so tired of dealing with the relentless cold and the raging wind. the lack of piles of snow did little to raise morale, even inside the usually energetic and enthusiastic girl. while some remained motivated, kiah began to succumb to the endlessness of it all. same old thing, check the bosk, check the wagon, drink warm water, scrounge up a piece of jerky, and hardest of all, try to please the unpleasant Free . it wasn't pretty but she persevered. the bosk were ready, the wagon ready, and kiah finally clearing her head enough to be truly ready. the rocky ground was left behind and higher snow was encountered. kiah must have made quite the impression, and not with her terrible singing, on that Or of men, because they came back, tying their mounts beneath the wagon and going inside to get some sleep. as thrilled as she was to see them again, to know they were still alive, she now she had, not only the bosk and wagon to take care of, along with Master's Ubar's property, her little self, but now the additional twenty beings too. the weight on responsibility was greater than she ever remembered but she found a way to handle it, drawing strength from within and just getting it done. the Outriders were no sooner asleep when her little world fell apart. a lead bosk slipped on the ice and kiah panicked, ripping back on reins and trying to get to the break. she couldn't manage both and dropped the reins to try and follow the shouted instructions of break and release. between the bosk falling on ice and almost taking the rest of the team with it  Master Wapike risked his own life for the sake of Tuchuk, appearing to kiah out of nowhere and getting the wagon stopped, the bosk checked and the injured one tended to by bitsy, sending another Master (Cade) to check the kailla and kiah to take a moment to collect herself and then check on the Or in the wagon. it had all happened so fast, going from being in control to having it stolen from her. later she would figure out what she did wrong or what she could have done better. it was simply hard to move never mind think. the walk from the wagon box to the inside of the wagon seemed like passangs. she didn't know if the Masters were injured, angry, or asleep, as it remained dark inside but for a little candle and the brazier. it was one of the hardest kneels she has ever done. perhaps it was because she silently lied to them, wanting so badly to turn up those palms, desperate for any approval but especially a touch. yet she hid her feelings and deciding (to a degree) for them as she kept them  palm down because she felt she had failed everyone and didn't deserve it. (she had r/p'd being too shocked to really 'hear' Master Wapike's words that she did good). the wait before them seemed endless and the unexpected reach of a sleeping Master's arm to drag her to him left her rigid against him, as the fight inside her continued. in the end, the Master, like always and without even trying, had won out. the warmth of his body and protectiveness, even if unintended, of his arm around her, made her finally feel safe again and she broke down to tears and melted to him while he slept.

perhaps, kiah should have just said the bosk slipped, the wagon slid, Master Wapike saved her and the Or didn't kill her but there was so many emotions going on at the same time and some of them not the 'right' ones for a kajira but she wanted to be honest even if it shows a weakness or a lesson that is needed. also, unbeknowst to the brilliant ST, there was r/t triggers in this, of driving too fast after a snowstorm and hitting slush and sliding. she slammed on the breaks and did a 180 which smashed the car into a metal post and beam fence. the top slat broke free and spun around, taking out the back windshield of the car, showering her toddler of a daughter (in the backseat in a carseat) with glass and thank the Lord not decapitating her in the process. that feeling of helplessness and what if's afterwards ~shudders~. anyways. it was memorable last night, crazy with emotions even in perhaps simple r/p, and leaving a few questions for the typist to delve into today.

oh yes! her apologies for the length of this post. Mistress Sarant's (and Master Arlon's) r/p was shiver inducing.

~peeks into the shadows for that blonde, who somehow got kiah to surrender yesterday, to let her know, there is no way kiah is backing down two days in a row~..*muahhahhhah*

kiah drove the wagon for endless ahn, guiding them thru the deep snow, stopping as ordered to clear the wheels and no sooner hopping down and the word came to get going again. the wind might have lessened but the exhaustion did not, making it a challenge to remain on alert and ready to give her all no matter what was asked of her. after countless passangs, the wagons halted and kiah was called to aide a Mistress working to save the lives of some Masters. (keeping it purposely vague as she is posting before the Migration Report thread is updated)

