This Week's Gossip
I awoke last Sunday morning, restless and without my close friend Rachel to talk with while running in Central Park. Instead I ran with Tammi Hanlin and Anne Heche. We chatted about the new towel girl working for Tammi, Samantha Emeris, who's now also a budding singing sensation at the Four Seasons supper Club. Samantha writes her own music and sings like a bird. I love the sound of her voice.
That was the good news. The bad news was when we heard that Samantha was taken into custody for questioning by Chris Meloni regarding the dead body found floating in the New York Bay of a man named Shane King. That turned out to be the man that was harassing Samantha.
Samantha called Diego Farina for help from the 5th Precinct and Diego sent Diane Neal there to bail her out. The police hadn't actually charged Samantha with the murder, but she was refusing to answer any questions. That resulted in an overnight stay in a jail cell for her.
Diane Neal eventually managed to talk to Nelle Porter, the New York City District Attorney, and advise her of the true facts behind this case. King had forced himself upon Samantha at a drunken party and knocked her up. I guess he eventually found out that the resulting Devin was his son and he came to New York City intent on taking them both back.
From what I've been able to discover through anonymous sources is that Samantha was drugged and was saved from this King fellow by Eoin Ryan and Denny Mahoney as King tried to abduct her from Mahoney's Irish Pub.
It seems that King obtained the mysterious drug from a drug lord who's now operating in the New York City area. The police are now working with the FBI to try and find this drug dealer, but Samantha wouldn't give them a name. Meloni is convinced it might be the older man that was harassing Samantha in a coffee shop last week.
On Friday night Meloni received a call urging him to head for a hospital in Brooklyn where Samantha is recovering from an over dose of the same type of drug. Did the drug lord manage to get hold of her again? It appears so, in spite of Meloni urging Samantha not to pursuer this dealer on her own.
Rachel called me on Saturday morning, telling me that had a great time in London and would be boarding a 4:00 pm London time flight back to the United States. She said they had spent their last night in that London hotel, watching "Killing Me Softly" on the hotel's movie selections. I remember that movie well, an erotic thriller that I've watched several times.

I spent Saturday evening with Diego at his brownstone mansion, watching Killing Me Softly with him. He promised never to kill me, which is a good thing.
