Scout Report
Entry 1
I have not heard back from the last runner that I sent a report with, and this has been unnerving to me. Five days has past and I should have seen the lone warrior by now. This report I am sending by air, as my kite Tiuri can reach camp faster and give news of what may be coming towards Tuchuk.
I have traveled farther south and out of Tuchuk lands to gauge how the winter might find us. I have not seen any good signs. Along the Thassa, the wind chill has dropped the temperature far enough to produce ice on outcropping of rocks along the cliffs. The Skies have been downcast and I have not seen the sun to warm my face for the passing of 8 days. An early winter does not bode well for Tuchuk from what I have experienced out here.
I am sending an Or of my men back on the morrow as three of them were not prepared for these temperatures due to their youth and need to prove themselves “men”, and two others have already run out of rations. Suffice it to say, that was their folly.
True, I smell warm rain in the air and this light coat of snow on the ground here will be cause for concern if it does rain and temperatures drop later. Jagged iced mud is a potential threat, especially for our wagon wheels.
The winds are blowing off the seas and towards Tuchuk. That will leave quite a bit of moisture in the air from here towards the Cartius. The boskhide on the wheels will have to be carefully watched and maintained if this rain and cold happens.
I will report more in two days time.
Also, allow Amber to know she is never far from my thoughts though I might be far from home.
