So..I started monitoring my blood pressure again, and yeah, its not so good, but, its not horrid either. Bu I have to go see my doctor on Wednesday afternoon.... 163/112 is just too high for me
-
good luck darlin! I hope you can get it down to what it needs to be
-
wishing you the best of luck with this
-
yikes! My doc nearly had a fit when my bp was like that...then she went into overdrive to get it down.
Here's hoping that You get this fixed asap!
-
-leaves a hug for you-..
-
Get'er done!!! :-*
-
Hope your appointment goes well today and they manage to get it under control.
-
I hope they get it under control for you. High b/p is not a good thing.
-
ok, so, I'm trying to figure this out and understand it.
At the doc's office, they did 8 bp readings....5 with their machine, 1 with my machine, then the doc did one the old fashion way with me sitting, then one with me standing......
My blood pressure was absolutely text book perfectly NORMAL
So, why it was so high here at home? We don't know. but, I have to keep monitoring it, plus go for damn blood tests tomorrow (2 of them ..one in the morning and one late afternoon)
-
well that's good that it was normal!

Too much coffee and not enough sleep the day before.

egads Man .. don't take away My coffee!!!!!
-
-thinks Master Ubar might be right-
Mistress, as hard as it is to give up...sometimes coffee, no matter how yummy, it's just not worth it. a few years ago i had what i thought was a really good panic attack. turns out it was a very mild heart attack. one of the things i needed to give up was caffine. i thought i was slick and went from drinking ALOT of mt.dew a day to coffee. for a few years i was able to get away with this...untill i recently developed an ulcer. needless to say, now days i'm no longer having caffine on a regular basis, and now i've lost the ability to eat chocolate and spicey foods. so...while i know the right diet to keep your bp down in the normal range, well, it sucks...it is far better to be able to cut back and become healthy and still be able to enjoy the favorite things for treats instead of not being able to have them at all.

Does this mean no fudge for you at the gathering, lure? ~pouts a little~

I am so glad that your bp was back down to normal! And I hate Doctors and shit that fluctuates like that. When I was pregnant.. I drank a bunch of apple juice before an early morning appointment (so I could pee in their cup), they were really worried about my blood sugar that morning now (even though I told them I had drank a bunch of apple juice) and ended up spending four hours in the waiting room for gestational diabetes blood testing. Yay! Stupid. But I am so glad that it was normal when you went to the Doctors, just keep watching it!

Glad it went back down and do have to agree with everything familure said. I have changed a number of things and no longer need my b/p meds. I lost a few pounds, walk back and forth to work in all kinds of weather (1 mile each way), plus a couple of miles on the treadmill at work daily, walk the dog more, and excercise 20 - 30 daily. I only have 2 cups of 1/2 leaded coffee daily, eat healthier (very little red meat and if i use any salt it is sea salt), no fast food or fried food, and no soda. I got used to it and like the way I feel now.

So, now I'm feeling like a pin cushion. Had to go to the diagnostic lab, twice today, once early this morning, and then around 4pm for blood to be drawn. They are testing Cortisol...apparently, it is a test of hormones that have to do with stress or something like that, so if that is wonky, tis why my stress levels seem to go up and then down for what I think is little to no reason.
I found this about cortisol on Wikipedia: Additional effects
It increases blood pressure by increasing the sensitivity of the vasculature to epinephrine and norepinephrine. In the absence of cortisol, widespread vasodilation occurs.
So will see in a few weeks what the blood tests reveal.

what is a normal blood pressure and heart rate my blood pressure is 110/50 and heart rate is between 38 and 45
-
that would be low then, because I was told that around 140/80 is normal .. heart rates I'm not sure about
-
my normal bp when not in pain is... 106/65 when in pain 135/85
-
Currently in AHA (American Heart Association) teaches that a normal blood pressure is a range now instead of a specific number.. the range goes like this
Normal less than 120 and less than 80 (120/80). Slightly more isn't that bad, but they now say that High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) Stage 1 is 140 – 159 or 90 – 99. (140/90).
For the heart rate, they say the heart beats about 60 to 80 times a minute when we're at rest.
