I know I've been gone
« on: February 24, 2008, 01:59:46 PM »
... things just got really crazy busy here. Cats and dogs for vet appt's, me and hubby for eye appts, kiddo trying to destroy our house to the best of her ability... you name it... yeesh.

We now have to keep office chairs in the middle of the office, or else kidlet pulls our chairs out from under the desk just enough to climb into it and then onto our desks. We also have to do the same thing with dining chairs and the table. She figured out how to circumvent the gate we had set up so she couldn't go climbing the stairs without supervision... it's not the climbing that worries me, it's the going down part, since our stairs are really narrow and steep. Fortunately, after 3 days of wracking my brain, we came up with a solution and she is now stairs proofed again.

Roy goes back to work, probably on tuesday, so, those that know me, you can guess what my mood has been like. We've been trying to get laundry done for him, get the shows that he NEEDS to see before he goes back watched, and trying to spend some time together.. when we're not scraping off our driveway.

Which is the other reason I haven't been on.. and really, the main one. Our weather has been nuts. one day warm, the next day 3 inches of snow and freezing rain. And when we get weather like this, I get major migraines. By the time kidlet goes to bed my head is generally pounding so hard that I can barely even type, and that's with Aleve in my system. I've even gotten to the point that I bought a tube of "Head On" in hopes that it would help... it does... some.... and I think for NORMAL headaches it'll be fine... just unfortunate that I've been having these migraine types. This has easily been the worst winter for migraines that I've had in years. Gotta love inner ear imbalances. *sighs*

Love you all, and as soon as my head stops being a pain, I'll be back. I promise! Just have a chat with the weatherman for me eh?  :'(

OK, update. Hubby didn't leave on tuesday as planned. We left the house as planned, enroute to the airport... and on the way we got a phone call from the company saying to go back home. The flight that THEY scheduled, was going to land in Florida about 3 hours AFTER the ship was going to be leaving port. Needless to say, that wasn't really going to work. So, he got to stay home till sunday, which was great for us, but it meant that I wasn't online cuz I was with him. So, I got him to the airport EARLY sunday morning, spaced out from lack of sleep for the rest of the day, and crashed early.

Since then I've been going thru typical post "put hubby on airplane" symptoms, which, as most of you know, means I've been depressed, grouchy, and not very good to be around. Kidlet has also been missing her daddy and has been very clingy, requiring soo many stories that I finally went and bought some new board books cuz I was sick of reading the other ones. All in all, my temperament has not been the best, and unless we want MASS npc deaths, it's probly better if I'm not around right now.

And now, joy of joys, we get to be snowed in. Between today and tomorrow we are expecting, CONSERVATIVELY, 8 inches of snow... and more likely at least a foot. At least the freezing rain is staying to the south so that it's JUST snow here.

I did find out about this in time, and yesterday we did the emergency grocery run for milk etc. so we're good to go... and while I was there I bought some Lindt chocolates, which hopefully will help improve my mood, so that HOPEFULLY I'll be able to come back into Camp and not want to take my stick to NPC's... *eg*

Anyway, that's what's been going on here. Just a thrill a minute.

Official totals are in, and we received a dumping of 12.5 inches of snow. My front yard showed 11 inches, but there was also hellacious winds going on, so apparently an inch got blown away. In fact, we were under a blizzard warning from friday evening on. First blizzard warning since, I believe they said, 1978... when there was this really bad blizzard that dropped 7 inches of snow, but had way worse winds than what we had. So, that one is still considered worse. *chuckles* That's fine.. what we had was bad enough.

Fortunately by late saturday afternoon the storm had passed and my neighbour very kindly used his snowblower and got most of my driveway's accumulation cleared out so that if I HAVE to get out, I can. Not that I'm planning on, since the lows are dipping waaaay down (last night it went down to 6), and freezing the roads and making everything icy. We were under a level 3 snow emergency, which means ONLY emergency vehicles were allowed on the road... at noon today, we were still under a level 2, and I don't know if that has been raised up since then or not. Level 2 is, if you absolutely must go out, please use extreme caution... basically, they dont' want you to go out and drive, but if you do, you won't run the risk of a ticket like you do at a level 3. I'm quite happy to stay holed up at home, going no where for a few days. If the wind ever dies down I'm going to take kidlet out to play in the snow.

So anyway, just wanted y'all to know that we survived the storm and we're still kicking. At the moment, kidlet's asleep, and I'm enjoying a homeade mocha made on our espresso machine... mmmm... schokinag drinking chocolate... y'all really must look into it. You'll never go back to hot chocolate powder again.

Keep that damnable snow away from us... ~glances to Rags and laughs~ Yes, this is coming from the one who couldn't wait for it to snow inches upon inches... Most of the time I like snow, but when hubby has to work in it, then I am so against it... besides we already got a three day weekend a few weeks ago... Just glad we were in the house, not the motel at the time... ~smirks~

I hope things get back to normal for you Sis... I should know, being house bound will drive a person nuts... look at me... ~waggles my brows~
