This Week's Gossip
Last Sunday morning the weather was sunny and beautiful as I ran with Rachel Tatellio and Mary McGrath without a bodyguard supplied by Mr. Farina. Gee, no more pats on the ass by Jason Maloney to urge us on. He claimed those were just to keep us working hard, but we all know better. With the supposed serial killer in jail, life was returning to normal.

The arraignment of Lance Zodic was conducted on Monday and of course I was there along with most of the newspaper reporters, however little was learned as Lance Zodic acted as his own lawyer, claiming he was not guilty as charged. Judge Helen Gamble warned Zodic that this wasn't a prudent choice and that hiring a professional defense attorney made much better sense. Zodic claimed he was waiting to find the lawyer he felt he wanted and needed. Based on that decision, Judge Gamble gave him thirty days to rectify the situation, but refused to allow any bail. Zodic will remain in jail until he selects an attorney and is prepared to properly defend himself.

My interview with Yvette Beauvais was conducted in my Plaza Hotel suite. It will appear in the August issue of InStyle magazine, along with numerous photos advertising both Gucci's most recent dresses and Elite Designs lingerie. Yvette is now the talk of the town, something that resulted unintentionally from Vicki Jenkins having Bobby Campbell run that photo shoot of Yvette in Vicki's Elite Design underwear.

Mary McGrath and I were at Barbara Barton's place for a wild and rowdy Saturday afternoon where we watched a tape of the last Swingtown TV show. The power went off around 7:00 pm in the Upper East Side and some how Barb forgot about her date with Carl Cameron at the Four Seasons until almost midnight. Realizing she was late, she rapidly got dressed while I called her a cab. She told us to just stay there and have fun, that she would be back after the Four Seasons closed.

The surprise was when she returned with a drunken Carl in tow. We helped her get him undressed and tucked in the guest bedroom. She said he had been drinking heavily with some blonde named Peyton Davis before Barb arrived. Barb managed to tell him that Mary McGrath was considering asking him to replace Seamus Clark as co-writer in her next New York City romance novel.

Barb said that Peyton worked for a major talent agency in New York City and she kept badgering Yvette and Jason for a copy of the contract Yvette has with Richard Sawyer. Katie Donovan, the lawyer that helped Barb a bit in the past, arrived just before Barb dragged Carl out to get him in a cab.

Since Carl might not even remember what they talked about in the morning, we agreed to stay and help her convince him that co-authoring a book would go a long way in improving his status as a writer. After I faxed in this column we plan to share the king size bed in the master bedroom while Carl seeps it off in the guest room.

Entertainment
This Tuesday night, July 22nd at 10:00 pm ET, the Off-Broadway Creative Arts Theatre will be offering Rachel Tatellio's version of Kidnapped, a thriller with surprises. I'll be there in case she needs me to cover a role.
