Home again

*Curling up on my couch, with a cup of coffee, sighing contently.* It's so good to be home again. Hopefully this has been my last trip to Erin. There is nothing there anymore to take me back. With Ma,Da, Hamish and Sean gone now. I guess you could say I'm alone. Except for Dec and his connection to me was servered when Catherine was killed, so many years ago. But I know he still watches over me. Some habits are very hard to break.

I got back just before the St. Patrick's Day weekend. Denny had held my job for me. He is a sweetheart that's for sure. I worked over the holiday. It was fun to get back to work and in the swing of things. The holiday brings out the Irish in everyone. The pub was jumping every night. I don't think I got a break from time I went into work till I left. Met a lot of new people. All of them friendly which made the nights go faster.

I had last Thursday night off. I went to Queens to hang with some of the boys at one of the pool halls. *L* They still think they can beat me. I left them every once in awhile. When I was getting ready to leave. I did a double take as Cody Boyd came walking in. I hadn't seen him in a few years and the last time was in Detroit. His brother had gone to prison a year ago for life for murder. Tiki was sloppy and a hit went bad on him.  Didn't take the police long to find him and pin it on him. Cody on the other hand is a class act. He was smart enough to get a cover job that can account for the kind of money he makes.

I didn't get long to talk to him as my ride was heading out. But I talked to him long enough to make a date for dinner for sunday night. I'd asked him why he was in town. It's not his usual stomping ground. He said he'd explain more but he was in town for business but something screwy had happened. I couldn't get anymore out of him. He said he would explain it all at dinner.

I worked my regular schedule on Saturday night. Most of the night it was the regulars and those coming down to the pub after the theater. One very interesting side note. A woman who introduced herself as Barb came in and sat at the bar. A little bit after she arrived Lindsay came in as well. They started talking.  Seems Barb usual haunt is the Four Seasons uptown. It wasn't really hard to tell. She was dressed the nines. I got Lindsay a pitcher and a glass of Killen's Red. I told her I had some news for her. Couldn't fill her in on much at the moment. But I did let her know that Cody Boyd was in town. That I knew he was in the same business his brother had been in. Also that I was going to have dinner with him. Barb was listening to the conversation. To say it shook her, is putting it mildly. Especially when I said I was wondering if Cody was in town because of Bradley Barton's murder. As he said he had a hit in the city but it went screwy. By this time Barb was ready to lose it. Lindsay calmed her down. She gave me a message to give to Cody. I'm to tell him that she is PISSED. This confused me. Well that is till I got her to tell me her last name. *L* imagine the reaction I hid when I found out she is Bradley Barton's widow.

Things in my head were really starting to connect. I tried calling Cody when I got home but got no answer. But left him a message. Still waiting to hear back.

*Chuckling softly* This is going to be one very interesting date.
