Orluman Kamala Reports

During the watch last night several of the larger bulls used for pulling frieght wagons seem to be experiencing problems.

They seem lethargic, and less than fit for use. Thus far only six have been noted, but this matter must be looked into immediately for cause and effect. These bulls were placed in a holding area within the main area to avoid driving them through the camp to the Plains should this be some sort of communicable issue. Accompanying the lethargic state seems to be heavy muscle rigors in the limbs and a distinct degree of loss of balance when moving.

Preliminary findings tend to rule out desease (would likely not happen on Gor anyway) that would threaten the entire herd, but all precautions will be taken.

Orman Ghinda Reports

Unscarred Training Unit returned from extended long range patrol suffering the effects of the heat and dehydration. The major water supplies along the usual migration route four days out are extremely low. Secondary water sources are reported to be depleted. Only a few of the larger underground springs are still supplying water and the smaller ones used by Patrols along their routes are dry.

Game in the drier areas is scarce and prarie sleen have been noted moving about more than usual scavaging and seeking food sources.

Ill Bosk,
the bosk were examined and cared for today. the bosk have ear mites, a severe case, the ones that are worst off stumbling and falling have them in one ear. ((got information from Mistress Shylina)) the lethargy is from dehydration an lack of nutrition spurred on by the infection of mites effecting their balance.

Oraluman Chamak Reports

During the daybreak watch work was begun to change out the wheels on a large freight wagon.  The platform was levered and braced and was deemed as being secure. The wheel was removed and without warning or advanced hint of problem, the brace gave way causing a shift in the wagon platform.

Damage is noted to the wagon platform itself as well as the wagon box. The wagon is no longer structurally sound as the platform has twisted. The axle has splintered and eight Men and several thralls were injured in the mishap. The thralls that were badly injured have been put down. Of the eight Men injured three are awaiting medical treatment. One for internal injuries, one for a shattered left femur, and one with what seems to be a fractured skull. This one lives but is unresponsive. The injured have been placed in the shade beneath the medical wagon until the Healers become available from other duties and cases to tend them.

The freight wagon is slated for disassembly and salvage of all useable parts. This need be tended to as soon as possible. Under these conditions, it is estimated it should take roughly three days to complete the task.

Oraluman Kiang Reports...

One Or of Outriders is overdue from their morning patrol. Another Or has been dispatched to investigate. The missing Or was last seen in the Northwest sector.

A returning Or reports a caravan making way for Turia to the west giving our immediate lands a wide birth. A raid of the caravan was considered but due to the size and escort the risk was deemed to great. Forty wagons total of freight, seven miscellaneous wagons, accompanied by one hundred heavily armed escorts as well as other miscellaneous merchants and persons were tallied. One slave wagon also noted and judged to be overloaded, but no count of cargo available.

Eastern patrol reports a small caravan moving South was permitted safe passage. It was coming from The Point and the caravan Master bore the passage brand and a tribute was payed of ten cases of fresh fruits which have been taken to the camp main commissary.

Southern patrol reports two Or of Kassar on a long range patrol. No personal contact was made and patrols passed without incident.

Northeast long range patrol has returned reporting a salt wagon disabled and abandoned 130 pasang out. A freight wagon and twenty thralls with two Or escort has been dispatched to lay claim and begin salvage operations of the abandoned fortune.

Healing Slave delilah Reports:

The man with the shattered left femur has had the bone set.  Exploratory surgery will be necessary to recovery any bone shards.  The bone may need to be stabilized with pins, depending on the extent and nature of the break.  The man with internal injuries is currently in surgery to determine the extent of his injuries.  The left side of his chest has a concavity in the rib area, and a punctured lung and spleen are suspected.  The man with the head injury is past help, and the Blue Sky Song was sung for him.  A lethal shot of Valerian will be administered to ease his passing.

Have begun oiling the kaiila's ears and they don't much like it. Training new mounts has slowed as a result of this new task.  Why is it the smallest critters cause the biggest problems

Oraluman Kiang Reports...

