Migration Log (Summer 2016)
« on: May 28, 2016, 05:39:55 PM »
Entry One

All wagons were packed and ready to move in good time. Lack of rain did cause the springs to refill slower than normal for filling water barrels, but it was still accomplished in a timely orderly fashion.

The wagons moved out, breaking down the camp from the center outward in order to more easily form the proper column of march when the time comes.

All wagons are in rolling condition that will be making the journey.

All wagons are formed in one huge circle around the once camp area awaiting the order to move again and begin forming their column of march and heading for our summering lands.

One Warrior KIA in patrol action.

End Report.

Entry Two

The wagons moved out and formed into the column of march. The positions of the wagons are for convenience as well as security. I do not doubt there will be losses along the way, but this formation will hopefully allows the closing of ranks and movement onwards.

The column made steady time through the day and halted for the night with minimal lighting and brazier fires for cooking, then braziers are to be extinguished.

The bosk will graze in harness and will be bucket watered.

Warriors will be moving about with regularity. Do not jump and begin loosing arrows or anything until you have verbally issued challenge and wait for their reply.

Meat carts are moving through the column for those in need of meat. Take what you need, but do not waste what you take.

One accident was reported, see healer's log for details.

Make ready to move out when commanded, and then stay alert. We leave our territory very soon.

End report.

Entry Three

The column progressed as planned. Brief enemy encounters were dealt with as expected.

The watering hole we are stopped at for the night will be the last available water until the column reaches the River of Tears. Stock up and carry as much as possible. The heat and dusty conditions are using water for people and stock at an alarming rate.

Eat and rest after tending the stock.

Be ready to move again when the command is given. Keep weapons close at hand. We leave Tuchuk territory. Expect the unexpected.

Entry Four

Again the column made good progress this day. Water is the consideration at this time. The heat and dust are placing a heavy toll on the water stores.

More enemy sightings, though at least no major encounters. Only the brief skirmishes continue.

Medical supplies remain an issue. Meats and some basic staples are still available for those requiring such.

The column made camp in rank and file for the night maintaining light discipline.

A girl called saphire was picked up during this portion of march and remains with the column at present.

Entry Five

The column progress as expected with some enemy encounters, though no heavy action has taken place.

The column had stopped for the night and will strike out again as soon as possible after first light.

Water reserves are dangerously low, so no water is to be wasted.

We should be within sight of the River of Tears in another day. Once across, the climate should gradually begin being more friendly as we would expect.

Entry Six

The column continued its march towards our summering lands. Water is in low supply and muchly needed among other things. Supplies are nearly exhausted. Products of our own are holding well though.

Engaged the Kataii in a brief but savage skirmish in force. All said, a total of six Oralu combined to do battle. At its conclusion,  Tuchuk successfully defended the column.

Tuchuk suffered 302 wounded and 97 killed in action. Updated information to be found in the Healers Log as newer reports are made.

Our dead and wounded were gathered and brought on the continued march. The Kataii dead were left where they fell, and 63 wounded were executed before the column moved on.

The column has stopped for the night along the Northern bank of the River of Tears. It will proceed to the crossing and make the crossing during the light of day. We will fill all water supplies during the crossing.

Tend the stock, the wagons, and then yourselves. No fires and no lights during the night. Blackout conditions. Dine on cold foods.

Get some rest. We will move out again soon.

Entry Seven

The River of Tears was successfully crossed, though in less than stellar conditions.

Due to the lack of rainfall, the RoT was considerably lower than what is normal. This allowed much of the riverbed to be exposed, but silted and extremely soft beneath a thing dry crust. Wagons as well as stock were bogged down on both sides of the water making the advance difficult and dangerous.

During the crossing, the enemy was first engaged on the Southern side and their advance was halted. Enemy on the Northern side then attacked on the right flank, resulting in action on both shores of the river.

Exact figures of casualties have yet to be determined, though a brief preliminary report listed an Apprentice Healer KIA, four healing slaves KIA, four personal wagons burned, and a perimeter med wagon burned, and an estimated 200 Warriors KIA and  over 300 wounded to various degrees. The number of wounded is likely much higher, as most Warriors do not bother to report minor wounds.

