Fireworks
« on: July 05, 2005, 11:37:37 AM »
On Monday I invited a big group up on the roof garden of the Carnegie Hill apartment complex. Arky helped by bringing a quarter keg of beer. Katie Donovan brought up snacks, including Doritos which went over big.

Lindsay Davis, Maddie Cirillo, Hope Daniels, Jason Brown, Jason Maloney and even Ben Bravio were there. Jason Brown was concentrating on Katie. Ben was talking to Maddie and Arky was chatting with Hope.

The view of the fireworks over the river waspectacular. Just before Maddie left, Ben went over and wound up spending a long time chatting with Lindsay. What's up with that?

I enjoyed my favorite spot, sitting on top of the roof garden wall. Arky brought me over a bowl of Doritos but he wanted no part of sitting on that wall. Turns out he doesn't really like heights.

Ben spent the later part of the evening on that roof negotiating with me. His form of negotiations included running his fingers up and down my back. It was almost like a guy playing with a zipper back there, but my little black harness dress really didn't have much material higher than my bottom.

It reminded me of the night over a year ago when I took him to my place after one of Rachel's plays, but he really wasn't trying to get in my pants. What he wanted was me to lay off of Maddie in my weekly column. I sort of agreed, trading that for a dinner out some night.

Ben met me for lunch instead the following day. During lunch he said he'd set up a meeting for us with Diego. I rode over to the Bergen Hunt and Fish Club with Ben in his pick up.

Diego was waiting, sat us all down in his private office and asked me to lay off Ben's affair with Maddie and also to lay off the missing Sal Tommasi. Obviously, these are sensitive items at the moment.

Diego suggested that Ben drop his affair with Maddie, and Ben agreed, saying Maddie was probably still in love with Josh. Diego said he was pleased that Ben's relationship with Elspeth Wise was over since he feared she might find out more about the Genovese family then she needed to know.

Diego is obviously concerned about Maddie leaking information to Joshua Turning, who will be a Junior at Columbia this fall. I'm sure Diego will be talking to her next.

Diego offered to have Furio take me home after my portion of the meeting, but I declined saying I'd catch a cab. I know he wanted time alone with Ben for Genovese business.

The meeting with Diego was short and to the point. Sal is hidden away in Connecticut and Al will be subbing in Sal's place, a complete secret we needed to maintain. There's trouble brewing with the Zasa family and that cop they have working for the NYPD Narcotics Division, Gabriel Mancini.

My assignment is to watch over the Genovese Construction Inc. affairs and help get us more work locked up. The new Yankee stadium is all but ours now and Diego wants a piece of the new Freedom Tower to be built where the twin World Trade Center used to be located.

I'll meet with George Steinbrenner today to lock up the Yankee stadium project. Then I need to sit down with Maddie and clear the air.

Lindsay sure looked nice in that little black dress in the roof garden. *chuckling*
