This Week's Gossip
Last Sunday morning it was cloudy and windy at 44 degrees, so I dragged myself out of my nice warm bed, slipped into my sweats and headed for Central Park for my morning run with Audrey Tatellio since Rachel had slept over at Mike Miller's place and I knew she'd never make it.
Audrey was bubbling because she felt she'd done a good job on the witness stand in the Charlie Black trial. She was waiting for the closing comments by Nelle Porter and Diane Neal before the jury could return a verdict.
I got home after our run and I was just stepping out of the shower naked when Jon Bon Jovi called me and initiated what seemed like a phone sex call. Before it went too far he stopped and said "April Fool's Day" and asked if I knew where Rachel was. I knew to expect all kinds of humorous jokes and mental masturbation on Sunday, but this one caught me by surprise.
Obviously Rachel had turned her cell phone off while spending the night, and of course the morning, with Mike. I simply said I wasn't sure where Rachel was, a partial truth since I couldn't pin down her actual location at that very minute. She might be in the shower….. with Mike. Jon laughed and said she was probably with Mike. Why do people always want to put you on the spot like that, when they already know the answer?
Gina Reynolds snapped a photo of Eoin Ryan and Tammi Hanlin escorting a drunk out of the Four Seasons Supper Club and putting him in a taxi on Monday night. Although the photograph wasn't real clear, I'm pretty sure I recognized him, Sal Tommasi, the brother of recently deceased Al Tommasi who was burned to death in that car fire.
At the final day of the Charlie Black trial, Nelle did a fine job in her closing statement. Diane Neal made a last ditch effort to save Charlie, but the jury came back quickly with guilty on both counts. Judge Gamble gave Charlie 25 years, saying she was giving him the minimum sentence because of his young age and the fact that he was just doing what some of these fraternity young men do, use Ecstasy to increase their chances of getting laid. Nobody was seriously injured.
The scariest thing this week was that young woman's body found nailed up on a Central Park tree wearing a crown of apples with needles around her head. The immediate area was yellow taped off when Rachel and I were doing our Friday morning run. The police still haven't released the name of that poor prostitute. In my opinion there is no question that killer hates prostitutes.
I spent Saturday night at Diego's home, watching The Lost City with him on his wide screen TV. Andy Garcia starred in his own movie regarding the Cuban revolution, backed by numerous big name stars. Bill Murray plays the movie writer and Cuban novelist, G. Cabrera. Dustin Hoffman plays Mafia gang leader, Meyer Lansky, who wants Fico to add gambling in his famous supper club.
I felt for poor Fico Fellove, the La Tropicana owner, in his romance with Aurora Fellove. He loses her when she joins Fidel Castro to "sell" the Marxist revolution in Cuba. At least Fico does sort of succeed in the end.
As we watched the movie I kept wondering how Rachel might be enjoying her massage from Eoin Ryan, the one I'd scheduled and paid for at the Carnegie Hill Spa. Eoin has wonderful hands just like Jason Maloney, but with slightly different tactics. I'll learn more at our Easter Sunday brunch at the Palm Court.
Entertainment
This Tuesday night, April 10th at 10:00 pm ET, the Off-Broadway Creative Arts Theatre will be offering Rachel Tatellio's version of Will & Grace - Will Works Out. It should be fun and I will be sitting in my center seat in the back row watching to see who might show up and who sits with whom.
