injuries and arrests
« on: September 10, 2008, 02:51:28 PM »
Marques Colston, the New Orleans Saints' top receiver during the past two seasons, had surgery on his left thumb and will miss four to six weeks.

Titans quarterback Vince Young has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, will not play Sunday at Cincinnati. Combined with Young's reaction to being heavily booed in Sunday's opener, his mental state has been questioned heavily

The San Francisco 49ers put quarterback Alex Smith on injured reserve on Wednesday with a broken bone in his right shoulder, probably ending the former No. 1 draft pick's disappointing four-year career with the club.

Cleveland Browns starting safety Sean Jones will have arthroscopic knee surgery and likely be sidelined for at least one month

Indianapolis Colts starting defensive tackle Ed Johnson was arrested early Wednesday on a drug possession charge.
Colts president Bill Polian said the team was still gathering facts about the case before determining how it will discipline Johnson, but Johnson will not play Sunday at Minnesota.

Coach Herm Edwards is hinting that the Kansas City Chiefs may go with some sort of two-quarterback system while Brodie Croyle is sidelined with a separated shoulder.
Croyle, the oft-injured third-year pro, was hurt in Sunday's 17-10 loss at New England and will be out two to four weeks

Star outside linebacker Shawne Merriman pulled the plug on his 2008 season on Tuesday when he told the San Diego Chargers he'll have surgery on the two torn ligaments in his left knee.

Looking to bolster their offensive line following injuries to starting guards Vince Manuwai and Maurice Williams, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed veterans Milford Brown and Chad Slaughter on Tuesday.

~curses up a storm about Merriman~ The man rocks on the field, though I had an idea that he wouldn't last long this season, no matter how much he wanted to play... ~sighs~ At least he's doing this now, and not waiting longer, which would make matters worse and would have more than likely ended his career with this injury