Missing Or from Northwest sector located. Two survivors discovered on foot following deadly skirmish with Kataii units. Both survivors badly wounded and placed beneath med wagon with only field dressings. Water given for dehydration and awaiting more advanced medical attention. Remains of the fallen recovered and released to their families care for final disposition. Patrols of this sector are now at double strength.

Northwest herd has been relocated due North.

Outrider returned to report the salt has been recovered and the party is on the return route. Patrols in that sector will be on the watch for them.

All females will not venture outside of camp beyond five pasang unless with an organised Unit of Warriors. Herds are being moved closer to the main camp for tending. Activity of caravans and other Camps are increasing.

All Men will patrol fully armed and considered to be under combat conditions.

All training Units are now fully activated and under command of their training Or Commanders.

Oraluman Chamak Reports

Oraluman Kiang killed in action to the North during an engagement with Raiders. Six others killed in same action. Bodies returned to families. Three wounded awaiting further medical treatment at med wagon. Wounded have been stabilised at present beneath wagon.

Kamala elevated to Oraluman.

Ghinda elevated to Orluman.

Casius, adopted Son of Amber elevated to Orman. Noted as distinguishing himself during the engagement.

Eldest Uncle of Tegutai noted for valor during the engagement. After being wounded (two arrows to the abdomen) he continued the fight holding the right flank, rallying a routed Or Unit to hold their ground. Elevated to the standing of ASKARI pending Ubar's approval. Recommended duty as a member of Amber's Guard upon recovery and release to active duty.

Recovered salt divided and ready for distribution to the inner circle of Wagons. Two pouches per wagon. Remaining salt after distribution is to be distributed to the Women having lost companions in recent action... the Aged of Tuchuk... then on a first come first serve basis, in this order.

Two camp kettle slaves suffered scalded feet after accident at commissary wagon involving cauldron of boiling water. Slaves await further medical treatment after initial first aid treatment.

Two aged prairie sleen were slain just beyond the footlights during the night. Suspected of seeking easy prey among the stock or of persons. Carcasses field dressed and awaiting further processing in the main area.

Unidentified young Son slain by a kailla after venturing too close. Inflicted wounds to head and upper body make positive identification difficult. No Mother or Father has reported a missing Son. Suspected Mother deceased and Father out on patrol or among recent casualties. Remains turned over to the Apprentice Healer on duty awaiting attention by a full Healer in hopes of identification or final disposition.

Chubah the Free Woman hamstrung one of her thralls for an attempted escape. Guards stood by during the process in case needed.

ASKARI Orluman Ganigas relieved of duty due to age and problems stemming from old wounds. Awarded four gold, a bosk bull, and retained his tawney duty mounts and equipment. Special accomodation and award of gold inlayed Tuchuk horns jerkin adornment for 150 years of active duty and service as an ASKARI. Added note of interest... his five surviving Sons also currently serve with distinction as ASKARI. Two other Sons gave their lives in the line of Duty as ASKARI. This is a highly HONORED Family of Tuchuk. Ganigas and his Companion Ho'elun will now devote their time to their Clan of Candle Makers and to their twenty three grandchildren.

Healing Slave delilah Reports:

The bodies Orluman Kiang and his six men were bathed and dressed in their finest in preparation for funeral rites.  Extreme heat conditions and sanitation concerns made necessary a speedy cremation.  A pyre was formed of a wagon at the outer circle which was too ancient to survive the upcoming migration, and scented oils were poured upon the dry timbers to speed their burning.

The body of the unclaimed Son was also prepared and given to the flames.  He remains unidentified and unclaimed at this time.

