Adagio for strings...
« on: March 19, 2019, 12:57:13 AM »
...One of the MOST beautiful works...IMHO... :'(  We have all heard it as part of a movie score, with a full orchestra...but it is the 2nd movement of a string quartet.   :)  I have played it many times...and I really don't know what it is about.  At times...I imagine a couple meeting...talking...and then going to a room...and...well... ::)  Other times...I imagine people gathered...talking about a tragedy...and not knowing how to remedy it.

Here it is...as Borodin wrote it...

...I need to make a correction...Samuel Barber wrote the work.  (It is late at night...and I need to get to bed.)   ::)  But, let me add this... :)...playing in a string quartet is very powerful...there are just FOUR of you...and you are all just holding pieces of lumber...( ::)  (I hold the biggest one...and it is between my legs...it is my cello, "Pavane"... ::))...and you JUST MAKE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!  We could fill a church, or a concert hall, when we played full out...and we could get an audience to lean forward and listen when we got quiet...and introspective.

Life can be good... :)
