This Week's Gossip
Last Sunday morning I awoke with a nice smile on my face. My internet chat room came through for me again late Saturday night. Who needs real time men to have a little fun?
Since Diego didn't want us walking alone in Central Park while that serial killer is on the loose, I went over to the Carnegie Hill Spa where Rachel and I worked out on the Nautilus equipment then each had a nice massage. She got Jason this week while Eoin got me. I think I worded that correctly, if you catch my drift.
This past week was quite busy, what with the Vicki Jenkins trial being held on Monday and Wednesday nights. On Monday evening it was Charlotte York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art director, on the witness stand. Nelle Porter, our New York City District Attorney, worked with her for more than an hour, hammering out the events of Saturday May 31st, the night the Fancy Vivid Blue was stolen.
I was really surprised to see that new photographer, Mac Keegan, as a juror on this high profile case. Then it was the Dapper Dan of the New York City defense attorney world, Alan Shore's turn to grill Charlotte. He concentrated deftly on the fact that nobody actually saw Vicki take the diamond, and tried to infer it might have been taken at a different time than the specific few minutes while Vicki was there as Charlotte insisted.
I was bored by all the technical stuff about the diamond inspector that Charlotte uses, a Mr. Carson. I was more interested in the side banter between Yvette and her Pilot Boy friend Jason. They are lovers, it's clear, but they sure do squabble a lot over her new agent, Richard Sawyer.
On Wednesday night it was Lt. Joe Friday on the stand, followed by none other than Richard Sawyer himself. Richard's testimony regarding his apparent potential sexual affair with Vicki the night she was arrested had Yvette sitting up on the edge of her chair. Doesn't Yvette know yet what a skirt chaser Sawyer is, and that he's anxious to get in her pants?
Judge Gamble sent the jury off to deliberate on Wednesday night, but an hour later came back out to say they hadn't reached a decision and sent them off to a hotel for the night. It was Saturday evening before the jury finally reached a verdict and the foreman read the verdict, guilty. Hell. I knew that on Monday night. What took the jury so damn long?
Judge Gamble surprised everybody by only making Vicki spend thirty days in a soft, high profile woman's prison instead of the minimum two years. Vicki will be on house arrest when she gets out, wearing a special electronic ankle bracelet any time she leaves her home for work until her two years are up. The notoriety of the trial alone will help Vicki sell her lingerie designs.
I headed for the Four Seasons bar after the trial was over and who should appear, on what can only be referred to as a dinner date, but Alan Shore and Nelle Porter. My guess is Alan lost a wager on the trial results since I saw him pick up the check.
Following them in was Yvette with Jason Todd Brody in tow. I had watched Yvette, and then Jason, arguing with Richard Sawyer right after the trial. I gather Miss Frenchie finally realized what a cad Sawyer is.
Entertainment
This Tuesday night, June 24th at 10:00 pm ET, the Off-Broadway Creative Arts Theatre will be offering Rachel Tatellio's version of Sex and the City - The Awful Truth. I'll be there in case she needs me to cover a role.
