Today I was riding with my partner in Queens when I received a transferred call from FBI Director, Lisa Cohen, saying one of her undercover agents had spotted Tiki Boyd in Antonio's restaurant. Since it was only a few blocks away, I called for a squad car as back up and headed straight over there.
Sure enough, there was Boyd sitting at the bar. I arrested him under the pretense that he had violated his arrangement with the FBI by disappearing from his Federal Witness Protection program location without advising them he was leaving.
What I really wanted was him in jail where we could question him regarding the murder of Blanche Barrows in 2001. After a short scuffle, we handcuffed him, read him his rights and had the squad car take him back to the 5th Precinct.
Boyd demanded a lawyer so Nelle Porter will wait until his lawyer arrives before we question him. We did book him on the Federal charge, fingerprinted, photographed and obtained DNA samples before parking him in a jail cell. Jeff Mallard is already working on the DNA links to that old murder case.
