Bump because people need to be reminded.  MTC is like a badge of Honor we wear proudly.  You leave, leave it at the door.  You have to earn your right to wear it.

And, *sad smile*, there are those who were killed and driven away...who do miss you all so much...

But, you are a family that is hard to be accepted into.

I do wish you all well.

If you like apples, read on....

You know, Ive tolerated this pity party people seem to want to throw repeatedly for themselves for quite a bit long enough.  Yes some were killed.  SLAVES who fail tend to get killed.  SLAVES who displease tend to get punished or even killed.  MOST were not driven away.  Risky was killed and driven away.  SOME were killed because THEY failed repeatedly and kept throwing the pity crap all over the place.  Then off to other realms they went.  THESE people were well wished and hoped for better roleplay environment.  That is not driven away no matter what they think.  Then they may fail there or were "setup" as some would put it there.  Fine.  It didnt work out for them there.  MANY speak in length with Ragnar, come back to Gor during Events and in that returned fully with success or move to other rooms to find new family and friends and even Trues.  A knew home, new personna, new found place in Gor.  Guess what?

MOVE ON

Is what we do.  Characters die here in Gor.  And allow me to direct this to some now.  Some of you are not the first to feel like a part of you died with your first character.  It happens.  You certainly were not left with no one to help you.  Even when some people X'd out multiple times, which in itself is punishment from our fold by banishment, they were allowed to return, numerous times.  Even when they left fully, I may go out of my way to contact you, find your true email and attempt to explain what was expected and how you could improve and how the Tuchuk family worked.  And here is a kicker classic response I see people say about Gor, to them Gor was like a Sims game.  And if it such like a Sims game then why dont they quit dwelling on the past and look to their future and their home they have now?  Yes I still have the emails just in case.  End of my direct comment to them.

A good enough Gorean will realize that they have a place, there is a new home and that is where they need to focus their attention.  To the prosperity and expansion of their home, the quality for their roleplay and further involvement with other homes or other "characters" of Gor to help "character" development.

People should really try and do that.  It will make them and their fine home better for it.  The more they dwell on the past failures and reflect on the pity they felt for that time, the more they remain in that frame of mind and they will advance no more.  Remember people, you are not the only one to feel such things.  Gor is full of people that have lost first characters or felt like a part of them has died or the fire in their belly is gone.

We might try to make reference and say its not about us because we use inuendos like "those" or "some people" or "them" but deep down, we know who it is about or in reference to or directed or indirectly spoken to.

For reference and to finish the started pondering question at the beginning....

How you like them apples?

~wondering in, plucking an apple from Master Raz's stash before adding my own thoughts to the topic at hand~

over the years that i have been allowed to be part of this home, there have been many, many folks that have come and gone. and yes, a few of those have even been killed and/or forced out. over time - Men, Women and slaves have all faced that same grisly fate. ironically, all of them seemed to walk a similar path that brought them to that point...

at least one of these lines will get spouted, oddly enough if they live/stay long enough, most of them will say all of these things in some fashion or another-

no one understands me
no one includes me
everyone picks on me
it's my free time to spend here and I should be entertained
it's not fair to me....
I deserve....
I earned....
I should have that honor/scar/title/bead/position/FC/slave/Owner...whatever...
He/she has stolen what should be mine
it would make more sense to me if things were done this way (instead of how it says on the pages or in the books)...

what it boils down to is - people sitting behind a screen, seeking to "play" at Gor. using all the people here to fill a void or a gap in their hollow lives. even though, when asked, these same people will tell anyone and everyone that will listen about their busy, demanding career or their full, bustling home life. either way, in their rt lives they are busy busy busy and able to run/do everything, just like a real life super hero! or it's sooo full of drama and strife, a place no one understands them, yet, they have so much, so many others to take care of in such a cruel and unloving world...yet, some how they still have hours upon hours to spend here - wanting, needing to be the center of attention, unable to be a solid functioning part of the whole instead they try to make Tuchuk allll about them.

this home (yes, the very same home that so many like to claim is soo...'cliquish') allows these same people to return. we have the belief that people can change, that they can grow, everyone makes mistakes, that we can teach them and they will learn!! some folks, this really does work for. they grasp the idea that each one of us has a part, each one of us makes up the whole of Tuchuk. that if they take the time to read the rules (ie-the web pages) and follow those...to try and add to the whole instead of trying to make it all their own. simply put - when they stop trying to remake Gor on their terms...they thrive.

some folks find that else where when they leave us. no harm, no foul...finding somewhere that you're truly happy is a wonderful thing. really!

but

to hang on to the past with such passion, sadly rewriting the way events happened so they have their own little melodrama (where they of course are the star/victim of the show), to gain sympathy and even more attention.....

really?

move on. let it go and focus on what GOOD you have now. wherever that might be, here, there or anywhere.