The column is halted on the Southern side of the RoT with the main herd grazing on the left flank. The teams are to graze in place and will be bucket watered. The teams did slow enough during the crossing to drink on the move as did the kaiila. Be sure to tend the other livestock in the column.

The entire medical staff will be working almost the entire night and volunteers for Stitch-n-bitch stations did assist with minor wounds which did alleviate a great deal of work for the medical staff.

Cookfires are going and there is plenty of bosk to eat. Eat while you can, rest when you can.

During the night, a good rain began to fall and continues to fall. The weather front brought with it winds, rain, and thunder, though no lightning has yet been reported.

Use the rain to finish topping off water barrels that were filled as much as possible during the crossing. Many are taking advantage of the rain to actually wash off the layers of dust, dirt, and stink of the march to our summering lands. Laundry can also be done so long as the rain continues. Scrub your smelly asses... scrub your smelly feet... and do something to be rid of your foul smelling clothing.

Entry Eight

The column moved onward from the RoT continuing the march South. The 3rd Oralu was picked up along the way after skirmishing with the enemy. The casualties were not heavy, and it was viewed more as harassment than actual confrontation and engagement.

One the 3rd was once again with the column, they rotated back and the 4th Oralu took their position in the led right flank position until the 3rd has sufficiently recovered and rested.

The column and herd continued until reaching the areas of small springs where all halted for the night to tend to stock, wagons, and to dine on fresh cooked bosk, eggs, milk, and cheeses. Anything else is considered an extra and is likely only in the private wagons.

The column and herd will again proceed on command when light has come and all has been seen to.

It has been reported the medical supplies are nearly exhausted. The Ubara will have more detailed information.

Entry Nine

The column continued onwards without major incident. An accident was reported that involved an orphan Biy. See Healer's Report for further details

We draw closer to Turia, and then towards our home territory.

Enemy was sighted, though no engagement took place. I does seem, from gathered intelligence, that the enemy is massing, most likely for a large engagement. As yet, we can only assume a few possibilities.

The herd and column had stopped for the night to tend the stock and wagons. Good bosk was spitted and available.

We move out again when the command is given.

Stay alert. Stay alive.

Entry Ten

While on the march, the column found itself moving between rocky impassible grounds for the wagons, and some high ground controlled by Turians and Kataii.

The column could not go forward without rolling through a hailstorm of arrows, nor could it back up and take another route.

Several Oralus formed a ring around the high ground and The 1st Oralu formed at the base and assaulted the high ground. The first line of dismounted Turian cavalry were overrun and the assault continued to the top where it was taken after fierce combat.

No captives were taken.

The 1st Oralu suffered over 400 casualties in the action, many of which will hopefully return to duty.

All medical personnel had worked nearly non-stop since the assault to try and save as many of The 1st as possible given the exhausted medical supplies available.

The column remained in place an additional day to avoid jostling the wounded.

Be ready to move again at first light.

End

Entry Eleven

The column moved out shortly after dawn and made good time. Kassar attempted an ambush but failed to gain any property or stock.

The column slowed but continued onward, loading our casualties on the move. The Kassar dead were left where they fell for them to be picked up by their own.

We were met by Turian cavalry and escorted to our migration encampment area just outside a secondary gate. The medical staff were gifted med kits by the Turian cavalry to use for our wounded through the night.

The herd grazes in one area, and the team bosk have been turned out to graze separate for ease in gathering them when time to move on.

A functional commissary is set up for food.

None will enter Turia until after dawn when we can enter together. Until then, do what must be done, and rest.

We shall have a very busy time in Turia for resupply.

We have entered Turia.

Tend to getting cleaned up, then resupply, resupply, resupply, then relax and enjoy.

I do not intend to be in Turia long.

Entry Twelve

The column departed Turia around midday.

An incident at the main gate involving Kai, Kahm and a Turian Boy who is no longer alive. Nothing important in my eyes.

The column is in the wilds, making good time and since the teams and wagons are in fine shape, we will continue to roll throughout the night.

Red lamps only on the wagon exteriors after dark.

The column continued through the night as intended, stopping just after dawn to water the stock, tend the axles, and to grab a bite to eat.

The wagons again moved on making good progress and have entered our summering territory.

The column has stopped for the night. Tend to all migration chores and work, eat, and get some rest. We move out again in the morning and should reach our summering area for camp on our last leg.

We are almost home!!!!
