Ben spent the later part of the evening on that roof negotiating with me. His form of negotiations included running his fingers up and down my back. It was almost like a guy playing with a zipper back there, but my little black harness dress really didn't have much material higher than my bottom.
It reminded me of the night over a year ago when I took him to my place after one of Rachel's plays, but he really wasn't trying to get in my pants. What he wanted was me to lay off of Maddie in my weekly column. I sort of agreed, trading that for a dinner out some night.
Ben met me for lunch instead the following day. During lunch he said he'd set up a meeting for us with Diego. I rode over to the Bergen Hunt and Fish Club with Ben in his pick up.
Diego was waiting, sat us all down in his private office and asked me to lay off Ben's affair with Maddie and also to lay off the missing Sal Tommasi. Obviously, these are sensitive items at the moment.
Diego suggested that Ben drop his affair with Maddie, and Ben agreed, saying Maddie was probably still in love with Josh. Diego said he was pleased that Ben's relationship with Elspeth Wise was over since he feared she might find out more about the Genovese family then she needed to know.
Diego is obviously concerned about Maddie leaking information to Joshua Turning, who will be a Junior at Columbia this fall. I'm sure Diego will be talking to her next.
Diego offered to have Furio take me home after my portion of the meeting, but I declined saying I'd catch a cab. I know he wanted time alone with Ben for Genovese business.
