When Tuchuks Rode Horses?
« on: March 23, 2012, 10:13:54 PM »
When people cite examples of mistakes made on Old Gor, wagon people riding horses in some of the first camps is a frequent example.  I never saw it, but I think Ragnar has spoken of it.  Look what I found on the way to looking up something else:
Kimba, PantherClaw Taluna Jungle, WM

That is an example of an artist not being the author. Also Gor movie(s) were serious blaspheme against what is actually Gor.

Never trust motion pictures or artist renditions as factual. Do the research and draw one's own conclusions.  :)

Ok, but maybe in the French translation, they rode horses?

I suppose it is possible, but not highly probable. It would change a great deal about the entire culture. I do not read French so I am unable to say for sure. There may even be no actual translation given it is a "made up" word.

Quite the interesting cover actually.  Boris Vallejo circa 1979.  The french word for horse is un cheval which is masculine version and in singular reference "a horse".  Boris has done many a fantasy artcover as we all know to include a number of the Tarzan and Conan series.  Many featuring models of his wife's face.  Even his son Dorian has ventured into the fantasy artworld.  But, to the point, Im sure that it was just the cover, after all, is a female, uncollared, barely clothed and riding the forefront.  I wouldnt say a taluna or panther due to the fine jewelry and of course the turban, but hey, who knows.  Granted the Artwork was entitled Nomads but that could be in reference to gypsies, desert nomads or any inkling of wanders from history or fantasy.
