Burning Shells in the Southern Perimeter
« on: August 25, 2016, 10:00:54 AM »
After checking with the Bosk Tender Clan  regarding grazing locations and obtaining over dried grass from the Grass Gatherers Clan, a small caravan of our wagons departed for the Southern Parameter last night. We will be burning shells down to usable lime once the clay/mud/grass kilns are set up.

(Note to Clan: Purchase of over dried grass was made to expedite our task, since we left a day later than planned, to catch up on Paga bottle production. There is obviously plenty of fresh glass near our burning grounds but dried will better suit our needs.)

We continued to burn shells in the clay/mud/grass kilns and then reburned the product in water to complete the chemical transformation. If we remain on schedule, we should be heading back to camp in another day or so. Being so close to Thassa it is tempting to make a brief trip yet duty, thus far, keeps us from its beauty.

Another day was spent converting shells into lime which we will use to make glass. Several thralls had a varying level of eye irritation from the lime. No cases of actual blindness have been reported as of yet. We will continue until we run out of shells and then return to camp.

We finished burning the last of the shells down to usable lime and even found time for a quick lived, much loved kailla ride, before heading back to Camp. We now have multiple clan thralls with a variety of eyesight issues and two of those completely blind, were disposed of. They will be easily replaced, as needed.
