This Week's Gossip
Last Saturday night Barbara Barton took Mitch Saylor home with her from the Four Seasons Supper Club just before I left with Anne Heche. Anne spent the night at my place and we were both giggling at the possibilities there. Since Anne's a lover, not a runner, I called Rachel and advised her that I wouldn't be joining her at Central Park for our typical morning run. I'd enjoyed my exercise in other ways.

Anne and I did meet Rachel and Mary McGrath at the Palm Court for brunch where the major subject was Mitch and Barbara. Would she be joining the long list of Mitch's conquests? The answer was a resounding yes.

The Fancy Vivid Blue. This 6.04 carat flawless blue diamond sold last month at Sotheby’s auction house in Hong Kong and arrived in New York City this week. It will be shown for a month at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where Charlotte York, the museum's director, has negotiated the showing with the secret billionaire owner. The ring's estimated current value is over eight million dollars and it's insured by Lloyd's of London through New York City Life.

On Saturday night I attended the Hilary Hawn and Josh Ritter show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with Diego. He actually wore a tux for the event so I wore a silk dress. There was a nice crowd on hand including Angela Black with her date Thomas Quinn, the wealthy owner of Quinn Investments.

I had to smile when I saw Barbara Barton arrive alone wearing a brand new Dior designed black and white dress the clung to her body like silk. She kept pacing at the entrance until her date arrived, Mitch Saylor. That tells me that Barb is really enjoying Mitch's unique talents. They left as soon as the show was over, obviously hurrying off for more of what Mister Pussy offers.

In a reverse spin, Yvette was there with Jason Todd Brody, her so called Pilot Boy. Richard Sawyer, Yvette's new business agent showed up alone and spent the evening alternately wooing Yvette and that lingerie buyer, Vicki Jenkins.

Jason was extremely upset over Richard and his constant attempts to chat up Yvette. Jason even accused her of toying with Richard's affections, which irritated Yvette enough that she rushed out of the museum crying. Poor Jason, he had to go begging her to understand why he was upset and concerned for her ability to deal with Richard's desire to get her alone somewhere. I had to laugh at Elspeth Wise's side comments during the awkward situation. I had to wonder if Richard's huge ego was crushed when Vicki turned him down for a post show party at his place.

After the show was over, Charlotte York, the museum's director, took everybody up to the second floor to see her new prize, the Fancy Vivid Blue diamond ring. It looks so big it could make a woman wearing it walk with a limp! Diego simply rolled his eyes when I said he needn't but it for me. Charlotte was bragging about the increased security surrounding the ring in a glass box.

Diego took me home and poured us drinks while I finished up my column and faxed it in.
