turia... as I expect many will as that seems to usually be the end of the serious threats to our home and family. After Turia it is only the other camps and the occasional raiding party from a ship since we settle so far south.

But that all seems so far away. The far bank of the River of Tears seems to far away.

RAGNAR

We have crossed the River of Tears. Halfway across a storm caught up with us and made the crossing even harder. Thankfully the storm has ended and left us with a humid but pleasant evening.

The RoT was high and hazardous to say the least. There is a great deal of damage to wagons and property.

I fear there was great loss of stock and of Tuchuk life, but I may be wrong. At times of great turmoil and stress it is not uncommon for it to seem losses are much higher than they actually are. At least I can hope.

Exact figures will not be in for a few days as yet... so until then we will have to conduct ourselves accordingly and presume all missing have passed on and hope they turn up.

We have casualties in both stock and Tuchuks. I can only await the injury reports from our Healers on Tuchuk.... and from our stock Clansmen for our beasts.

I have accounted for my immediate family and am greatly relieved. But I do feel sadness and some guilt that I still live when others may not.

My True Raziel's mount gave its all this crossing and died at the water's edge. It served him well and died well. I watched as my True crouched by his fallen mount. I could have called him back to duty immediately, but I felt it best for my True to have an opportunity to release emotionally if he needed to, even if it were just a few moments to reflect.

I feel as if the entire camp has rolled over me. The only thing that does not hurt is my hair. But there are others worse off than I. A bit of sleep and a bit of hot food and I will be ready to push on.

General orders will remain much the same....

Tend the bosk, kaiila, fed the tarsk, verr, and vulo. Keep the smaller critters on the wagons until we get clear of the mud. They are getting a bit thin from burning off energy to keep up through the goop.

Check the harnesses and yokes. Check the wagons top to bottom, and then do it again. Temporary repairs will have to be made on many from the looks of things. I do know Sidona's wagon will need her rear axle and wheels replaced.

Everyone will be sure to find some time to rest and to eat well. There is no doubt in my mind there is more than enough meat available.

I will not be surprised to not cover much ground when next we move. But the further away from the river we get the better. I hope to be out of the rainbelt within a day or two if all goes well. Then I hope to be able to make up some lost time on firmer ground.

Patrols will ride downriver a minimum of four pasang to search for survivors along the banks, both stock and man. A freight wagon will follow to carry back bodies and recover whatever goods may be found.

May our pyres be small.

So tired. More figures to come.

Sidona - fractured leg, right above the ankle... bones were set and bandaged, mud laid over the first layer of bandage, then splinted and bandage placed over the splints to keep the bones in place, willow bark given for pain...

Sarant - deep wound on her left ankle caused by an arrow.. she was brought to the medical wagon by george after rescuing me after my mount lost his footing and tossed me from the saddle... and IV was started as she lost a good amount of blood, the wound was cleaned out, then stitched, bandaged after having agrimony salve applied to the stitched wound..

Amber and Kelsey are working the surgical wagon, Shoko, Taryn and Leticia are tending to the wounded still coming in from the river crossing, Boris is helping to triage the injured that are still coming in sending them off to either the medical or surgical wagons...

The medical wagon is teeming with injured, as Amber, Kelsey and the other healers working the surgical wagon have been working all through the night to save those who have come in, Taryn had ordered that black wine and hot tea be brewed for those coming in from the cold river...

The casuality totals are only preliminary, but at the last count, at daybreak, that were able to be counted by Boris and Taryn, were 136... A wagon has been set aside to place the dead in, and a group of apprentices have been given the task of cleaning and preparing them for identification by family...

The wagons remained in place this day. Too many wagons required repairs, too many weary.... too much mud..... the rest was necessary.

Ubar has ridden out well before dawn to scout the area up ahead, and returned just before sunset. He relaxed against a crate by the fire intending to only do so for a moment but exhaustion overtook even he.

Everyone seemed to be eating well this day. There is plenty of fresh meat to do so.

