This Week's Gossip
New York City, the Big Apple, the city that never sleeps. Well it sure didn't sleep early last Saturday night for me. David Dewher agreed to stop in my Plaza Hotel suite for a nightcap after dropping of Rachel at Carnegie Hill.

We'd spent the night at Bobby Campbell's studio doing that photo shoot I mentioned in last week's column and I had been pestering David for an interview, so there we were, still drinking and chatting in front of the fire at 4:00 am Sunday morning. It was too late for him to catch the last ferry over to Staten Island, so of course I had him spend what was left of the night with me.

That worked out well since David joined Rachel and I for Sunday brunch downstairs in the Palm Court. I called Diego Farina and he hurried over to meet the new councilman on Staten Island. They were still sitting there talking when Rach and I left. I'm sure Diego picked up the check.

On Monday, Diego and I caught a Delta flight down to Jacksonville to watch our Giants in the Monday Night Football game. Diego rented us an elegant suite in the Hyatt Regency Hotel and we had dinner there in the magnificent Trellises Restaurant. Diego called the concierge desk in the hotel and arranged for a car to drive us to the stadium. When we arrived downstairs a large black Mercedes S-Class was waiting, driver at the ready.  When we arrived at the stadium we were hosted by the mayor, John Peyton, in one of the upper luxury suites.

While they watched the game that the Jaguars won, 26-10, I spent my time sitting at the bar chatting with a handsome young bartender. Needless to say, Diego wasn't pleased with the Giants loss, so I arranged a late night date with the bartender after the game was over. Once again it was after 4:00 am Tuesday before I snuck back in Diego's suite. He was already sound asleep so I didn't have to do any explaining that night, however he was teasing and smirking at me all the way back home Tuesday afternoon. I finally got up just in time to shower and catch a taxi to the airport.

An anonymous source has informed me that Rafe Michaels might be replacing Eva Macy in the December issue of Vogue. It seems that Eva was on a date with the infamous Mister Pussy, Mitch Saylor, and never arrived for her photo shoot with Bobby Campbell. I know Mitch, so I have a pretty good idea why she never showed up. Bobby called Rafe and used her for the dress advertisement photos.

On Wednesday afternoon, Rachel and I shared first class seats on a flight from LaGuardia to Pittsburgh where we both celebrated Thanksgiving with our families. We shared a similar flight back on Friday. After all that traveling, I was too whipped to even go out Friday night so I slipped into a comfy nightgown, sipped white wine and played with a few internet chat room friends.

Last Saturday the police fired 50 rounds at a car leaving the Kalua Cabaret, a strip club in Queens. Sean Bell 23, was driving the vehicle that hit one of seven police undercover officers and then collided with an unmarked police van not once, but twice. Bell was killed in the ensuing heavy gunfire. Two other men in the vehicle were wounded numerous times and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The men were holding a bachelor party for Sean, who was supposed to get married that very day. The undercover police were in the strip club collecting evidence regarding the club's history of narcotics, prostitution and illegal weapons. Mayor Bloomberg said that the automobile accident led the officers to believe the men in the vehicle were armed and dangerous.

The police are refusing to comment until their investigation of this nasty affair is complete. A grand jury investigation is also in process to determine what if any charges might be filed.

I spoke with Diego Farina regarding the incident, but he said he'd never been in that strip club and had no idea what might have really happened there.

Yesterday I upset my best friend, Rachel, when I refused to let her attend my interview with Manhattan councilman, Mike Miller. Mike had agreed to meet with me in my Plaza Hotel suite as I wrapped up my interviews with most of the recent winners. In order to pacify her, Mike suggested that we hold the interview in his Plaza Hotel suite instead of mine. Some of the questions I ask in my interviews can get quite personal and I wanted Mike to feel free to answer without Rach listening in.

For heaven's sake, surely she knows I wouldn't try and seduce her boyfriend. They're both in their thirties and unmarried and have been dating for years. Mike said the reason they've never considered marriage is because of their careers. Mike plans to run for either the New Your City Mayor office or the state senator's seat in 2008. I'm not sure why that should affect their decisions, but they do have the right to remain single. Hell, I do.

Entertainment
This Wednesday night, November 29th at 10:00 pm ET, the Off-Broadway Creative Arts Theatre will be offering Rachel Tatellio's version of Will & Grace - Yours, Mine and Ours. It should be fun and I will be sitting in my center seat in the back row watching to see who might show up and who sits with whom.
