This Week's Gossip
Last Sunday morning began with me taking June Ivers downtown, finding a few stores open, and purchasing some decent clothing. I met with Rachel and Tammi for brunch and introduced June. Tammi agreed to get her started as a Carnegie Hill Spa towel girl and give her a room on the 4th floor.
Everything seemed just fine, but for some reason June never showed up for work on Monday. She disappeared wearing the clothing I bought for her. I guess the no drug pressure was more than she could face. I do hope she survives, wherever she may be.
On Tuesday I had to step in and play Karen in Rachel's Will & Grace play. We had a fun evening with Tim playing Will, Rachel playing Grace, Doni as Jack and Kate as our narrator. Rachel is in the process of locating a few more players to fill in some of the gaps.
I spent Wednesday eating lunch with Ana Demetrius, the Long Island councilwoman that helped Genovese Construction Inc. win the bidding for the new City Hall out on the Island. I asked her what the deal was between her and Staten Island councilman, David Dewher. She said that they had dated a few times and seemed to click really well, but it was still in the "getting to know each other" phases.
Ana was excited about the Bio-fuel energy projects that David had proposed to Genovese Enterprises CEO, Diego Farina, during the monthly Genovese board meetings. Diego has given David one million dollars to invest in what he believes have the best chances of success. Anything that can reduce the United States dependence on foreign oil is a good thing in my book.
Other than a jewelry store robbery at Tiffany's, things have been pretty quiet in Big Apple. I hear that Denny Mahoney and Barbara Swan have managed to resolve the problems that Samantha Emeris was having with that Shane King fellow. It turns out I was wrong saying he was her ex-husband. Shane was just claiming he was her husband so he could drag her and their son Devin away. From what I could get out of Barb, Shane had taken advantage of Samantha at a drunken high school party and knocked her up seven years ago. Denny said that he doubted if Shane would ever return to pester Samantha again.
I spent Saturday evening at Diego's mansion watching a hilarious movie called Cars on his huge plasma TV. Lot's of major movie and TV stars provided the voices for the various automobiles in this clever movie. The closest it came to sex was when Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) wanted to fill Sally Carrera's Porsche (Bonnie Hunt) with gas.
Doc Hudson (Paul Newman) played an old race car driver as a Hudson Hornet. It was Larry the Cable guy's voice as Matre, the tow truck. Cheech Marin as Ramone, Tony Shalhoub and Luigi played the guys that owned the tire company and put white walls on McQueens race car. George Carlin, John Ratzenberger and Michael Keaton also had humorous roles. I highly recommend this Walt Disney production which is not just for kids.
