...Izee' takes Johanna...Johanna brings her babe...along with Katniss, S'lene and Aslaug...Tiveri was VERY UPSET over not being included...and Izee' had given Tiveri some special candies, and told her, her youngest daughter, that she could come along next year. Izee' had also invited Isolt, Tristans' Companion. The six had ridden out on their kaiilas, lightly packed, but with their bows and spears, in case they got a chance to hunt. They had stopped outside of the wagons, but well inside a safe area that was patrolled by the outriders. The Captain of the outriders had seen them stop, and had sent for Tristan, and when Tristan arrived, the Captain of the outriders had asked Tristan just what the Hel his Mother, his Companion, and his sisters were doing. Tristan had smiled, and said, "Mother is doing a Red Savage thing, all of her Children are half Red Savage, and Mother likes to remind us of it once in a while, although she does tell us that we are now Tuchuk. I guess that she didn't want Isolt to feel left out. Don't worry, they will be calm. She will tell tales, and Johanna will also tell some, since Johanna is now a Mother. They will eat a little, and drink a tea made of herbs, and sing songs that Isolt won't understand, since they will sing in Yellow Knives. They will stay up all night, and eat a larger breakfast, and then go back to Camp."
The Captain had dismissed Tristan back to his unit, and had looked over at the six...they had hobbled their kaiila, and were preparing a small fire. The Captain had muttered..."Women"...and had called his Second to him. He told the Second to rotate single outriders to watch over the females during the night, until Izee' guided everyone back in the morning. The Second had also muttered..."Women"...and had added a few more words under his breath.
The Captain had paused, though, when he heard Izee' and her daughters start to sing...and had stayed to hear the full song...although he didn't understand a word. As he rode away after they finished...he...again...muttered..."Women"...but in a different tone of voice.
