MIGRATION LOG
« on: December 20, 2015, 11:29:30 PM »
I hate reports. I always get stuck making these log entries. Did I mention I hate reports?

After a much awaited move, Camp was ordered to move out.

One fatality noted. Listed as accidental.

One reported injury, a young Lad broke some bones in his hand.

Wren was ringed and branded.

Camp unwound from its center as usual, and now sits single file fully encircling where the camp once sat. Come morn, tend all stock, checking the bosk closely for rubbing from yokes and harness.

Check kailla paws and claws for ice buildup and sores.

Milk the bosk and gather eggs as normal, and distribute as needed.

Warriors will be on watch through the night, and any offering of hot drink will be appreciated.

Be ready to move upon command.

The current conditions are winds and below freezing temperatures. Keep a close eye on the stock. Cover as needed.

A light snow is falling, but no real accumulation is expected to be added to what already exists.

End report.

Oraluman Cassius.

I hate reports!!!!!

Entry One

The wagons moved out making good progress despite the cold and snow. It actually was of assistance. It is too cold for the snow to pack around wheels slowing the march. It is cold enough it crusted and powdered as it was traversed, and the dust blown away by the winds.

The main herd has joined up with the column to our left flank.

We have reached the wilds beyond our territory and are stopped to rest and tend to any repairs.

Some medical issues were reported. See Healers Log for details.

Continue with all general orders and be sure to stay warm. Eat when you can and rest. The Warriors are keeping watch. There will be hot bosk available come first light for those wishing.

We will move again come the morrow.

Entry Two

Weather continues to both aid and hinder. It remains cold, creating its own inherent dangers, yet with the cold comes freezing, which removes mud or soft ground from the equation.  The snow remains crusted and powdery, and even when upon the ground it continues to blow and drift with the winds. One's wagon platform can be covered one moment and completely free of snow the next as we discovered during a near whiteout during the early night hours.

The 1st Oralu has been reported to have become entangled with Kassar and Kataii Oralus to the column's rear Ror (Northeast). The 1st held and Kassar and Kataii pulled back. Casualties are yet unknown, and The 1st Oralu will have to catch up to the column on their own.

With the snow so crusty and powdery, it does break free and blow easily, which does allow the grazing stock to access the grass enough to continue grazing, though it is not the best grass this time of year. This will improve along our march.

We Commanders do not expect an additional attack, as during the whiteout the column has reached Turian territory. Turians would not be thrilled to have the Wagon Peoples battling back and forth on their lands or within their City. I suppose Turia does have its uses.

Continue tending the bosk and kaiila, tend the other stock. Check all hooves and paws for snow, stones, bruises, anything and everything which can harm them of slow our march.

Bosk have been ordered butchered, so everyone should get some hot meat. It may not be a feast, but a little hot meat can go a long way when one is cold.

It is our intent to continue due Klim (West) to reach Turia before stopping again. All we do will work towards this goal in some way, though many may not immediately see the wiliness of Tuchuk.

The herd remains to our left flank just Vask (South) of the column no more than ten wagon widths away.

Shine the bells, baubles, and rings of our bosk. Tuchuk will not be seen by Turia as beat down by anything. Strength and beauty will be presented. Repair minor damage as best as possible. Any serious damage will have to wait, and is expected.

The column will proceed once again as soon as possible. Be ready to do so.

Continue to maintain all general orders given for the march.

See Healers Report for additional information.

Entry Three

The 1st has returned and we have arrived in Turia. (See Healers Log)

The column and herd are in the migration encampment area outside a secondary gate into Turia. Before entering Turia, see to it your stock has been tended properly and the bosk set to grazing.

A table is set up just outside the gate. Stop there before going in. Arrangements have been made for a bath, shave, haircut, laundry services for those items to are wearing at the time, etc etc etc. All the trimmings including snacks for those wishing to indulge and just soak. A small glass coin/bead is required for this service. Those of the main area of camp get one per customer, slaves included if you behave do not tear down the baths. Each kajira of the main area is to receive five copper to spend as they wish, those privately owned included... thralls 2 copper... even those privately owned as a gift from the First Wagon.

