Yes cheerleaders use poms too fred, but I have had both here....cheerleader and poms....and my personal preference is poms

Poms do the dancing and the cheerleaders do the cheering.  Cheerleaders get more exposure than poms, but I prefer dancing over cheering.  FYI:  I can do both well.....laughs
