My Ubar.

it pains me to bring you this news.  But as much as it pains me I feel I have to.  Its time.  He needs to be returned to the plains amongst His herd for his last days.  I don't want his final ahns and ehns to be in a pen.   I ask you with all the herders knowledge I have to grant me the order to return Berat to the herd.

the note is left in the pouch at the Ubars porch.  the hand of a herder reaches up and wipes the tears from her face and puts a hand back on the pouch as I would wait for only a hand or so before doing what I knew had to be done.

-had noted the note being left for Ubar. Turns her gaze to the ground and walks away, slowly-

*Having spent much time pondering, and spending time with my ancient friend remembering from the day he was birthed, I wish to be selfish and keep him close. But this would not be the right thing to do.*

"See my friend is bathed and rubbed dry. Brush him until his coat shines as the sun upon the plains. See his great horns are polished until they deeply reflect the faces of those gazing upon them. Hang upon him his shining bells and trinkets so all will know he is Ubar among the bosk and their gentle tones may please him. Assign an Or to guard him day and night. He may do as he wishes and engage in combat as he wishes... even against predators, and may he find the strength and the will to stand or fall of his own measure. However... when he does fall, he will not be consumed by any man nor beast. This the Or will swear to under penalty of impalement. It is my wish he be burned as befitting a Ubar... where he fell... so he may continue on in the grasses of our plains and upon the winds of Endless Sky. These are my wishes, and now are law."
