Title: First Night
Post by: Amber on February 26, 2008, 11:36:05 AM
If anyone ever tells you, that your newborn baby will not be awake for very long.  They are lying.  LYING!

I don't know what the hell happened, my perfect little human being became this monstrous awful torturous demon about 10 pm last night and didn't stop until almost 9 this morning.

He slept between feedings and diaper changes at the hospital while I didn't have him...AND while I had him.  I get him home, and he is up for 8 hours straight wanting to be held.  I can honestly say, that Beau and I are very very very very very very very very tired.

We tried everything to get him to sleep!  We changed everything that was current to try and help him sleep.  We changed where he was trying to sleep, didn't work.  We changed diapers, didn't work.  We tried feeding him, didn't work.  We changed pacifiers, didn't work.  We changed almost everything, except the house we lived in..and still..he was wailing every time we put him down.  Finally...at 5 am...we reached our breaking point, and Beau took first shift of staying awake, while I slept for two hours.  I have had 2 hours of sleep in almost 24 hours, and now that the baby is asleep... I am wide awake!

Mommyhood isn't fair. -sighs- But I still wouldn't trade the perfect little human being who is sleeping ever so peacefully while Mommy stares hopelessly, and blankly at a wall for an hour.  Hopefully, tonight will not be the same.  Hopefully, we can keep him awake for a better part of the day today in order to make him sleep tonight.

Oh..and as promised.  A few pictures.

I used to drive my daighter back in forth in the driveway.  She would also fall asleep if I put her in a swing.

car, swing, yep yep yep...have someone else hold him because you get tense over the situation and he can sense it...(i know you already know this but sometimes sleep deprevation makes ya forget the obvious)...um, just lots of skin contact worked for me, unwrap from waist up and cuddle together with blanket etc...(maybe too easy/i was lucky)........the pictures are gorgeous i mean handsome!...~smiles

(laughs as Mistress Kelsey writes, while i am, basically the same thing)

ok..... his days and nights are flipped.. most newborns do this... they decide to sleep all day....and then be awake all night. it will change..... i know you can't take that drive right now because lets face it.. you are not allowed to drive for 2 weeks following a c section... might try the swing..... other than that... sleep when he sleeps.. or even just lay down and watch tv or something while he is sleeping. please allow your body time to rest.  one other little thing that might help... and i know they most likley don't do this now... but even laying him on his back... roll up a towel and put it under the crib mattress so there is just a slight incline.... it may help.

I heard that if you put the baby in the carseat on top of the washer and let it run that sometimes that works...

Old wind up alarm clock and allow him to hear it ticking.... or...

Play a taped Notre Dame or Steelers football game and let him listen to it. If he doesn't wish to sleep... might as well begin his training.

Have Beau drive him around while you get some rest... because yes, that will usually work everytime... ~goes off to find something that might help as well~

ummm Rags, hubby pointed out saying that everytime Julian is needed to go to sleep and they play the taped football games, won't that train him to sleep whenever a football game is on?

don't shoot me, I am just the messenger...

Driving is good advice, unfortunately I can't drive just yet, the Drs. are afraid if I get into a car accident I might kill myself -lol-  And unfortunately, I don't have a washer or a dryer at my convenience -lol- Last night.. I don't know what happened...someone gave me a loritab and ordered myself to bed.. I do know that Beau didn't get into bed until 4 and that's pretty much when I got up because he was squeaking every two seconds and that woke me up every time.  I feel much better after 6 hours of sleep, but I am still tired and now I have a rather persistent headache.  Oh well.  We have our first little checkup at the Maternity ward today..they're just gonna check him over, check his weight and stuff..and make sure I'm not going to die because of pulling internal stitches or some other silly thing.  That's at 10 am, so when I get a chance, I'll let everyone know how it goes. -s-

Studies show the subconscious mind actually retains more than conscious efforts to retain information.

Yea I know, but like I said, no killing or shooting the messenger, and well when he said it he was laughing, so I think he knew deep down what you were trying to get across, but you know hubby, he had to put in his two cents... ~winks~

The Squeak... or..new nickname...Hedgehog... Has lost an ounce.  He weighed in at a whopping 6 lbs and 9 1/2 oz.  Which she said is normal because he could have lost more and is now starting to gain it back.  It sure seems like it because right now he's eating just about every 2 hours or so.  His heart sounded fine, his temperature was fine, and we were told we can stop putting non sticking bandages on his circumcision, which was looking beautiful as well.  As for me.  Incision looks terrific, and everything else is going just dandy.  So there is my nice healthy update.  We have our first real Drs. appt on Monday, and she'll be even more thorough, but for now...we are doing terrific!

Title: Night Three
Post by: Amber on February 28, 2008, 12:15:24 PM
Since I had nothing to report with night two due to a loritab and a very very patient husband and flutterbye who watched the kid while I passed the hell out, here is how night 3 went.  Before our adorable flutterbye left, I slept most of yesterday away, and therefore, since Daddy had a 5 am to 1pm shift today, I stayed up all night.  He slept between feedings for the most part, hated to be changed and cried like a mother when I was trying to do said changings.  It wasn't as bad as the first night, because I was prepared to stay up all night.  He finally fell into a deeper sleep about 5 am, and allowed me to sleep until about 9 when he started to get hungry.  And then like clockwork, every two hours until about an hour ago when I decided I was going to just stay up until Daddy got home from running errands, when I can take a nap with him watching Hedge for a bit.

And to clarify, the reason for another new nickname for this kid.  He does NOT like keeping his feet or his legs in a straighter position, especially when wearing footie pajama like sleepers.  He curls his legs up to his chest and pretty much stays like that.  Like a little Hedgehog -beams-  He's so adorable.  I'm glad I get to keep him forever and ever.  At least for now, I know when he's a yucky teenage boy I'll want to give up, but for now, he's my Little Man.  I'm in love!

*sends loads of huggles for the proud mommy and daddy and the lil man*

you know I had a discussion with my b/f today about kids...... I told him that when a woman marries a man and tells him that she will never love another man as much as him that shes lying...... He thought that I was implying that women cant keep their pants on...... I had to explain that once a woman has a son she falls in love like no other....... and daddy is second place.......

I can honestly say that you can fall in love more than once..... I did it the day Frog Boy was born.....even though I didn't get to hold him for a month because He was a premie and in really bad shape....... and then I did it again when possum was born..... and Then I got lucky because the other half of my soul showed itself to me and then gave me an ultimatum.... that being I'm either moving there to you... or your moving to me.... pick one...... needless to say....I have the three loves of my life... and two more ( his sons)  that I really want to love more but just can't quite get there yet.  You count the blessings of your life as you would those first fingers and toes.... you count every single I love you and remember them because they are just far more precious than any gold or gem on the planet.
