Annual WEBMAZE Gor Forest Event
''See,'' she said, pointing up to the hills and forests north of Laura. ''Those are the great forests. No one knows how far they extend to the east, and they go north as far as Torvaldsland. In them there are the forest people, but also many bands of Outlaws, some of women and some of men.'' Captive 81
Welcome to The Forest Event Hosted by Webmaze
December 30th, 2009 through January 24, 2010
Spars for Lair Leadership begins December 30th, 2009 and ends Saturday January 2nd with the final match against Ilona for This year's event.
Final night total combat will be January 24, 2010. Who is the most fearsome combatant in the Forest?
Please join us for some fun! This event is where you will create a TRC (Temporary Roleplay Character). Anyone can join a group that is participating, or you may join in on your own.
Due note that during this event, it is required that all TRC's stay within the three rooms that are allocated for this event.(This means you cannot go to any other rooms with this character. It is only in the two specific rooms set up for this event.)
This Event is open to any who may wish to take part regardless of site or the area they usually chat in if other than Gor. Just be warned that this event can become quite graphic and harsh, as Gor is inherently harsh given it's philosophies and mindset.
Scenario:
A simple setting in the Northern Forest of Gor, where any female, slave or free, may become a Panther, and any male may become a Warrior or Woodsman, Outlaw, etc, and enjoy the experience and gaming risks to their TRC (temporary roleplayed character). The weather for this event will be played as taking place during hot weather, just to give us all a break from the real time winter blues.
Lair Leadership:
For Those Panthers wishing to belong to the Lair and wish to challenge for leadership from the surviving Panther of last years event, simply post a message to the message board for this event under the thread Lair Leadership Challenge.
The challenge will proceed as follows...
Those Panthers eligible for the combat will cast lots (roll the dice) and the two having the highest number will be the first challengers. The winner of the first challenge spar will then meet the next challenger according to the descending dice order. This will continue in descending order until the end. The Winner will then face Ilona on Monday night for Lair Leadership. The Leader of the Lair will have skill as well as knowledge in order to best Lead the Lair. The Leader left standing may then appoint her High Girls and lay plans. If you do not have basic knowledge of Panthers, please do not seek to lead. If the past Leader does not answer the challenge, then the winner of the final match will become the default Leader.
Those Panthers wishing to work independent of the Lair are welcome to do so, and judging from last year there are many who do, though having a full Band does have its advantages.
Men's Leadership:
Persay there is none as we know it. This is not to say it will remain this way. Men do as they will. Many work independently and some work together. Bargains are struck and cuts are arranged. The Men may work this out among themselves just as they did during last years event.
Overview:
Three rooms will be used. The Panther Lair, Outskirts, and the "Event Forest Room", where most action will take place. Ventures into the event forest by any would be an indication they accept whatever may happen during the course of the roleplay. Combat may take place, captures, kills, collarings, anything possible in the forest may take place. Panthers would not venture outside their Lair and forest areas. Men would not venture into the actual Lair. The Outskirts and Lair would be safe havens for their respective inhabitants. It is not mandatory that these havens be used by their respective inhabitants as some may desire to remain in the forest area itself for non-stop risks and enjoyment.
The honor system should prevail in this event. If you are killed, return for another try as a new TRC. If taken captive, accept it and follow the rules as listed below. The method of kills/captures/collarings will be based upon the rules of open combat according to Maze guidelines with the exceptons of no judging and no timestamps. Simply do the best you can, enjoy, and be on your honor.
Simple Rules:
The areas for this event will have location pulldowns. To travel through the forest it will take a minimum of two posts to move through each pulldown area. For the two haven areas only one post to move through each pulldown.
Open combat rules will be used but with a more traditional raid guideline approach. There will be no timestamps to contend with. Simply reply to each post as they come. There will be no judges for this event as all rests upon the honor system.
A kill is self explanatory. If you are killed, accept it, and continue with another TRC. If wounded, handle the matter as best you can. if it becomes a mortal wound, then allow your TRC to die and begin again with another TRC.
Captives will be such for a period of three days following their capture day/night. They may try to escape so long as done realistically, otherwise they are at the mercy of their captors. After a three day period if the TRC is unable to escape their captor, they must inform their captor their time is up and their character is removed from play. A new character will be introduced in order to continue in the event. The options to finish the captive aspect are to one, move the captive to the exchange and make a bargain... two, the captive may possibly escape or be rescued. Naturally the captives life is in the hands of their captor. If for whatever reason it becomes impossible to exchange the captive for profit at the end of the captive period, the captive may then be slain and permitted to begin their next TRC.
Spear Dancing is encouraged.
It will be frowned upon for a captive to simply die of wounds in order to avoid their captivity. The captor will see that their wounds are tended to. Some wounds can not be healed, this is accepted. Just do not seek to avoid your fate by maximizing wounds in order to do so.
If you successfully capture another, remember, you have a responsibility to have their wounds tended to and to roleplay out their captivity. You may continue to enter the action in the forest, but do not forget your responsibility to roleplay with your captive either individually or as a team. Try to break your captive. Force your will upon them and see if you really can enslave another in roleplay. All should make the attempt at realistic roleplay whenever possible. After all, this is roleplay and some inconsistencies are to be expected.
