...A r/t tale, sorry...but I think it is funny...
My 1st career was as an accountant.
My Father taught me how to 'foot', and 'crossfoot' journals and ledgers when I was in HS...he also had a tax practice...and I learned how to prepare tax returns...he would carefully check them...and if I had done one right...I would GET SOME MONEY!
So, I had a 'heads up' when I entered the real world of accounting.
The Senior Partner of the firm I joined, assigned me difficult tasks...especially in 'auditing'. Numbers 'speak' to me...I can glare at them, and say..."What you be really saying"...and they speak back to me. A few times I would speak to the owner of the business...and...well...it reorganized.
I was also assigned to prepare complex tax returns.
At first...they were all just written down...and then...COMPUTERS ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone in the Firm was struggling...and so was I!!!! We had to write down numbers in the right boxes on a sheet of paper...and then mail it in...and the return arrived...and...the return was ALL MESSED UP!!! I wrote the numbers in the wrong place...and so did everyone else. We had to do corrections...and mail it back.