"Merchant carts from the City roll out the secondary gate headed for the wagons. Turian slaves walk beside and begin dispersing the contents among the main camp wagons. Gifts from the Ubar and Ubara... Fine bottles of wine for every free Woman... a set of small finger cymbals in pairs for each girl... a new whet stone and oil for each Warrior... and a new woolen blanket for each thrall."

Kataii and Kassar arrived at Turia and it proved most interesting.

Hostilities commenced within the City with fighting in the streets and some of the shops and tavern.

The Kataii and Kassar were forced from the City and all those trapped inside were slain out of hand. Needless to say the Administrator is not happy.

The Administrator has decreed that no more then one hundred Kataii and Kassar may enter Turia while Tuchuk remains.

The Caste of Physicians are assisting our Healers in tending to the wounded.

(Role Play was paused for the night during the immediate aftermath so it may be played out in its entirety. It is mid to late afternoon, with sunny skies and the temperature within the City is in the mid to high 50's.)

Turian Cavalry have stationed themselves between Tuchuk's migration encampment and that of the Kataii and Kassar. Neither will be permitted to enter the other.

This action has slowed deliveries to the wagons of goods, and in some cases halted them altogether until full order can be restored and damages seen to.

Tuchuk's traditional Turian feast put on by the Ubarr and Ubara... for those of the main area, free and slave alike, full members, and guests are expected to attend. It will be held Sat night in the Dining area of the inn.

Do remember to post purchases and their cost for your supplies. Not every piece of candy or every drink need be accounted for.  Just those things having an actual impact on your, or the camp's standard role play.

Entry Four

Tuchuk has departed Turia. The weather was downright cold... below freezing as the column moved out just prior to dusk.

Given the cold, I have chosen to continue moving through the night. It is the best way I know of to stay warm and keep the stock warm.

The ground is frozen rock hard, but there is very little to any snow save for some dusting in spots.

The column will continue rolling until commanded to stop. We need to try and put some distance between ourselves and the Kassar and Kataii.

Entry Five

The column continued to move. Given the terrain, it was slow going but steady progress was made.

The Roofers Clan was dispatched to tend to Ollie and Tucker's wagons. The repairs should be done within a ahn or two.

The wagons have stopped for a time to tend the stock and to get some hot food. They will move again before the worst of the night cold sets in, and will continue moving until another halt is called for.

There was little to no sun visible through the overcast sky, and with the wind it placed the temperature at its highest in the mid 20's.

If the terrain improves, I hope to make up time and get into warmer weather as soon as we possibly can.

Bosk were slaughtered and meat passed to all in need for cooking.

Maintain all the usual cold weather general orders.

I know of two injuries. A head injury to Iseabail and a broken arm suffered by the bond sparkle. Izee treated. See Healers Log for further details.

Entry Six

Fair progress was made once out of the iced areas. The temps are still below freezing, though a bit warmer than last entry.

The column halted to rest and tend the stock just prior to midday. A funeral pyre was made for those Warriors who fell in Turia. Being well beyond Turian territory where the plains are wild and free, it was fitting.

Meat was dispensed to those in need, and some much needed rest was obtained.

The column has moved out again prior to the full cold of night, and will continue moving until the command comes to once again halt.

Patrols returned and relayed information which I will have to think on before taking any action.

End Entry

Entry Seven

The wagons continue to move without stopping until we reach water. The moonless starless night makes distance difficult to judge. Keep the small lamps lit at the rear of the wagons.

Keep the column in tight and be ready for anything.

It is still extremely cold with strong winds.

The 1st Oralu has gone back to stop Kassar and Kataii Oralus from overtaking our column from the rear. Cassius' Oralu remains as a rear guard should the enemy get through The 1st.

All wagons shall keep weapons close at hand. All able to use the bow will do so if called upon to do so. Women of Tuchuk... this includes you! Slaves will take cover in the closest secured wagon possible to assist in binding wounds and other supporting duties.

Keep the wagons moving. Water must be reached for the stock and the barrels. This is imperative.  A strong pace has been set. Maintain it.

