Good evening, Bridget Martin, Channel 2 CBS News reporter
April 29, 2008
This morning I attended an NYPD press release. It seems that Tiffany's the most well know, most expensive, and most well protected jewelry store in New York City, was robbed late Monday night.
Lt. Joe Friday stated that the thief some how shut down the complicated security system, apparently waltzed around hand picking out the more expensive jewelry wearing latex gloves. No fingerprints were found, of course. Tiffany's manager estimates the loss in the neighborhood of two million dollars. Final numbers will be completed by tomorrow. They are insured, of course, but he says that several of the items are just not replaceable.
The surveillance camera only got a glimpse of a slender figure, dressed solely in black and wearing a mask, before they were blocked with a red wax.
Every effort will be made to catch this clever thief and return the valuable jewelry.
And now the weather.

We've been running through all the known jewelry thieves in the New York City area with no success. They either were not in the area or have solid alibis. It seems we are chasing a ghost, or at least somebody totally new.
We've started a country wide search for somebody this talented. So far each name offered from New York to California has also been elsewhere on April 28th.
It looks like this robbery will be put in the cold case files, unless something pops up.
