says to ALL: ...I have my daughters with me, and we are making Rinderrouladen for the Feast, tomorrow. I had told them. "Tomorrow be tha 9th day a Jul, an we serve...this stuff...an roasted suls an green beans." I look over to the side, Johanna and Katniss were taking care of the suls, and green beans...they had seen what I had planned, and were taking the easy parts. I tell the other daughters..."Let's get tae work!"

says to ALL: ...I get my daughters at various counters, and instruct them, and we all get to work. Slices of raw bosk are set out, and pounded very thin. I had assigned Tiveri to this, and she was chortling as she pounded the slices very thin. I had to stop her a few times, and say, "Not so thin." S'lene was slicing vegetables, onions and pickles. Aslaug was arranging the 'assembly line', and I was overseeing it all.

says to ALL: ...I see that all is in place, and wash my hands again, and get Aslaug to do the same. We then get to work...The slices of bosk are laid out, and dusted with flour, and then salt and pepper. We then spread mustard on the slices, and places slices of onion and 1/4 of a pickle in each. We wrap the roll up, and then wrap slices of bacon over the 'roll'. Wooden pins are placed to hold it all together, and the 'roll' is placed in a pan. We continue working, until we have several Or of pans full. Salt, pepper, and garlic pieces are placed over the rolls, and the pans are placed over fires. We watch them, carefully, and turn the rolls so that they are not burned. I nod, and we take the pans off the fires, and place them in ovens, after adding some water, and some red wine.

says to ALL: ...I watch as Aslaug directs kajirae to clean up, and turn my attention to the ovens. I pull a pan out, every 1/4 ahn, or so, and look how it is coming along. After an ahn, we pull all of the pans out, and look them over. I smile, and say, these be doin well." We carefully turn the rolls over, and then add more water and wine to cover the rolls. They are placed back into the ovens, and I sit back against the wall, and drink some fruit juice. I call out to Johanna, "Ye make tha gravy, OK?" She calls back, "Yes, Momma, I will take all of the drippings, add some maize starch to thicken it, and we can place it in tureens to pour over the...the...the...WHAT ARE THE ROLLS CALLED, AGAIN?"

says to ALL: ...I mutter, "I got a barbarian girl tae show me how tae make these. They be called 'Rinderrouladen'." I shake my head..."No wonder we call them from Earth 'Barbarians'." My daughters all nod, and head out, except Tiveri. She settles down, near me, eating a sweet roll...she likes the way the 'rolls' are smelling as they cook...and I know that she will be clamoring for one, once they are all cooked.
