the sad thing is Brett has no business trying to do this season. with the repeat surgeries, and the wear and tear his body has already had he's going to get hurt. there are teams out there with a grudge against him. this is not going to be an easy season and in truth he should have taken the trip to retirement. he would serve better now as a coach at the high school or college level and pass on the knowledge that his father gave him about playing the game.
I'm sure most of you didn't know he played for his father while His dad coached at Hancock county high school, in the Kiln Mississippi. His father was an outstanding coach and a force to be dealt with each time an opposing team took the field. His mother was his saving grace is likely still is. unfortunately both his brother and his sister have spent time in jail for various offenses. but that's neither here nor there. Its time to go home Brett... before you lose so much more
I have to disagree sis.
His heart is football. That is what he does. Most of your football players have a dream. He is living his. Who are we to tell a man he cannot do what he wishes so long as it is legal and harms nobody.
Look at his stats for last year. Do they look like the stats for a man ready to be put out to pasture?
He of all people knows and accepts the risks involved. Every guy that takes the field in pro football, down to the parents of the lil tykes just starting, know the risks involved. Everything from scratches to potential death is a possibility inherent to the game.
Does the possibility for injury rise with age? Certainly. But does age guarantee injury? Most certainly not.
If someone is going to be injured, or even die, I can think of no better way to go out than doing what you love to do.
