Eye Contact.

Alright, I dont know how many others feel about this and would like to know.


Eye contact.

is it acceptiable for a slave to look a free in the eye? or is it up to personal prefrence?

It was something that I have never minded.... I actuacly prefer eye contact when Im having a discussion with a slave. I was discussing this with ke'tharn last night after I made eye contact with him and he looked away, apolgizing for keeping eye contact with me.

Are they truly prepared to have the soles of their feet lashed or to live on bread crusts for the next five days? But, on the other hand, there is, on Gor, in circles of the mastery, no discouragement, commonly, of eye contact between masters and slaves.

Indeed, in the deep and profound relationships of love and bondage, such eye contact is usually welcomed and encouraged. What can be understood of the glances of masters and slaves by those who have been united only in lesser relationships? Too, to be sure, from the practical point of view, it is useful for the girl to be able to look into the eyes of the master. In this way she may be able to better read his moods, and desires, and, accordingly, be able the better to serve him, in the process perhaps saving herself a few cuffings and beatings, such as might be garnered by a less alert, more slothful, laxer girl. To be sure, all girls, upon occasion, are cuffed or beaten. This is good for them, and helps to remind them that they are slaves. Beauty in a slave girl, incidentally, and most slaves are beautiful, for this is the sort of woman that tends to be enslaved, does not excuse poor service. The most beautiful girl must serve with the same perfection as the lesser girl. Gorean masters are uncompromising on this point.

From the point of view of the master, too, not only is it pleasant to look into the eyes of a slave, but there are certain practical advantages attached to doing so. For example, one might, in her eyes, read desire, and thus order her to perform an act which she, even though a slave, might not have dared to beg to perform, or, say, by looking into her eyes, one might determine if she has been up to something or has neglected something to which she should have attended. Has she been into the sweets? Has she, perhaps gossiping and dawdling with the other girls, been amiss in the discharge of her duties? Perhaps the shopping has not yet been done? Perhaps the laundry has not yet been finished? Such infractions call for discipline. But perhaps, in lieu of discipline, the master will accept the performance of desperate placatory services on the part of the offending slave. The decision is his. I would, incidentally, advise the slave to be superb.

Now.. what I would like to know... is the feelings that each one of you have regarding eye contact, how it makes one feel, if it is prefered, if a slave cannot bring themselves to do it.

ok when i first started in gor . i was taught not to look at the Frees unless They tell you to do so....((remembers all the slaps that i got from that)) now i do agree that the Master or Mistress should see the face of the slave the eyes and facial expressions can tell the Frees what mood you are in.. how happy you are.. if you have something on your mind ect...i my self have trouble looking up to Frees but i am really trying to work on that...if the Free doesnt want the slave to look at them then They will say so...( i have trouble looking at Mistress NS when she is talking to me in rt.........but like i said i am working on it))

when new to gor i too was taught to not look at free.. but too I was also taught no kalana in silver goblets and that rask was an ass... that paga could be served in nothing but 3 footed bowls.. that bazi tea had some gawd awful ritual... that slaves took three steps back.. and on and on.. lol.. over time i've learned truths having read them for myself in the books and such... when gor was new.. there were a few things still to be learned... i don't look the Free in the eyes without being addressed and told to..out of respect.. but when told its ok.. i do, i love to see the expression of care and concern and anger.. so i know how much trouble i am in lol

this girl always tries to maintain eye contact, unless she is being disciplined, and then she lowers them in shame.  the Free love us kajira for our beauty, and my large black eyes are a major expression of my femininity, and, i have been told, are a nice feature of my face.  also, the Free can see into our souls, by keeping eye contact during a serve, an instruction, or a conversation, the Free can see what we are thinking.  several times, in the short time that i have been here, a Free has seen confusion in my eyes, and has taken the time to instruct this little blonde half-breed barbarian. but, these are just the ramblings of a new girl. please excuse me.

having been on both sides of the fence..... yes I came to gor back when you were made to learn that stupid kassarian lingo that I still find highly annoying to this day. to even come into a gorean room one had to perform a karta and beg for all ones worth to be allowed entry, so forth and so one..... sinnocent and I have alot in common it seems in that regards because the same with the service.... paga in a kanthros bowl......kalana never ever served in a silver goblet because it would become toxic and there always seemed to be some Master wanting to shove his chaq into a girls heat... rolls eyes.    I was always taught to keep the head up, chin up but eyes down unless instructed other wise..... and that we always had to speak in third person.  I think woobie even beat me up one time for doing that.


now that I am on the Free side of that fence... I don't think that I agree with that... I want to see the light in a slaves eyes as they move about... gaining knowledge for everything they see.... the hunger in their eyes when they watch a Master eat a peach or the hope that they are found more than just adequate in their service. and even the mischief when the mood strikes them. personally I don't like the whole downcast eyes thing but I could see where it would be a matter of personal preference.  but my personal choice.. is that I want to see their willingness and honesty of service when they offer it.

a lot of times, direct eye contact with One, is torture

it's not always that One will see what might lie inside, kept unexpressed in action or word.

sometimes it's the fear or doubt that One will not look that keeps the eyes downward.

seeing/seeking Their response or lack of, also makes one vulnerable

it can depend on the Person involved and/or the situation

of course, if it's what They want, They get it, no matter how hard it is for me to do