(the great experiences around her continue. though she was not a direct part of some, she was proud and inspired by her Tuchuk family)

kiah continued to work under the direction of Mistress Mercilayne, leaving the wagon only twice. the first time was to obtain botas of water and ones of broth. the second, was to find a large kettle, and spotting the dung wagon during her excursion, she obtained a partial sack for the wagon while she was out. Mistress Carrigan arrived to render assistance to Mistress. She reminded kiah to take better care of herself and instructed a girl to tell Her if there were any changes to kiah's health before allowing her to eat the generous portion of tenderloin, that Mistress Mercilayne had doled out.

one of the hardest parts of the night was having to admit to herself and then be honest with Mistress, that she didn't have the physical strength remaining to finish a task. the overwhelming exhaustion that all of Tuchuk faced, began to it's toll on a girl. kiah was shown mercy. Mistress told her to catch her breath, finish the task and rehydrate, which she did and then simply got back to work.

(the night before was absolutely terrible for lack of a better word. seeing the near frozen ASKARI Masters (and reading about the near starving young Warriors). the desperation to want to save them bringing her to a near panic of uselessness until Mistress took command of the wagon's inhabitants (of near death ASKARI, a hurting Healer, as well) with the redirection, kiah was able to squash the rising hysteria and get herself to work. she administered help by trying to warm the blue with cold Master, getting a bit of warm fluids into Him via a bota of barely warm water, and then keeping Him awake using any means necessary, all the while having to shut out the worry of not knowing if He and the Others, might live or die)

kiah worked under the direction of Mistress Mercilayne and when She called for a Healer, under Mistress Taryn.

(kiah has been shielded enough from the horrors of injury and death, of both the every day as well as migration variety, to have little enough experience to stop that intial moment of panic. fortunately, with the guidance of the Free, she manages to snap out of the surge of emotion and become a helpful member of Tuchuk, in an emergency. she looks forward to the day it might become purely instinctive, beyond the dire need to help, and be able to be an effective first responder, rather than keeping someone warm and safe until another arrives to take the lead)

the good nights rest due to Mistress Taryn's generosity, did a girl well, reviving her energies, that she tried to share with those she encountered. it was finally an uneventful night in the life of kiah, with no emergencies to challenge her nerves and tug at her heart. it was back to work of driving the wagon and being a lookout. with the snow changing from the fluffy stuff to the heavier variety, it made for more frequent stops to clear the wheels and axels of snow, but at the same time, made it a bit easier for the bosk to pull the wagons.

(kiah met an observer named (Master) 'Michael'. she hopes his interest in Tuchuk remains and deepens with more time spent in our fantastic Home)

(kiah took some golden advice and had an 'early' night to catch up on some sleep (as allowed by the Free in the room))

it was a night of strange and earthen-roller-coaster-type of emotions. the milking verr are dreafully thin and with the loss of their food intake and fat reserves, so goes their milk. kiah no sooner got one verr to let down their milk and command came down that we were leaving. she hitched a ride with a thrall (npc) whom promptly handed over the reins to seek sleep. not long after that, the left front wheel on the wagon splintered, though the damage was minimal enough, for a temporary fix until a full stop might be made. the bosk became less managable as more grass sprouted up beneath the light layer of snow and Berat let it be known that he wanted to eat. with the stop, came a change out of the patched up wheel, thanks to some Outriders and thralls, and once fixed, kiah was ordered to get some food before finding the strength to continue with the endless preparations for the next leg of migration.

kiah drove the wagon. since it was on the backside of the columns, she remained oblivious to any events up front, other than the echoed down commands. the bosk better cooperated after grazing all day and the inspections on the wagon had been thorough as the structure held. her thoughts that warm weather leads to rain came to be right. the lightning and thunder she should have seen coming, but by that time, was too tired to think that far ahead. the call to stop came soon afterward and kiah could only hope the storm passed before the half frozen ground turned to mud.

(there was a different energy in the room tonight, full of tension to the typist, for some reason. she lost count, as to how many times she cringed with Mistress Melanie seemed to tempt/taunt the ST, lol. on a more serious note, it was a good reminder of her place, as there were many times she wanted to jump in with comment or get herself to the front of the wagon line to join in but remembered her role and didn't force herself into the Free's r/p (which doesn't mean she won't ever invite herself in ~grins~ it was just her state of mind last night))

oh yes!...~trying not to grin~.. kiah hopes to be around, when a Singer some day recalls the tale of 'A Commander and a Gentleman'...*innocent hum*