This was all well put, and said. It's interesting how some think of themselves to be the best, brightest, smartest, end all and be all to everyone/everything. With absolutely nothing left to learn, grow, and change from.

no one understands *me*  = Do you get to know others to understand them?
no one includes *me*.  = Do you include others?
everyone picks on *me* = Suck it up.
it's *my* free time to spend here and *I* should be entertained = Entertain yourself.
it's not fair to me.... = So? Maybe something else will be later.
*I* deserve.... = You 'earn'
*I* earned.... = Good for you. Did you really?
*I* should have that honor/scar/title/bead/position/slave/Owner...whatever... = shoulda/coulda/woulda. Get over yourself.
He/she has stolen what should be *mine* = Get over yourself.
it would make more sense to *me* if things were done this way (instead of how it says on the pages or in the books) = It is written and done like that for a reason.
*I'm* not playing that storyline out. It has nothing to do with *my* character = so? not everything is. if you don't backup another storyline. why would anyone wish to backup yours? Two way street.
*I* only want to play with so and so. Why bother come in for anything else = because there are more than one person in rp. Only wishing to play with one, or another. That is pretty shallow.

The ones I added? Simply my own opinion and could be wrong. Though the 'self centered' way of thinking seems to solely drive some individuals. Constantly concentrating on the negatives, and stomping their feet like immature children. Simply because not everything is about them, or done 'for' them. Not everyone gets 'their' way in rp, or in life for that matter. One singular char will never constantly be the focus of the rp. The way of this 'me, me, me, I, I, I' thinking is not only negative? It's a weight others will not deal with for a long length of time.

Some of that drive could be sprouted from r/t dissatisfaction. Pushing the person too deeply into things. Demanding more power, control, attention. When it isn't being earned. It works the same way in r/t than it does within 'the online world'. Disappointment in both r/t and r/p. Loosing the drive for either and refusing to open up their eyes and think. "Well damn. I could have done 'blah blah' and it would have been different!". It's about learning, and growing. If you refuse to learn from your mistakes. Why would you expect to grow from it?

The wonderful thing I have found about Gorean rp. More pointedly within MTC itself? There is 'always' something to learn. Always something to do. Then always the exciting 'impending doom' of the ST. (-grin-).

I have been guilty of the 'me' plague before. But guess what. I talked to someone I trusted about it, and got corrected. Even though at the time it was a hard pill to swallow, and I grudgingly rechecked my pride? It was well worth it. Because from that one harsh moment? Became many great moments, and fulfilling things. Not only IC within the room, but OOC as a person as well. I opened my eyes, and wound up seeing a lot of great people. Rp's that have choked me up, or got me laughing till I almost fell off my own chair. Why someone would focus on one or a couple of situations where they were unsatisfied to the point where they would pack up and leave(to snoop to keep tabs later)? Instead of learning from the experience? Is beyond me.

If one person does not feel, respected, cared about, or cherished enough. Then does not try to learn the possible reasons why. Or try to understand why not everything isn't focused on them. Or why every person present does not trip over themselves to greet them in some ego fattening fashion? It's not too hard to open up your eyes. Take a good look around yourself, and wonder why that is. Why you personally behind the screen feel that way.

Not pull out of Camp, and keep 'tabs'. Or leaving any home/site, and continue to over analyze everything and cut people down who may or may not have anything to do with it. If one person is so busy pointing fingers, and yabbering on about how horrible other people are? It's called denial. Get over yourself, suck it up. Learn from your mistakes, or simply go away and stay gone. If a place is 'that' horrible. Why continue to go back, snoop, and keep 'tabs' on what is still going on?

Now what was posted in this. Is simply my own personal view on whats posted above, among other things. My apologies if I had run off topic in this little rant.

some people, are simply curious, as to what has happened to MTC because they once cared about it. it's like an old friend, you wish well every once in awhile and you let it go, but sometimes, the thought returns and lingers for a bit and leaves you wondering. there is no ill will, no rumor spreading, no need for attention, no comparison of the present or the past. Tuchuk simply remains a part of you after you go. so you look and learn and then return to what you were doing, sometimes with a little smile, sometimes with a little sigh. i'm more than happy to know that Tuchuk continues to thrive. i wish it well.
