This Week's Gossip
On Sunday morning, Diego picked us up in front of the Plaza hotel in his limo and Furio drove us out to the Meadowlands where Diego has a nice luxury suite. The surprise was Delinda Deline happening to show up and join Rachel and me in Diego's limo and then the suite. Diego kept feeding us champagne.
Sawyer Holloway, the new Queens councilman, showed up just as the Giants game with the Panthers started. Diego kept swearing as the Panthers took the early lead. I tried to keep Diego calmed down while Rachel, Delinda and Sawyer enjoyed the buffet at the suite mini-bar.
Things just got worse as the Giants lost to the Panthers, 23-0. Their playoff chances gone for 2005. Delinda and Sawyer really seemed more interested in each other than in the game and they left together. Rachel and I were very quiet in the back seat of the limo. We had them drop us off at the Plaza where we ate dinner together in the Palm Court.
I was disappointed on Wednesday night when Rachel had to abandon her play and reschedule it for the following week. The weather was pretty bad and five of her actors and actresses couldn't make their way to the theater.
Although Diego is sure that Genovese Construction Inc. will still be handling the proposed New York Giants' stadium in the Meadowlands, he says there are some delays due to debates over the planned retractable roof that Mayor Michael Bloomberg is insisting on so the stadium can be used in bad weather and get New York City a future Super Bowl.
It's been nice to see Ben Bravio with Cameron Diaz again these days. They make an attractive couple and I expect to see a lot more of them together. I also saw Xavier Castellano this past week. She's due to deliver her baby in about six weeks and she sure looks ready.
Saturday night I went to the Four Seasons Club alone since Rachel was out on a date with Mike Miller. Normally I share her Kendall Jackson chardonnay with her, but in her absence I ordered an Orgasm from Gino. That led to a few jokes between us. I already had my money on the bar when who should walk in but Bruce Wilonski, that petroleum engineer. He told Gino to ignore my money and ordered an expensive scotch for himself.
The restaurant was almost empty and the piano player started a set of romantic music. I couldn't resist and asked Bruce if he was a dancer. We wound up out there on the floor alone. This amazing guy can really dance. A few whispers on the dance floor led to us finishing our drinks and taking a taxi back to my penthouse suite in the Plaza Hotel. It was my place, so I was in charge, but I think he enjoyed the evening.
Entertainment
This Wednesday night, January 18th at 10:00 pm ET, the Off-Broadway Creative Arts Theatre will be offering Rachel Tatellio's version of Friends - Joey Moves Out. It should be fun and I will be sitting in my center seat in the back row watching to see who might show up and who sits with whom, unless Rachel once again needs me in the cast.