Many have begun to claim their dead, and pyres burn bright. There is a sense of loss, yet also a feeling of victory. Tuchuk has managed to survive.

All is under control in the med wagons and the Healers have begun to rotate their watches again.

All wagons have been inspected and will roll.... how long or far some will go is the question. Hopefully they will make Turia for repairs or replacement.

Patrols have been finding people, stock and property washed up further downriver and are returning to camp.

The river seems calmer this night than it did this morning. But it is still high and looks can be deceiving. It is still moving fast and is still deadly.

General Orders remain in effect. Make ready to move just after midday meal. Make it a good meal. Hard to tell when we may get the opportunity for hot food before reaching Turia.

The wagons have moved up to the tall grasses on top of the upgrade where Tuchuk Warriors made a stand last migration. The upgrade was a mess. Mud and ruts made the going extremely difficult. The main herd made up, and all the wagons made it. We did lose a water barrel which injured Cassius... and a thrall was killed. Awaiting the Healer reports on both.

RAGNAR chose to give the downgrade another night and morning to firm up before the wagons must roll down it. Let us hope no more rain falls. It will be hazardous enough as it is. I would have risked it, but I guess thats why RAGNAR is Ubar.

The tarsk and verr were released to be herded once again.

Weather speaking, it was beautiful today and it is a good night. A good strong breeze blows, but the temperatures are warm and we begin to notice a drop in the humidity.

Eat whatever you have available. Just remember we are still several days from Turia and resupply.

General Orders to remain the same.

I hate mud. I hate slopes. I hate wagon accidents. I hate bosk getting hurt. I hate saddle sores. I hate itchy balls. I hate hemorrhoids.

Tuchuk descended the slope this day and is now halted for the night at the base in the flats.

Not all the figures are in, but at least one wagon was completely destroyed resulting on one death and several others sustained light damage with one heavily damaged.

Minor injuries include Salem who was gored by a bull. Nothing serious. Was cleaned up, salved, elevated and wrapped. He will be able to return to duty come the morrow.

Raziel saved a young child from certain death by a demolished wagon. He sustained a minor back injury requiring cleaning and sutures. He too will be able to return to duty come the morrow. He did lose his jerkin and was irritated about that.

Cassius will be off duty for some time recovering from a concussion, a broken arm and broken collarbone.

Sidona has a broken ankle but is able to drive a team if need be. She is just unable to walk on it.

It seems my Woman Shoko has a child earlier than expected. She has taken in the child Raziel saved until other family members are located. The little girl snores and squeaks in her sleep... and her diapers are horrid.

All general orders remain in effect.

More details when further reports come in.

We mad good time today. Did I mention I hate dust? We have moved into a drier area and the wagons and beasts are kicking up a great deal of dust.

We have stopped for the night and the teams and wagons must be tended.

On orders from RAGNAR there is to be no outdoor fires. No visible lights. Maintain noise discipline. Though Pops gave no reason why, rumor has it a large force of Kassar are close by. We will fight if we have to, but would rather not if there is no gain in it.

All the guard has been doubled.

Vague report from the Bosk Tender Clan is one had to be put down during the march.

Healers duty reports forthcoming.

Get as much rest as possible. With luck we will reach water come the morrow and refill our barrels and stock.

It has been reported that the fresh veggies and fruits secured from the Point are gone. What few supplies that could be had are for the most part depleted as far as food stores go. With all the injured I do not yet have reports on the medical supplies.

Last night Cassius was given a small dose of valerian as the ride inside the medical wagon got a bit rough, and with the jerking and jarring I thought it a good idea to make the ride a bit more comfortable...

Sarant came into the med wagon after Cassius called for her ~wiggles finger in ear as I can still hear the shout ringing in my left ear~ when she came in and propped her foot up onto the cot, Cassius noted that her foot smelled worse than having been in a boot for a prolonged period of time, as I leaned over to take a sniff, to see if he was joking, I pulled back as I realized he was being gentlemanly in his assessment... I removed the bandage, which was soiled with blood and clear pus, when I removed the stitches, the packet of infection was opened and began to drain, I was able to clear out all of the pus, and have placed a pack into the wound, a dressing was laid over the wound and her ankle rewrapped.... Over the course of the night, I kept an eye on her to make sure the infection hasn't gotten any deeper, Sarant hasn't developed a fever, and I am hoping that it stays that way...

