Okay, family, it's time for another one of those "what's up with dee-mon's life" posts!
This morning, I interviewed for an English teaching position in my home town. If I "win," I'll be teaching either 8th graders in the Middle School or a 9th/10th or 9th/11th grade split at the High School. Honestly, I don't care where I am placed, so long as I am employed, though my true love is with the Literature than can only be taught to the older set. Even if I don't snag a permanent teaching gig, I am still guaranteed enough substituting assignments within the District to work full time -- but please cross your fingers for me. I'd like to be in a higher tax bracket with a classroom of my own!
Then there's the less cheery news. My grandfather will be admitted to the hospital for more heart work on Thursday. At this time, it's looking like another angioplasty and more stints, but we're not entirely certain. He had a seemingly steady supply of calcium deposits clogging his arteries, which is worse than the plaque that plagues most people. He also tends toward dangerously low blood pressure, rather than high.
As most of you know, my grandmother is an Alzheimer's patient, and she gets quite disoriented when my grandfather isn't around. Thursday through... whenever... is going to be hell. We're hoping my grandfather will be released on Saturday, but again... we're not sure. In any case, my grandmother will need constant attention, and someone will have to sleep downstairs with her.
I'm not sure when I'll be online, or how much, from this Thursday through... whenever my grandfather gets home...
Please keep my family and me in your thoughts and prayers, light a candle, cross your fingers -- whatever it is you do!

deelicious.. first and foremost, you and your family are in my prayers nightly, so just in case you get frazzled and forget, don't worry, you're covered *G*
and then here is a little something I thought to relate to you.. *hugs you up close*..
There is a sweet little man, probably in his 70's that comes into the store where I work almost daily.. I call him my boyfriend *G* and he is always good for a warm and well-loved hug.. His wife, an Alzheimer's patient, is in the local nursing home because she is very far gone.. and still, he goes to see her, every day, and eats with her, and sits with her.. and sometimes I think it hurts him too much, cause there are days that his hugs for me are a bit more for him than for me, if you know what I mean.. but anyway..
One day, one of the depressing days with her, one of the people in the store that know him, asked him how hard it must be for him.. knowing that even though he is there, she doesn't really even know who he is..
and do you know what he said?
He said.. Even if she doesn't know who I am anymore, I still know who she is and I can't love her any less or any more than I always have.
I think we all need love like that.. and I think your grandparents have that. And while your Grandmother is being difficult because your Grandfather isn't around, it's because of that kind of love... She might not always know where or who, but she knows that love..
*hugs*

It's the love that makes him take her in his arms and dance, sometimes, when she can't see the tears rolling down his cheeks because her head is on his shoulder... He holds her tight until she no longer stumbles and her feet remember what her mind does not... ~gets choked up~
I love you, woobie. Thank you.

I got the job, I got the job! ~happy dance~ And it's the High School position rather than the Middle School one!
Now I am only 5-10 minutes from work. No 55 minute commute! And I get my own classroom instead of having to "migrate" from room to room, too!
-
well done!!!
:-* ;)
-
ahhh now High School boys are going to be 'hot for teacher' hehehe ;D
-
YAAAAY!!! *huggles* Told ya you'd get it! That is so awesome! So when does school start??? If I know you, not soon enough to suit you... *laffs*
-
Yay!!!
Congrats hon, I know how happy this makes ya!

My orientation is Monday, August 28th. Then I get to decorate my classroom and prepare for the kiddies between August 29th and September 5th, when their happy, eager little faces will come streaming through the hallowed halls of learning. ~beaming~ Okay, they're going to be grumpy, and they're going to try to take advantage of my perky young face -- but I will crack my whip and smile big! ~evil teacher giggle~
I get my own room, I get my own room, I get my own room -- mwahahaa! I've been dreaming of what I could put on the walls! Comic strips and quotes from literature and music, and oh, all sorts of goodies!
But aside from the chance to remodel an entire room to my liking, I want summer vacation to last forever. LOL. I'm still mentally on the porch of Barnett's!
And Teggiebear, when 9th grade boys look at my boobs, it makes me all icky inside. I just wanted you to know that.
-
Congrats darlin *HUGGGGGGGGLES* and You's and Me start school basically the same day *LOL*

~big hugs to the *ancient* Taryn (As if. you don't have THAT much grey hair!) and my hooky-playing sister~
I'm actually having a good old time with Mom-Mom. We're playing "beauty shop." I've clipped her nails and done her hair. She's one happy grandmother. *beams*

Early Education teachers are a special breed. I'm much better with older kids -- the older, the better. Even Middle Schoolers are a strange, mysterious entity to me... *LOL*
I've just gotten word on my grandfather. He just came out of the Heart Cath lab. They sent a balloon into his heart and cleared two minor blockages. He didn't need further stints. At the moment, he is very groggy and being let sleep. He should be home by 1 p.m. tomorrow.
I'm holding up okay, I suppose.
Last evening, my friend, April, drove nearly an hour to come help me with my grandmother. We actually had a mini-party and invited my mother. Oven pizza and mini eggrolls, chips and salsa, strawberry daiquiris. (Obviously my six-year-old and my grandmother did not partake of the drinks. *G*) Mom got mellow and started giggling. April got flushed and silly. It was a blast.
So why, when I never got a buzz, am I hung over this morning? ~cries~
And despite the good food, the fun, the manicure and the hair-do, my grandmother still refused to go to bed until 3 a.m. She didn't believe it was as late as it was, and she refused to get in her pajamas. April eventually just dragged her to the bedroom, fully clothed, sat her down, yanked off her shoes, tipped her over, tucked her in, and said, "Good niiiiiight, Mom-Mom!" *LOL*
Six short hours later, and me with a crick in my neck from the recliner in which I slept, April has gone home, Mom-Mom is toddling around, kiddo is bored to tears, and my head is KILLING me... But I'm alive! I will make it!
Especially since I have April's borrowed laptop... I can sit at the kitchen table and see the whole house from here... I can keep an eye on EVERYTHING this way.
I need coffee... ~heads upstairs to drag the coffee machine down~
-
~hugs to my a-s~
Congrats on the job and i am keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers...
Love you....

Managed to get Mom-Mom showered and changed into clean clothes. That's actually a major accomplishment with an Alzheimer's patient... She ate a good dinner, and she feels better now that I've given her some Advil for her headache.
We've been watching CMT all day because she loves Country music. That's been driving me slightly batty. ~grinning~ Then one of my friends called and ... stopped herself mid-sentence to say, "Heather, is that Country music in the background?!"
"Yes, Ele."
"Are you okay?"
~giggling~
Anyway, Mom is going to stay with Mom-Mom tonight so that I can get more than 4 hours of sleep, and I don't think I can manage Camp tonight. I'm about to dieeeeee... As soon as she gets here, I'm going to go face-down...
Love you guys.... I so appreciate your thoughts, prayers, candles, advice, and humor... ~hugs~
-
*pipes up*

I told a few people -- and then forgot to post to the board... ~duh look~
Pop-Pop came home around 10 a.m. on Saturday. He was on restricted duty, doctors' orders, so I've been keeping a good eye on him, making sure he eats correctly and takes it easy. Mom-Mom has returned to her NORMAL state of disarray, and life has settled...
Thank you all for your support! ~hugs to my family~
-
Glad that He is home and your MomMom is doing better
