This morning an incoming Danish freighter brought in the body of a man they found floating several miles off the coast. They contacted the dock and advised them to call the police.
The police were waiting as a tug eased the freighter against the dock and came directly on board. They found his wallet which identified the man as Walter DeGrario, a 42 year old member of the Teamsters.
It was hours later that they confirmed his identity during the autopsy. We contacted the Teamsters Union Hall since he was carrying a union card. They said that Walter was married to a woman named Carrie and she was brought down to the morgue to identify and claim the body.
The medical examiner determined the cause of death was drowning and he was heavily drinking and probably fell overboard at one of those at sea parties. It's surprising that nobody claimed a lost passenger, but some of those parties turn into orgies and it's possible nobody noticed his absence.
Colin Martino, the Teamsters President, said that they will handle the costs of a proper burial.