Entry Eight

The wagons reached a secondary river and the stock drank their fill and the water barrels were filled. Once crossed, the column halted for five ahn to rest the teams and tend to personal matters. During the halt, kaiila began returning thundering through the column. Some were Kassar, some Kataii, and many were displaying the blue and gold saddleblankets of The 1st Oralu. All the kaiila were obviously through a battle, and were running out of sheer fear. NONE bore any riders.

One injury has been reported thus far. (See the Healer's Log.)

Many of the mounts were recovered, but many continued to keep running blindly into the wilds. All should keep an eye out for these riderless mounts and recover them as we go if possible. Do bear in mind these are highly trained mounts used for war. They are not your common riding variety. All are dangerous, but a Warriors mount is trained to fight and kill as one with their Master. Just because they are riderless does NOT mean they may not still try to kill you.

DRAGONSLAIR conducted a thorough search for intruders, and none were found. It was a good drill should any have noticed.

The wind has seemed to calm to a normal breeze, and the temperature is rising, now in the low 30's this night and is expected to rise come the morn.

Continue maintaining all general orders.

Entry Nine

The column moved through the night and finally were halted in a shorter, wider formation. The condition of the teams and Warriors required the column to spend the night in place for rest and food.

The temperature is slowly growing warmer.

More kaiila are returning to the column. Catch what can be safely caught, avoid those still too wild to catch safely. One injury related to such a kaiila will be placed in the Healer's log.

As Warriors moved through the wagons doing a wellbeing check, it was discovered that though Izee and her party remained, the other Torvaldslanders vanished during the night without word. This is not viewed with a friendly eye. Many of our home feel used and abandoned when no longer needed. Such will not likely happen again. The teams and wagons willingly given for their use will likely become camp property once again.  Life goes on. It is good we were not dependent upon them to guard a position within the column. This development will not reflect upon Izee and Lancer nor their party, as they have repeatedly proven themselves.

The Ubara may have more detailed information, but it seems Cassius' 4th Oralu has wounded of The 1st. Carts and an Or of Salem's Oralu have been sent back to bring as many of them as possible safely back to the column.

Rumor has it the engagement was quite bloody and costly.

Maintain all general orders. Tend the stock, tend yourselves. Get as much rest and relaxation as possible but be ready to move on a moments notice. The Butchers Clan has meat available to those wishing, and the Dung Collectors Clan has dried dung available if needed.

The column is still in position where it halted.

Though intending to press on, wounded arrived of The 1st making it next to impossible to proceed without further endangering them. See Healer's Report for detailed information.

The column is heavily Guarded and another night of rest may not be so bad for the People as well as the stock. I would presume the column will again attempt to proceed as soon as possible.

Buddha's girl fire had her branding completed by the Ubara.

Dung for the braziers and fresh bosk meat was offered to those in need.

A Visitor is staying in a Guest Wagon, by the name of Ayala, waiting to speak with the Ubar.

Maintain all general orders and be ready to move when the command is given.

Entry Eleven

The column is once again on the move in the tall grasses making good time. The additional period of rest worked wonders for both Warrior and Beast.

The column did not move when expected, but did manage to move once night fell. A glow was spotted in the distance South of the column.

While halted, the wagons were gone over well to help ward off any break downs.

Six Warriors of The 1st walked back into camp separated from the Oralu. (See Healers Report)

Ayala still remains with us, though her escorts were killed as they were useless to begin with.

I have noticed Sidona is becoming increasingly concerned as two of her Sons are of The 1st and are unaccounted for. With the exception of those who have returned to the column, all the others are unaccounted for. I do suspect the glow to the South is an indication at least some of them are still doing their duty.

The Healers and healing slaves are beginning to stress and be stretched thin. Any assistance, regardless how minor it may seem, will be appreciated. Even simple tasks will be of great value.

The temperature is rising the further we continue Ta Sardar Var.

The wagons will continue moving until commanded to halt.

Column is stopped in the area of the springs.

More of The 1st returned and will go back into the field after getting patched up, getting some food, and getting some rest.

Another glow was spotted just after dark, and those returning Warriors reported that would be the Kataii column this night.

Restock the water supplies, bathe, wash up, you stink.

Be ready to move when the command is given.
