Kimba Avatar challenge
« Reply #120 on: June 01, 2010, 11:47:54 AM »
Over the years, many avi artists have gifted me with beautiful avitars.  I wear a different avi every day, but I really treasure the gifts.

I can't put the word contest near the word art, so I am gonna call it a challenge, because it has been a challenge to me trying to make a special avi.  It's a difficult task what I have in mind, and I thought it might be interesting to see what kind of things people do.

What I am trying to do is:
1) put my model on a jungle background,
2) with her having a tropical tan,
3) wearing garments that appear to be made of Panther fur
4) and visible on her either
4a) the dina brand on her outside left thigh, a few inches below the widest part of her hip, or
4b)a bone-handled dagger sheathed diagonally on the front of her right thigh, with the hilt to the right.

On the one hand, I know it seems like vanity to make myself the focus like this, but on the other hand, I think it would be really interesting to see what people come up with, within these parameters.

I cannot break my long habit and post the name of my avitar model, but if you want to participate, send me an IM, and I will give you links to bazillions of pics of my model.  This is the best I have been able to do so far:

I believe that is the reason she called it a challenge because of the extensive amounts of work needed done.

I would like to see someone step up to that challenge as it is unusual.  Let's see some av skills at work for this request folks.

The av you have pictured within your mind?

Does the one I made show to you?  That meets the requirements of the challenge.  I made that.  I know how to do it.  I merge my layers, so I can't say how many that avi is.

That bikini material is a texture from a fur coat, but you have to find a shot where you don't lose depth when you cover the original material.  I really need to do another version where I do the brand as a separate file, so I can resize it, instead of try to draw it.  That model was on a ship, and I had to resize the background to try and get a good perspective on the whole pic, in comparison to the size of the model.  The main thing I can't do with my cheap software is radically change skin tone and make her more tan.

I could assist you in the tanning. At least give it a shot.

Can sympathize with the pain it is to resize images for Manipulation. Then to attempt to keep it as clear as possible at the same time.

(Also? the amount of layers isn't really important. Just wanted to show that trying to do a perfect representation of a character is difficult..sorry..-nod-)

you know, ive been thinking about this for a few days now... and you know what...

I think im up for the challenge- I might not be as great as some of the other desingers here... but im always willing to try.

is there anything else you want from the av? any particular colors to stay away from? or are you just open to whatever? borders/designs/fonts/quotes in specific?

I am also going to take a crack at this... Have a few ideas running around in my head, though it might take a little while longer than anyone else can get it done in, due to issues on my end... The biggest one is finding a new cooling fan for my laptop... Don't know why, but this is the second laptop fan that has failed on me.. Though I think it's mostly due to old age, they both are the same age, 7 years old, so that is one big thing, the other is that they have been used to death..

But I will get this done.. ~smiles~

No, I think part of the challenge is, except for the base parameters, it's your vision, it's your art.

Taryn, you keep blowing up laptop fans from your just being too hot.

LOL it didn't exactly blow up, it sort of just stopped working... Though by the end of the weekend I should have the laptop back up and running as I found an awesome deal for a new fan... Still using hubby's desktop, though the next item on the must have computer list is a new monitor, as the one he's using is causing a high pitched buzzing sound that has been explained by my nephew as a conflict between the TV output and the computer monitor output... At least that is how it was explained to me as... Either way, it's getting really annoying, as it kicks in at the wrong times, during important parts of movies, tv shows or video games... LOL

I'm not good at making avs, but I found this picture, and maybe someone could use it for an av for you.