For simplicity, mixed teams of Men and Panthers will not be permitted.
Since there are Panthers working solo as well as Men, if a captive is taken by one who is working independently, and they in turn are taken... the captive now left without a captor may be considered as having escaped and may return to the Event.
Example:
Talena is captured by Bluetooth. Bluetooth is then taken by Vala. Bluetooth had no partners or group, so Talena may role play her escape and return to the forest.
Sybal of the Lair takes Remus captive. Sybal is captured by Markus. Remus is still a captive of the Lair and must role play his captivity as it unfolds during the three day captive period.
Allow yourself to become your TRC! Immerse yourself in fun and excitement. This event is geared for all levels from those never having been in such a roleplay situation, to those who may actually roleplay this on a daily basis. The main focus is to have fun!!!

*Almond-shaped eyes coolly assess the group of women who stand before me, a motley crew who will either prove themselves as Panther Girls or... fail. With precise tones, I deliver the wisdom of a Lair Leader.*
Tal, Panther Girls. Each of you has chosen a life outside the norms of Gorean society. From now until the day you die or are enslaved, you will forever be considered an Outlaw Woman. Perhaps you fled a life of slavery or an undesirable Companionship; perhaps you are simply a criminal. Whatever your reason for escaping to the Northern Forests, you have chosen a hard life. Not all of you will survive. Not all of you will remain free.
The Forests are a dangerous place.
We must hunt the panther, the forest sleen, and the tabuk to survive - and we are not alone. Male Outlaws also roam these forests - traitors, criminals, and out-Castes who have been banished from their cities. You might think male and female Outlaws could help one another... perhaps mate... but they see us only as slaves, and profit! Remember, too, that we have chosen to live away from the control of men.
This is not to say that Outlaw Men are not useful. After all, they can be sold for arrowheads, bags of candy, and whatever else is of worth to women such as we!
Beware, also, the rival bands of Panther Girls and the lone women who inhabit these forests. Never forget that they might also seek to capture and sell you. The only true safety is within the Lair.
Our Lair consists of a wooden wall of upright logs that encircles a small group of huts. Great pains are taken to conceal this camp and to keep its location a secret! Lookouts and guard watches maintain the safety and secrecy of our home base. Captives are led blindfolded within our walls, and trade takes place at safe zones known as Exchange Points along the banks of the Laurius River. To reveal our location to the enemy is to ensure slavery or death for us all!
As for Lair politics... The Lair Leader is respected in much the same way a Ubar would be. She is the difference between life and death for her band. She is assisted by a Second in Command and a council of three or four High Girls, and she leads a dozen or so girls who hold no rank. Regardless of rank, all Panther Girls pull equal weight in the Lair, and each will do her fair share of work!
If you wish to join this Lair, you will look and act in the manner befitting a Panther Girl. The silks of the slave or the robes of the free woman are not practical here. You must be able to move freely as you hunt, and so you will wrap yourselves in the skins of forest panthers. You might bind your breasts in a halter and drape your hips with hide; you might perhaps fashion a short, thigh-baring dress. Forget the customs of men, customs that have long since told you that the baring of legs and arms and cleavage is the behavior of slaves! You will proudly adorn your revealed beauty with necklaces of shells and animal teeth, with gold bracelets, anklets, necklaces, bangles, and armlets!
*Depthless black orbs again scan the rag-tag group of women, giving ample opportunity for the more light of heart to leave now, if they so wish. After a long pause, I continue*
And now, a few words on the hunt.
We do not carry the swords and the shields, nor the lances and the crossbows of men. Rather, we carry the weapons of the hunt -- knives strapped to our thighs or thrust into our belts, a bow and a quiver of arrows, a spear. Though ours is not the stronger sex, we are deadly with our arrows as a first line of attack or defense.
Remember - just as we would not take on the panther or the sleen in a head-to-head combat, unless there was no other choice, we hunt the human male with stealth, using the element of surprise.
Now we come to the part most of you have been waiting to hear: the domination of males.
We Panther Girls are not the Lesbians that some might assume. We do, in fact, find sexual gratification in the use of males, since that use is on our own terms! Once a staked-out captive has been sufficiently beaten, degraded, and starved into submission, he will find himself the object of our Spear Dance. As our sexual needs grow upon us, we will strip ourselves naked in a frenzy of dancing in the moonlight, stomping and whirling while jabbing our spears at the helpless captives, never quite touching their vulnerable bodies. Then, when we can stand the suspense no longer, we will rape the males who passions we have aroused, making clear our dominance over them!
A final note: The tables can be turned on us at any time. The woman standing beside you today may fall prey to slavery tomorrow. And if she does... it is because she was lacking as a Panther Girl! We do not form search parties to recover our captured sisters! Many a time have I seen those who were once members of this Lair awaiting sale at the Laurius Exchange Points, and have spit upon them and called them slave! And should I fall prey to men, I would expect the same!
*My chin lifts proudly, my almond-shaped eyes fierce. Decisively, I stamp my spear butt on the loam of the forest floor, calmly awaiting the first challenger for leadership.*