Also received word that Taryn has been relieved of duty for her shift today, and has been ordered to get some sleep, I did see her earlier this morning going from wagon to wagon, helping do minor repairs, and from what I could tell she still hasn't gotten much sleep, if any, but Boris and I will keep an eye on her

I will also get with the other healers to see about the inventory of medical supplies...

The wagons made good time this day despite thick choking dust.

The Kassar that were close last night moved on just before dawn, and if they knew we were there they did not let on.

We did run into some Kataii this day. During the move and thick dust, they managed to slip between our Outriders and get within our column. There was so much dust settled on us all we all looked alike.... a dusty tan color. They attempted to make off with the med wagon, a freighter, and the Bowyer Clan wagon. It is guestimated they numbered about an Orlu.

Chaos and a skirmish ensued. 21 Kataii wounded were taken to the med wagon. How many survive is yet to be seen. 17 Tuchuk wounded were taken to the med wagon for treatment. There were 33 Kataii dead and 26 Tuchuk. There is one Tuchuk missing and an Or has stayed behind to search for him.

The wagons are stopped on the northern side of a small river no deeper than three feet in the center. We will remain here overnight and enter Turia come the morrow. The main herd and two thousand Outriders are awaiting us at Turia.

Eat... tend the stock well.... especially noses and eyes due to dust. Also check the ears as well. General orders all in affect. Come morning clean up so we look like Tuchuks and not some dirty bums when we reach Turia. Fires permitted but keep them small.

Guards are doubled for security.

-=Healers Report=-

-=Leticia=-

Cassius and Boris both were taken to the surgical wagon to have their wounds tended to by either Kelsey or Amber, last report I got was the Cassius had come through the surgery well, he had an arrow to the belly... Boris was in more serious condition, he had three arrows removed, one from his upper thigh, which barely missed the femoral artery, another one from his lower left chest/abdomen damaging his diaphram, nicking his left lung as well, and the last one was in his right shoulder, lodging in his collar bone... Both of them are on IV's with doses of valerian to keep them in comfort, as well as antibotics have been given through the IV...

Taryn is restless after waking up after passing out from exhaustion and pain... She has stitches in her right palm down to her wrist from what I am to understand was from her own quiva, her pelvis is severely bruised, but I was not able to find out if it might be cracked or not with her not able to withstand touch to the area, and swelling, her left arm was bleeding badly by the time a healer got to her, she pulled the quiva out during the fight, pepper was used to stop the bleeding, and then cleaned, stitched inside and out, she is also hooked up to an IV, with a round of antibotics and has been given valerian to help keep her pain levels down and this in turn is causing her to sleep, though even then it's been restless, and this morning she woke up screaming, in a cold sweat as well, she claims she doesn't remember what caused this reaction and hasn't said much since...

Sarant was tended to, as she had a quiva slice to her left shoulder, leaving a 5 inch gash, this was cleaned, sutured and bandaged... Her ankle wound was tended to as it was opened more than it was, it has been cleaned, more packing has been put in place to try and draw out any infection that had tried to set in before, and bandaged... She has been told she is to stay in the medical wagon until another healer can come to check on her ankle and see if more packing is needed or not...

The medical and surgical wagon is starting to settle down into their routine again, also a wagon has been set aside to clean and allow family to claim them...

RAGNAR

We have reached Turia. The small river crossing passed without incident and all was well as we reached the walled City.

Tuchuk is in the migration area outside a secondary gate near the repair yard. If your wagon requires major structural repair.... see it is done. Minor cosmetic and functional repairs can be done by our own people.

The teams will remain in their harness by the yokes removed so they may graze through the wagon area. The troughs have been offloaded and filled for their use.

Tend the teams well. Check all critters and tend as needed.

