What a night...
« on: May 12, 2008, 01:15:48 PM »
As some of you know, there was a raging wind and rain storm going on outside the house we live in... Well around midnight, the dial up connection we use disconnected, it took us a bit to get it back up and going, blaming the weather for it, but just as I went to reload the room, the entire house went dark... From what we have been told, a tree went down, taking out the electricity from our place to about a mile and a half up the road... It was out until around 10am... The only drawback was, no electricity meant we had no water, toilet or anything to do with the water, or flushing said toilet... see everything out here is pumped up by an electric pump, and the septic tank is also run by electricity... ~RME~ so we spent the night with candles burning, reading by candle light and passing out to sleep, bundled under lots of blankets, hoping none of the trees around us went down and tried to take out either the house or our truck...

Woke up this morning or afternoon, looked outside and it looks like a war zone... the siding on the house is laying scattered around the area, they didn't install it correctly, and there are trees down all around us, and limbs from bigger trees scattered about... Nothing hit the house, or the truck, and the winds are finally dying down... I will be in tonight though, ready to face whatever is waiting for us tonight to hit camp.. ~winks~

Someone doesn't want us to have any fun it seems... this time it was our phone line, the secondary box, there seemed to be a problem with the junction block, so the technician came out and put a waterproof junction block, he doesn't think it was the massive amounts of rain that we had during the past two to three days, because it would have shorted out or created too much line noise... but whatever the problem was, it has now been fixed... So I will be in camp tonight...

Add yet another thing to the list... Early this morning, my computer decided it had enough it seems, first the game I was playing locked up, I thought okay, it hit a bad code or something my system didn't like, so it wants me to reset it... I hit the manual reset button, just as it's about to check for drives it shuts off... I flip the switch off, looking and feeling for anything overheated or any smoke, as my computer has literally caught fire three times before, but this time nothing, no overly hot pieces in the machine, so we flip it back on by switch, hit the power button and nothing...

All in all, I think my dinosaur kicked the bucket... Right now I am on hubby's computer, and will be switching to the laptop later on today...

Another thing happened last night, the connection went, and when we tried to dial in, it told us the user name and password were incorrect... This morning, upon calling the provider, we come to find out, that we have used all 200 hours, which is odd, since we "thought" our month started on the 13th, the day we pay for the service... WRONG!!! No matter what time of the month we pay, the hours are from the 1st to the end of the month... And as some of you know, hubby has been alpha testing a new online game, and spending a lot of time doing so, which is why we burned through those 200 hours... As they say, it's not a dedicated ISP, as we are only allowed 4 hour connections, can not download programs larger than 2 megs, unless it's a server update, in which it's coming from the site or program, then it's not an issue... So we are looking into another ISP, as we are paying $16 a month for this crap, and this was the final straw that broke the camels back, so to speak...

I have rambled enough, I am off to go check into other options... as we were given 30 extra hours, which isn't all the much to last til the end of the month.... ~RME~

sounds like a good idea to get another isp.. one  wishes You luck, Mistress
..you can not grasp it.
You can  only touch the  fire and be seared by it,  even destroyed  in it's embrace, but never can you hold it, not for a heartbeat.
