...Saddest scene I have ever seen. A tortured IRA man turns in his associates, including his best friend. James Coburn watches in the mirror, and when the man nods at him, James rises with his shotgun and kills the police...and then stares at his friend...and when the friend nods that it is OK...James kills him too. Such a moving movie. Rod Steiger was amazing as the at times bewildered bandit who somehow did well. I cried when Steiger returned to the cave, and found all of his sons dead.