All slaves have been gifted five copper by me to purchase items they may need. Naturally privately owned slaves should check with their Owners.

Stock up and resupply as much as possible. We may not see a resupply in quite some time. It is not unknown to stock up so much items are in plain view secured all over wagon platforms as well as within.

Anyone needing a loan may see RAGNAR, Raziel, Sidona, or Wapike for funds. There will be no interest on these loans but they must be repaid by next migration. This should not be a problem as luck usually smiles on Tuchuk during the summering.

We will not be in Turia long. We need to press on to our lands. Business first... then pleasure.

Try to behave for a change. Try to avoid detention. Try to avoid altercation. Try to avoid killings. Raziel.... try not to get blamed for bad dealings. Terran..... Malefic.... try not to go all Tuchuk on people and slay them. Shoko, Amber.... try not to make fun of the walking talking tapestries called Turian Women. Wapike..... leave the Turian slaves alone. Sarant.... behave. Shylina.... try not to slay anyone just because they grow fond of your tits. Oh forget it. Wasted breath. Just try not to get caught for anything you do.

Still in Turia. All is well thus far and I am pleased to see the cost of items here are normal compared to the higher inflated costs at The Point last visit. It does seem there is plenty to be had as well.

Most wagons have been repaired and returned to the column. The remainder should be finished come the morrow.

Stock up on supplies. I cannot stress this enough. Next supply is unknown.

I have spent most of the day in the repair yard overseeing the finishing touches on a new freighter. It too will be finished by tomorrow midday.

RAGNAR

Another day spent in Turia. We will have to pull out tomorrow evening and head for our lands. The main herd grows restless with all the tarn traffic taking place.

Our resupply is growing slowly and must pick up or we will just have to do without.

I have doubled the Guard around the freighters filled with goods and have doubled the mounted patrols around the wagon column. Some may feel I am nervous. I am. I just have a bad feeling we have not seen the last of the Kataii and I wish to deter them as much as possible.

I spent most of the day in talks with the Administrator again. I am convinced he is one of the biggest kaiila asses I have met... but he is after all a City Dweller. Lack of fresh air may affect the brain in such ways.

At any rate..... finish the resupply and make ready the wagons. We pull out as soon as possible. We shoot for first light, but I have a feeling it will take until midday to find all our Warriors and separate them from their sluts and booze.

Migration Entry Fourteen

Raziel

Late start, foul mood.  We are behind.  The main herd are a good 3 ahns ahead of us, this is due to stragglers within the city.  There are times I think many a warrior forget that we are on migration.

We have resupplied just enough to deal with migration and keep us stocked up through up to next migration.  The rest we can build and trade for when in summering lands.

Patrols are sent to flanks with Askari riding inner perimeter sweep.  Scouts are about an ahn ahead.  We are wary of the Kataii and even the Kassar, though we have not seen them lately.

All the wagons are as repaired as they can be with the main focus on the axles and base flooring.  Hopefully they will hold till we have reached summering lands.

I am riding within the wagons to render aid where I can and for now, to allow quick response to an attack.

Addition to last report.

Terran

Wagons have stopped for the night. Good ground covered after a late start.

A male pleasure slave from Turia leaped from Taryn's wagon to run back to Turia and was run over, crushing his legs but leaving him very much alive. Sidona got tired of hearing his screams and ran over him to finish him off.

Wapike was struck in the left nut by a chain link that snapped free. While bemoaning his injury he rode into a spare wagon tongue lashed to a railing and was dismounted by the end of the tongue impacting his face. He is in the med wagon after Sarant shouted the alarm and had him carried inside hence saving his life from being run over. Both eyes are black, nose is bloody, and the Healers had to measure what was largest..... his injured swollen left nut of the knot between his eyes. I did not stick around for the results.

Fires permitted... hot food if desired.

We have arrived at our summering lands. The encampment is forming and should be completed by daybreak. Then the work of settling in begins.

Wagons are beginning directed to their lots. Check the camp Board for your final location and inform me of you have no lot.

Final reports will follow.
