Blanche Barrow Cold Case Reopened

May 10, 2006

I've spent the last week fitting in some time to work on that five year old murder case. Blanche Barrow was found in a 25th floor Carnegie Hill penthouse apartment where she was murdered. The killer had apparently tied her wrists to the bed posts, viciously raped her then slit her throat.

Rachel Tatellio found her body upon returning from a month long trip to Paris. Rachel had sub-rented Blanche the apartment for a month while Blanche looked for a home she could use as the base of her high class call girl operations.

We're pretty sure that Blanche had cut a deal with Michael Corlene to provide financial support until she got started. Corleone was shot and killed shortly thereafter, but Dara and I could never link the murders together.

I believed that Blanche was hiring some of the better prostitutes in the Manhattan area and was murdered in retaliation. Since we never found any family to notify, Blanche was buried in one of those Potters Fields were we bury the poor souls that are never claimed in the morgue.

It was Rachel that called me and informed me that a Chloe Barrow had knocked on her door claiming that she was Blanche's long lost daughter. Chloe just graduated from college in Oklahoma and a friend there told her that her mother had been supposedly murdered in New York City five years ago. Chloe had an old newspaper clipping with Blanche Barrow's photograph.

I agreed to meet with Chloe and after repeatedly warning her that it might be dangerous to probe into what might have been a Mafia related murder, I agreed to at least reopen that case and do a little research into the matter.

Chloe showed up in the 5th Precinct station this week with a name, Tiki Boyd. She'd bumped into Barbara Swan at Mahoney6's Irish Pub and managed to get Swan to admit that she'd been hired off the streets by Blanche Barrow as a high class call girl. Tiki Boyd was her previous pimp and was enraged when he heard Barb had quit him to go to work for Blanche. She told Chloe that she wouldn't be surprised if Boyd had raped and murdered Blanche.

We finally had a reasonable lead, but I knew that Tiki Boyd had been placed in the Federal Witness Protection Program after helping the F. B. I. convict Andre Polario, a major NYC area drug dealer.

I contacted Lisa Cohen, the NYC  F. B. I. Director and she tried to reach Tiki Boyd. Turns out Boyd had flown the coop, failing to report monthly as required. They're trying to locate Boyd right now. There are rumors that he might be headed back to NYC so I warned Chloe to be careful. Id his DNA matches the DNA taken from the semen found in Blanche's body, he might go after Chloe.

I'm waiting for Jeff Mallard to confirm the DNA match.