The pyre was monitored closely to prevent brush fire during these dry conditions.  All that remains are a few embers which are still watched by camp slaves.

the three wounded that were treated under the medical wagon were taken into the medical wagon to receive further care.

the first Outrider was treated for arrow wounds to his right shoulder, left knee and left abdominal side, none of the wounds needed to be taken care of surgically, he is now resting inside the medical wagon.

the second Outrider was taken care of by another healer (NPC), he received 13 sutures to his upper left arm, and his shoulder has been packed where a lucky arrow found it's way into his flesh and muscle, no major damage and he should be up and back on duty in the next hand at most.

the third Outrider was treated for an arrow wound to his right shoulderblade by myself, I cleaned out the wound and stitched it up. Then exhaustion took over and another healer took care of the rest of his wounds, which was a deep slice to his right upper thigh possibly by a quiva, then another arrow wound to his back left calf, those have been taken care of, the wounds were either stitched or packed.

All three will be down at least for the next hand, barring no complications.

Healer Kelsey's report:

Teg's Uncle took a turn for the worse.  Surgery was preformed and it was determined that one of the arrows had nicked his bowel.  Repair was done and he is recovering in the surgical wagon...He will be moved as soon as he is stable.

Medical supplies are beginning to run low....Valerian should only be used in the worst cases...we have plenty of lavenia tincture....willow bark is starting to run low as well...

One of the empty council wagons has been opened up as overflow from the med wagon....we are seeing many cases of dehydration and heat exhaustion/stroke in the very old and very young...the medical staff has been stretched to it's limits...several have been removed from duty and are now patients in the med wagon themselves

Last night, another patrol of Outriders came in with injuries. Four riders had arrow wounds, one serious. The worst case Kelsey took to surgery; the remaining three I treated in the shade of a nearby wagon. One was to the shoulder, fairly deep and just missed an artery; that one was treated first and the rider sent to the overflow wagon with assistance for 2-3 days of rest. The remaining two were both shallow strikes to extremities, and were cleaned and stitched up, the riders going unassisted to the overflow wagon for 24 hours of rest.
Numerous cases of dehydration and heat fatigue were treated by Myself, Kelsey, and the four slaves present, as well as by NPC healers. For the record the slaves present at the time were flame, chanz, sareem and ariella, all of whom were instrumental in treating so many dehydrated warriors.

From Healer Taryn:

Removed an arrow from the throat of one of the injuried Warriors, it entered the right side of his larnyx and came out to the right of his spine, with the help of Latisha, she and I got him stabilized, the arrow was removed carefully as to the location, an IV was started as his skin was wrinkled from the lack of water... he is now resting comfortably, and was being checked on every 4 ahns...

An ASKARI came into the med wagon nearly toppling me over when he stumbled into me, he had a barbed arrow that had been shot through his facial chains through the left side of the bridge of his nose and into his sinus cavity... both of his eyes were blackened and swollen shut... I didn't want to risk giving him any pain medication as the location of the barbed arrow wasn't fully known, he ended up unconscious after Boris gave him a nice right hook into the right side of his head after the ASKARI swung at me while I was trying to dig out the barbed arrow... the wound has been stitched, salved and bandaged... oh and I had orders to remove the straps holding him down after he regained consciousness...

Removed another barbed arrow from another ASKARI, this one was a bit more delicate to deal with as the arrow was in the space of the elbow mostly known as the "funny bone", I gave him a dose of valerian as the pain was extreme, started an IV and worked to remove the arrow, with careful work, I was able to remove the barbed arrow with minimal damage, stitched the inside of the wound with bosk gut, and then sutured the outside as well, then slathered it with agrimony salve, then bandaged it up, he was resting comfortably when I left him, leaving orders with one of the apprentice healers to have him taken to the second medical wagon...

The rest of the night I spent working on other injuried Outriders, Warriors and ASKARI...

Relayed to the Watch Commander of what was going on, I gave him an update of the injuried and that the ASKARI's that were being brought in were part of RAGNAR's patrol, but since I haven't been able to leave my work I couldn't assertain if he was among the injuried or not...

From Healer Kelsey

I spent most of the night with several other healers in the surgical wagon doing what I could to save the injured men.  Freda and I worked on a man with a wicked gash across his midsection....He remains in critical condition after receiving a blood transfusion during the night....

Several other men did not make it and were bathed and cleaned up as much as possible before being cliamed by their families...

I remain on duty in the Med Wagon
