This Week's Gossip
Last Sunday morning, after staying up half the night playing with two guys in a chat room, I didn't wake up until 9:30 AM. I rushed off my What's Happening gossip column barely in time to make the evening edition of the Times. Needless to say, our editor, Art Fisher, wasn't a happy man. I apologized profusely and promised it will never happen again. Insert little chuckle here, because I know he needs me.

I showered and rushed down to meet Rachel for brunch in the Palm Court, the delightful first floor restaurant in the Plaza Hotel.  She informed me that Samantha would take the role of Rosario in Tuesday night's play, her first time on the Creative Arts stage.

I attended as usual, sitting in the back row watching. Samantha was nervous, as all first timers are, but she pulled it off wonderfully and actually added adlibs late in the play. Rachel, Tim, Dami and Doni were hilarious as usual. Will was pretty funny in the audience as well.

During lunch on Thursday, Rachel told me that she had set up a meeting between Samantha and psychiatrist, Jennifer Melfi. Rach said that on Tuesday night after the play Samantha appeared to have blocked out the murder scene in her apartment where Mike Smith and Eric Shepard managed to kill each other. In fact, Sam couldn't even remember who they were. I'm sure Ms. Melfi will get her straightened out.

This weekend I learned that Ms. Melfi has indeed convinced Samantha about of what happened that night in her apartment. Mr. Farina has met with her and she'll be back singing this coming week at the Four Seasons Supper Club. If you haven't heard her sing yet, I suggest that you make a dinner reservation there and get on board. I understand that Diego is planning to sign Samantha to a one year contract. He's advised her to get a lawyer as her agent.

I spent Saturday night at Diego's mansion watching "The Holiday" with him on his big screen TV. Great movie if you haven't seen it. Cameron Diaz, our own Brooklyn Councilwoman, is cute as hell as Amanda Woods and Kate Winslet plays Iris Simpkins. They trade homes for a two week vacation and deal with two new men, Jude Law as Iris' brother Graham and Jack Black as a film composer named Miles. Eli Wallach does a fine job as Arthur Abbott, a craggy old retired movie  director.
